Sugababes' Keisha Buchanan's ex set for trial next year on harassment and controlling behaviour charges
Sugababe Keisha Buchanan's footballer ex-partner is set to stand trial next Spring over claims he harassed the singer and controlled parts of her life. Taiwo Leo Atieno, 39, is accused of blocking the singer from wearing red lipstick, watching TV and going to the gym, and allegedly controlled what she ate when they were in a relationship. After the breakdown of the romance, it is said he harassed her with texts, emails and social media contact, as well as an alleged request for £25,000. He is also accused - in criminal charges spanning a decade - of attacking Ms Buchanan. Atieno appeared on Thursday at Harrow Crown Court for a preliminary hearing, when Judge Charles Bourne KC set the case down for a five-day trial starting on April 13 next year. The defendant appeared for the hearing on a videolink from HMP Wormwood Scrubs, having been held in custody since first being charged last month. The judge agreed on Thursday that he could be released from prison to await his trial, as long as he abides by bail conditions including the surrender of his passport. Ms Buchanan, 40, was one of the original members of Sugababes alongside Mutya Buena and Siobhan Donaghy, and was part of the band as they became one of the 21st Century's most successful pop acts. She enjoyed chart-topping hits such as Round Round and Push the Button, before ultimately being forced out of the band in 2009. Ms Buchanan had solo success before reuniting with her former bandmates under the title Mutya Keisha Siobhan – and together they seized back control of the Sugababes name in 2019. Atieno was a professional footballer who made appearances for Kenya in qualifiers for the World Cup and African Cup of Nations. The Brixton-born forward made appearances for Walsall, Tamworth, Luton Town, Stevenage and Torquay United before retiring in 2013, and he also had spells playing in Puerto Rico and Rochester in New York state. He is charged with controlling and coercive behaviour towards Ms Buchanan between December 2015 and May 2018, assault occasioning actual bodily harm between January 2012 and January 2015, harassment between January 2021 and December last year, and an alleged breach of a non-molestation order. A previous court hearing was told the singer alleges Atieno controlled her finances and use of the shower while they were living together, allegedly intervened in her eating habits, and only allowed her to go to the gym 'at certain times'. It is said he 'did not allow her to watch TV and did not allow her to wear red lipstick' and also subjected her to verbal abuse, according to the charges. Atieno is also accused of grabbing Ms Buchanan around the neck, punching her on the arm and striking her on the back in a series of alleged assaults, the court heard. When blocked from contacting the singer by a family court order, it is alleged Atieno sent emails to her and he is also accused of harassment over the course of three years with texts, emails, social media contact and a request for £25,000. According to reports, Ms Buchanan was once engaged to Atieno and they had begun making plans for a wedding. Atieno was not asked to enter pleas to any of the charges at Thursday's hearing. He told the magistrates court hearing he denies all the allegations. Atieno, of Langton Road, Kennington, southwest London, is set to return to court to enter pleas in August.

The footballer did not enter pleas during the hearing, which was adjourned until August 22 for technical reasons. A five-day trial has been set for April 13 next year at the same court. Atieno was granted bail subject to a series of conditions including a £10,000 surety and residence at his home address in Brixton. He must not enter the London Borough of Barnet, not contact the complainant and not apply for any international travel documents. Atieno, who will also have to surrender his passport, is accused of assaulting Keisha on three occasions - including one that left her needing physiotherapy treatment. Vick Hope seeks advice for baby name as she expects child with Calvin Harris
It seems Vick Hope is seeking advice on baby names from unlikely sources. The radio presenter, 35, is currently expecting her first child with husband Calvin Harris, 41. Appearing on the BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend stage this weekend, the broadcaster jokingly asked the crowd for suggestions on what moniker to give their little one when they arrive. Speaking to the thousands-strong audience in Liverpool, an excitable Vick went out to introduce the acts alongside co-host Jamie Laing, 36. 'Vick is about to go on maternity leave,' the former Made in Chelsea star began. 'And she wants some help with some baby names.' 'So, if you can shout some names to me…', Jamie asked, as heard in video footage obtained by the Daily Mail. Sefton Park soon erupted into noise and chatter, screaming out suggestions. 'OK, I got it,' said Vick as she giggled. Preparing to take time off to begin raising her baby, she quipped: 'If anyone wants to do the show with Jamie now, there's a space available!' The former Strictly Come Dancing star looked stunning as she showed off her blossoming baby bump at the music event, where the likes of Tom Grennan, Sam Fender, Myles Smith, and Wolf Alice are performing. Vick wore a figure-hugging maxi dress splattered with colours, also featuring a thigh-high split. She wore her raven locks in braids and ensured to maximise comfort with a pair of trainers. Later in the night, as Vick transitioned to TV coverage, she changed into a black mini dress with metallic cowboy boots, throwing over a Newcastle football shirt in homage to Geordie singer and headliner Sam. The annual festival was her last chance to let her hair down ahead of beginning her new chapter as a mum, and it seems she truly had a ball. Taking to Instagram throughout the day, Vick updated her 329,000 followers with snaps from the park, posing alongside Radio 1 colleagues Greg James and Arielle Free. Podcaster Jamie also captured Vick in high spirits, dancing to Sugababes tune Push the Button as they performed. Vick and Calvin – whose real name is Adam Wiles – are famously private when it comes to their relationship. In 2022, rumours began swirling that they had been dating for a few months, and they eventually went public at the Chelsea Flower Show in May that year. Vick and the Scottish hitmaker married in September 2023 in a fancy Ibiza Glastonbury-themed wedding, fitting for both of their love for music. The first time Vick spoke about her pregnancy was ahead of signing off from the airwaves to begin her maternity leave. Speaking on Radio 1, the Going Home host told listeners: 'I should say that this is my final week. I wanted to share that with you because we've had such a lovely time over the last few weeks. That time is coming to an end for a bit because I'm going on maternity leave next week.' Co-presenter Jamie jumped in: 'You're an amazing friend, an amazing person, and you're just going to be an amazing mum.' 'Oh, thank you,' she replied. After being probed by Jamie about keeping her personal life away from the spotlight, Vick explained that she didn't want to make a big deal out of her baby news. 'I do not see the point; it's not for me,' she stated. 'I'll be honest, I struggle with anything that's personal or private.
