Jon Gruden expresses hope in NFL return as he visits Lions training camp
Jon Gruden has remained out of the NFL since his time with the Las Vegas Raiders came to a crashing end following a leaked email scandal. However, Gruden has been seen around NFL sidelines in recent years, including on Monday when he was seen visiting the Detroit Lions. He expressed some optimism he would be back coaching in the league in some capacity soon. "Hopefully I'm not done," Gruden told reporters, via the Detroit Free Press. "I'm about to make a comeback. I'm working hard to maybe get one more shot, but hopefully some of these guys that fell off my branch, if you say it that way, maybe they can hire me cause I'm looking for a job. "I don't care if I coach at Jones Junior High," he added. "I'm going to coach again. I'm still coaching. I'm just not on a team officially, but I do have some private assignments I work on, and I wear some gear when I'm watching the games that nobody knows about who I'm pulling for." Gruden split from the Raiders during the 2021season after emails with racist, homophobic and misogynistic language came out in multiple reports. Since then, he has been seen with the New Orleans Saints helping to consult Derek Carr when he was the team's quarterback. He was also reinstated to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Ring of Honor. As a member of Barstool Sports, he hosted "Gruden's QB Class" with incoming rookie quarterbacks ahead of the draft. It's unclear if he will ever get another official coaching job in the NFL. He is 117-112 with a Super Bowl title.

Quinn Ewers Talks About Middle School Scholarship Offer
Since his early years, Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers has been one of the most highly ranked and talked about quarterback prospects. He was the No. 1 ranked quarterback in his original class (2022), but he left high school a year early and went to play for Ohio State due to an NIL deal that he could not pass up. Advertisement On Jon Gruden's QB Class episode with Ewers, he discusses the recruiting process for a prospect as highly ranked as himself. When he was in seventh grade, Ewers got his first scholarship offer to play for the University of North Texas, and he hadn't even stepped foot in high school yet. Martinez/American-Statesman / USA TODAY NETWORK This stunned Gruden, and he was impressed with how early he was getting offers to play football in college. Sometimes, when players get offers that early they get complacent in thinking that they are good enough, but Ewers has been hard at work ever since to prove why he was the top ranked quarterback. Gruden's QB Class helped fans to see what Ewers was all about, and just days before the 2025 NFL Draft, could not have come at a better time. Advertisement As it stands, Ewers is more than likely a day two selection, so this episode available on YouTube and Barstool Sports could help teams see him in a new light, and rise in their rankings. The 2025 NFL Draft begins on Thursday, April 24 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Ewers will be awaiting the next steps in his professional career. EVERYTHING'S BIGGER IN TEXAS My man Quinn Ewers, who is on Gruden's QB Class TONIGHT at 7pm EST, got this box put together from the Texas Longhorns and MAN do I love that burnt orange. Thank you Coach Sark and all of @TexasFootball for this box, HOOK 'EM! — Jon Gruden (@BarstoolGruden) April 21, 2025 Everything's bigger in Texas — including the swag boxes. Former Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers will be featured on QB Class with former NFL head coach-turned-Barstool Sports personality Jon Gruden on Monday night. In anticipation of the episode, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns football program sent Gruden a signature 'All Gas, No Brakes' swag box — with a burnt orange twist. Known for his viral unboxing videos, Gruden shared with fans on social media unraveling the unique gift, which included a series of nested boxes, Russian doll-style. The former Super Bowl champion, who often name-drops notable alumni from each school he covers, praised the creativity and spirit of the Texas program throughout the video. Among the first items Gruden pulled out were miniature Longhorns helmets — 'a big fan,' he said — followed by a variety of burnt orange apparel that earned his enthusiastic approval. 'That burnt orange, man, do I love that,' Gruden said. The video ended with Gruden flashing the Hook 'Em hand sign and thanking Sarkisian and the program for the thoughtful package. 'Hook 'em!' Watch Notre Dame quarterback Riley Leonard with Jon Gruden in QB Class
Watch Notre Dame quarterback Riley Leonard with Jon Gruden in QB Class Since Jon Gruden retired from coaching the NFL, he's taken up a broadcasting role and started up a series called QB Class, with its newest episode staring Notre Dame's Riley Leonard. The former Super Bowl winning head coach loves the now former Irish quarterbacks game, immediately comparing his running style to that of former Auburn Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton. Gruden went over Leonard's who career, starting out with his recruitment, which was significantly different than most. His only offer out of high school was from Duke, and he never actually made any visits. The conversation continued with his tough start with the Blue Devils, going through a head coaching change there with former Irish assistant Mike Elko and how important that relationship was to his growth and development. The two also talked about Leonard's time in South Bend, which was the highlight of the episode for me. It was great hearing about his experience, how much it impacted him, and the fact that he grew so much from working with offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock running a pro-style offense. Check out the full episode of QB Class starring Riley Leonard below.

Ohio State QB Will Howard calls shirtless Tennessee players 'clowns' alongside Jon Gruden
Ohio State quarterback Will Howard ridiculed Tennessee football players for warming up shirtless before their College Football Playoff game during a conversation with Jon Gruden. It was part of Gruden's QB Class on Barstool Sports, where the former coach breaks down game film with quarterback prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft. Gruden, who spoke at Tennessee's coaching clinic last week, set up Howard for the punchline by showing him video of UT players running onto the field shirtless during warm-ups for their CFP game against Ohio State on a cold night in Columbus on Dec. 21. Howard chuckled and ripped the Vols for their stunt amid the 25-degree temperature. "The funny thing is that they came out with their shirts off, and they ran over to the opposite end zone and immediately put them back on," Howard said. "I was like, 'What the (expletive) are these clowns doing, man?' At that moment, I knew we had them." Howard was right on both counts. UT's players put their shirts on soon after taking the field, and Ohio State won 42-17 to start a national title run. But there's some missing context. The Vols put their shirts back on because an NCAA rule requires that players wear shirts that display their jersey number during warm-ups. Nevertheless, they lost the mind game and then the actual game. TRANSFER PORTAL: Josh Heupel sounds open to Tennessee adding wide receiver Adam Sparks is the Tennessee football beat reporter.
