Faisali play Ramtha in Pro League Friday
AMMAN — The CFI Jordan Pro League kicks off Round 3 with reigning champs Hussein in the lead for now. During the upcoming week starting Thursday, its Faisali vs Ramtha, Wihdat vs Shabab Urdun, Hussein vs Salt, Baqa'a vs Jazira and Sarhan vs Ahli. Results last week included Hussein vs Jazira 2-1, Faisali vs Salt 2-1, Wihdat vs Sarhan 1-0, Baqa'a vs Ahli 3-2, Ramtha vs Shabab Urdun 2-0. Jordan Cup semis played tonight
AMMAN — Thursday evening will see Faisali vs Hussein and Wihdat vs Ahli at 7:00 pm in the semifinals of the Jordan Cup —the last event on the 2024/25 season football calendar. Faisali and Wihdat aim to reach the final to have a shot at one of the season's titles after Hussein retained the Pro League crown and won Jordan Super Cup while Salt won their first ever title when they snatched the Jordan Football Association Shield. Playing at Amman International Stadium, Hussein will be eyeing their first Jordan Cup title. They are led by Faisali'sex-coach Ahmad Hayel who was dismissed in the final weeks to join Hussein with whom he won his first title as a Pro league club coach owing their win to a last minute draw of Ramtha vs Wihdat who were leading the league by one point ahead of the final day of the competition. On the other hand, Faisali's veteran player and coach Jamal Abu Abed will strive to snatch a title for his club with the aim of competing again regionally next season after Hussein and Wihdat exited the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Champions League (ACL) Two in the Round of 16 this year. In the other semifinal at King Abdullah Stadium, Wihdat'sTunisian coach Qais Yacoubi also hopes to snatch a win after the Pro League crown slipped away. The coach acknowledged that defensive errors had cost his team the win, and has urged his players to put that result behind their back and focus on the coming season. Ahli maintained their place in the Pro League and havewon the Jordan Cup once in 2015. League title up for grabs in final week
AMMAN — It is again down to the last week of the CFI Jordan Professional Football kicking off on Thursday to decide this year's champion. After leading throughout the competition, and looking like they would easily retain their title, Hussein now need to beat Shabab Urdun while hoping that veterans Wihdat draw or lose against Ramtha in Saturday's title deciding matches. After a slow start in the league, Wihdat's incoming Tunisian coach Qais Yacoubi managed to guide them to the top by winning their postponed matches to overtake the lead by one point as Hussein stumbled in their last six matches and replaced their coach to trail in the penultimate weeks of the event. Wihdat last won the league in 2020 are hopeful they can win. Since 1944, Faisali are 35-time record League champs while Wihdat won 17 times since first joining in 1980. Ahli won eight times, Ramtha and Jazira three times, ShababUrdun twice, Hussein, Amman and Urdun clubs once. In other matches, the final week of the competition will also see Ma'an vs Salt, Aqaba vs Jazira, Ahli vs Sarih, Mughayer Sarhan vs Faisali. Ahli who lost most of their Leg 2 matches, scored important wins to hold on to their spot, as the last four teams, instead of the usual two, have been relegated to the First Division: Sarih, Aqaba, Ma'an and Mughayer Sarhan. Wihdat's Mohannad Simreen is still the top scorer with 17goals with Sarih's Mohannad Akash second with 12.
