Nagpur: Known for her exemplary governance, social welfare initiatives and humanitarian endeavours, Ahilyabai Holkar's legacy continues to inspire generations. In a glowing tribute to the revered Queen of Malwa, a series of cultural, literary, devotional, political, and social events were organised in the city to celebrate her 300th birth anniversary on Saturday.
Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis paid floral tributes to Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar at his official residence. Several other prominent leaders, including Union minister Nitin Gadkari, state revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule and others also paid homage to the eighteenth century queen of the Holkar dynasty.
A programme titled 'Women's Honour' was organised in Dharampeth to celebrate the achievements of women.
Prominent persons, including Vaishali Chopde, Pragati Patil, Ashwini Jichkar, Archana Dehankar, Sandip Joshi, Dayashankar Tiwari, and Rambhau Ambulkar were present.
The Devi Ahilyabai Smarak Samiti organised a cultural programme to mark the tricentennial year. Titled 'Gatha Devi Ahilyabai Ki', the event showcased the life and contributions of Ahilyabai Holkar through various performances. A cultural show by artists of Medhavaini Mandal was held at Nivedham Hall in Wardhaman Nagar.

Rashtra Sevika Samiti chief Shantakka, ACP (EOW) Pooja Gaikwad, and former IMA president Dr Manjusha Giri were the chief guests.
The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) also paid tributes to Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar at a ceremony held at its headquarters. Chief sanitation officer Dr Gajendra Mahalle garlanded a portrait of Ahilyabai. NMC public relations officer Manish Soni, Amol Tapase, Shailesh Jambhulkar, and other officials and employees were present.
On Sunday, the BJP's spiritual wing will confer the Punyashlok Ahilyashakti Award on Jayshree (Mai) Khandekar, at 11am at Shri Ganesh Mandir, Mahal. Padma Shri Dr Vikas Mahatme will present the award.
