MOLIY & Silent Addy's ‘Shake It to the Max' Hits No. 1 on the U.S. Afrobeats Songs Chart
The Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart welcomes a new No. 1 – and first new leader of 2025 – as MOLIY, Silent Addy, Skillibeng and Shenseea's 'Shake It to the Max (FLY)' remix rises from the runner-up spot to rule the list dated May 17. With its ascent, 'Shake It to the Max' unseats Tyla's 'Push 2 Start' from the summit after the latter's domination for 20 consecutive frames. As 'Push 2 Start' began its run on the final chart of 2024 (Dec. 28), it was, until this week, the only song to reign on U.S. Afrobeats Songs this year. The song generated momentum through social media after its remix dropped in March, which added Skillibeng and Shenseea to the tune, and sparked a viral dance challenge. (All versions are combined into one listing for data reporting and chart rankings.) For its coronation on the sales and streaming-based U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart, 'Shake It to the Max' registered 2.9 million official U.S. streams and 500 sales downloads in the tracking week of May 2-8, according to Luminate. Thanks to the new champ, all four artists achieve a first No. 1 on the U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart. MOLIY and Silent Addy realize the feat with their maiden entries on the list, while Skillibeng and Shenseea each top the chart on their third visit. Skillibeng previously earned a No. 3 best in April 2024 for 'Jump' with Tyla and Gunna; Shenseea, as a featured act on Fireboy DML and Chris Brown's 'Diana,' previously reached a No. 17 peak. In addition to its viral success, the song is making inroads in the U.S. radio landscape. The single jumps 33-26 in its third week on the Rhythmic Airplay chart with a 48% jump in plays for the tracking week compared with the week prior, and debuts at No. 34 on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay (up 53%). Stateside gains mirror the song's wide international appeal. It improves on both the Billboard Global 200 (136-111 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (95-81), while the song's original version tops the U.K.'s Official Afrobeats Chart for a seventh consecutive week. Tyla's naked spiderweb dress is literally just pieces of string
It was a big night for female artists over the weekend as the likes of Tyla, Doechii, Gracie Abrams, Madison Beer and Suki Waterhouse all attended the Billboard Women in Music Awards 2025, held on Saturday evening [29 March] in Los Angeles. Obviously, a red carpet event dedicated to women is a literal fashion feast for the eyes (no shade to male celebrities, but the girls *always* bring it), and it was Tyla's arrival that truly had our jaws on the floor. The South African singer and songwriter wowed in a Jean Paul Gaultier couture gown from the designer's spring summer 2025 collection that looked more like a spiderweb than an item of clothing. Constructed from literal pieces of black string, the dress featured a high-neck, long sleeves and floor-sweeping train entirely constructed out of woven-together thread with a shredded finish. As a result, the dress was totally see-through and created a naked moment as Tyla went braless in the design. Additional string knotted loosely across the bust prevented a free-the-nip moment, though the black knickers she wore underneath and her belly button piercing were clearly visible in the transparent number. Naked dressing was clearly the theme of all Tyla's ensembles at the event as she made two outfit changes throughout the evening. Once inside the awards, Tyla opted for more casual attire, donning a blue silk shirt worn completely open paired with tiny denim micro shorts. She added an oversized brown suede jacket over the top (the outerwear is a huge 2025 trend, FYI) with a long beaded necklace adding a boho twist. She was snapped in the naked 'fit posing alongside Doechii. Her third outfit of the night came when she took to the stage to perform her latest single Push 2 Start. For this, she opted for a deconstructed suit with sections of the blazer and trousers crafted from sheer, embroidered tulle to create see-through windows. The trousers also only featured one full-length leg with the left side cropped into shorts. Forgoing a shirt completely, Tyla wore a neon green sheer lace bra and accessorised with a long silver lariat necklace. She may have won the Impact Award for her dedication and positive impact on the music industry during the ceremony, but we're unofficially crowning her naked dressing queen for her three stand-out looks, too.
