WAFCON 2024 : The six stadiums hosting matches in Morocco

Six stadiums in four Moroccan cities will welcome the biggest stars of African women's football for the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), taking place from July 5 to 26, 2025. The venues include the brand-new Olympic Stadium in Rabat, El Bachir Stadium in Mohammedia, Larbi Zaouli and Père Jégo Stadiums in Casablanca, the Honor Stadium in Oujda, and the Municipal Stadium in Berkane. These stadiums will host top African teams vying for the continent's most prestigious women's football trophy. Rabat's Olympic Stadium, a major addition to Morocco's sports infrastructure, will stage six key matches, including the opening game between Morocco and Zambia and the tournament's grand final. With a 21,000-seat capacity, natural grass, VIP sections, and modern media facilities, it meets international standards and has been praised by CAF. El Bachir Stadium in Mohammedia, which hosted the recent U17 CAN final, will welcome three group-stage matches. With a 15,000-seat capacity, it's expected to deliver high-energy encounters. Casablanca's Larbi Zaouli Stadium, the city's second-largest after Mohammed V Stadium, can accommodate 30,000 fans and will host six matches—group games, quarter-finals, a semi-final, and the third-place match. Père Jégo Stadium, also in Casablanca, is steeped in history as the home of Racing Athletic Club (RAC), founded in 1917. With 10,000 seats, it will host three group-stage matches. In Berkane, the Municipal Stadium (15,000 seats) will host four matches, including group-stage games and a quarter-final. The Honor Stadium in Oujda, with a capacity of 19,800, including 4,800 covered seats, will host four matches as well. Qantas launches major sale for Kiwi customers with cheap flights to 16 destinations

Customers can travel return from New Zealand to Sydney for $579, Bali for $979, Manila for $999 and to Los Angeles for $1199. The sale comes after Qantas last week announced a new route between Auckland and Adelaide with seasonal direct services set to take off in October 2025 through to May 2026. As part of the launch, a special fare is available starting from $699 Economy return with select blackout periods until March 28, 2026. Punters can also purchase discounted Premium Economy tickets between Auckland and Brisbane, starting at $999 return. The same return ticket would start from $2301 with Air New Zealand. These fares coincide with the introduction of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft on flights between the two cities for the first time from August 2025. This will become the airline's second transtasman route to operate a Qantas Boeing 787 Dreamliner, following flights between Auckland and Sydney as part of the airline's popular QF3 and QF4 service. Those planning to splash the cash for a Business Class flight will be set back $1199 for a trip from Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington to Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. Flights from Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington to Los Angeles and San Francisco via Sydney will start from $6499 return while flights from Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington to Dallas Fort Worth via Sydney will cost $6999 return. Sale fares are available until 11.59pm, June 2 and include travel from May to April 2026 with select blackout periods.

QF65 will fly from Perth on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, with a flight time of about 11 hours, 15 minutes. + The first Perth to Auckland flights is on December 8, 2025. QF111 will fly on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday and take about six hours, 45 minutes. + Both routes will operate three times per week on Qantas A330 aircraft. There will be 27 lie-flat business class seats in 1-2-1 configuration, and 224 economy seats. CEO Qantas International Cam Wallace says: 'Our new Perth to Auckland route offers a convenient one-stop connection for West Australians to New York via Auckland on our popular QF3 service. 'The new direct flight to Johannesburg provides a vital connection for customers in Perth to visit popular cities like Cape Town through our partnership with Airlink.' A Qantas insider reveals that the flights have been made possible by funding from the Federal Government to Australian Border Force and the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. They have to deliver additional border services. A Qantas spokesperson confirms: 'The funding will enable Perth Airport to invest in additional staffing, equipment and facilities that increase border and biosecurity capacity and in turn allow the airport to host more international flights.' Perth Airport's Chief Commercial and Aviation Officer, Kate Holsgrove, says: 'Creating additional capacity within Terminal 3 and Terminal 4 will allow Qantas to add or expand their services to WA and is an important interim measure as we build new terminal facilities at Airport Central so Qantas can relocate in 2031.'

Qantas confirms new Auckland-Perth flights

Qantas has announced that direct flights between Perth and Auckland will take off later this year. Flights between Auckland and Western Australia's capital would begin in December. The airline also added flights between Perth and Johannesburg, South Africa. Flights from Auckland to Perth, operating as QF112, would take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays with an approximate flight time of 8 hours. Perth to Auckland flights would operate as QF111 on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. The approximate flight time was around six hours and 45 minutes. Both flights would use Qantas A330 aircraft with 27 business class seats and 224 economy seats. The new flights would allow a one-stop route to London via Perth, as well as to Paris and Rome. It would also allow for connections via Perth from Auckland to airports across South Africa. For Western Australians, the new flight to Auckland would also allow a one-stop connection to New York on the airline's QF3 service. 'We're so excited to be launching two new international routes, unlocking more options and greater choice for all Australians to connect to the world through our growing network," Qantas International chief executive Cam Wallace said. 'By connecting Perth directly with Auckland and Johannesburg, we're supporting the local economy by opening valuable inbound tourism opportunities for Western Australia, as well as generating new jobs for the state. These routes also enable further growth throughout Australia with connections across our domestic network."
