Exciting ‘Forever Home' announcement revealed!
We're so honored and pleased to announce that our very own SkyTracker Meteorologist Alex Wasilenko will be the Central Vermont Humane Society's Emcee for their biggest fundraiser of the year, 'Walk for Animals'. 'Walk for Animals' is slated for June 7th and it starts at 9:30 AM on the front lawn of the State House. You will be able to enjoy a walk around downtown Montpelier with other like-minded animal advocates/lovers. This is a free event that is open to the public, but you must register to join the fun. Along with the walk, there will be kids activities, various vendors, free refreshments, a pet costume contest, a trick competition, and much more. Also, back by popular demand will be the opportunity to get a professional dog headshot taken by Paul Richardson. For much more information and how to register, please be sure to visit the Central Vermont Humane Society's website. Along with the 'Walk for Animals' event coming up on June 7th, we also wanted to highlight some happenings with our friends at Queen City Cats in Burlington, Vermont. Their partners at the Queen City Cat Lounge will be hosting a guided meditation class on Wednesday this week. The Lounge describe the event by saying, 'Purr-epare to go deep into a meditative state while doing slow, gentle movements. Karen Waters (owner of Nourishing Touch) will demonstrate and repeat Qigong meditative movements along to verbal imagery and calming music. Expect to feel relaxed, restored, energized, and more connected to yourself and others.' For more information and to book your spot, you can visit the Queen City Cat Lounge website. Join Queen City Cats at these upcoming fun, tasty events
We have two, big Pet Community Calendar events to notify you about from one of our Forever Home partners. We will be back to featuring new pets up for adoption beginning early next month but for now, we wanted to let you know about some fundraising opportunities you can get involved with in the Burlington area. The Queen City Cat Lounge will be hosting a clicker training event for your feline friends on Sunday, March 30th from 11 AM to 12 PM. Elizabeth Llewellyn, a feline welfare and behavior specialist with Happy at Home Cat Sitting will be your instructor for this 25 dollar training. This event will help you further your bonding and understanding of your cat, but it will also teach you how to use clicker training as an enrichment tool. Space is limited, so you will want to reserve your spot right away. Meanwhile, Queen City Cats will be aiming to please your tastebuds and your shopping habits during their creatively named 'Spay-ghetti Dinner and Online Auction' event. Queen City Cats encourages you to eat, bid, and save cats on Sunday, April 13th at La Boca Pizzeria. Included in this event will be a three-course meal, a raffle ticket and goodie bag, one drink ticket, and lots of great company. The first seating is at 5 PM and the second at 7:30 PM. However, the online auction opens on April 6th and you can bid on locally donated items through April 13th. Sweet bonded cat duo looking for their ‘Forever Home'
Our favorite time of week has made the rounds again as it is Forever Home Tuesday. This week, we reconnected with Queen City Cats and the Queen City Cat Lounge in Burlington. That's where we met a bonded pair of felines named Kitten and Rainbow. They are the perfect pair for each other and would make awesome, laid-back additions to your family home. Rainbow, coincidentally, is the black male cat with stellar yellow eyes. There's even a light blue ring around those yellow eyes, eyes that stand right out amongst his slick, black coat. Rainbow is what the cat community would consider almost like a 'spirit cat'. He is very independent, hesitant about human touch, but loves being in a safe environment where he has a good vantage point to look out onto others. It's important to note that Rainbow, while he may not want a lot of attention, is a super smart boy. He is very food motivated and loves the little Churu gogurt-like tubes of wet food. However, he also loves trying to figure out how to get dry food from out of a puzzle food mat. Rainbow has quite a bit of success with those puzzles but when he gets bored, he's always done for some stringy toy action. That playtime is usually enough to tire him to the point of needing a cat nap, which sometimes is in a secluded spot but that's just part of Rainbow's unique personality. Rainbow's bonded pair is a feline named Kitten. You'd never know they were brother and sister just by looking at their beautiful markings. Their colors are total opposite, but it plays up their differing personalities in that regard. Rainbow, the black cat, is more one speed when it comes to human interaction. Kitten, full of stripes and color, has a little bit more energy and willingness to be around people. Kitten, just like her brother, is very food motivated but also loves playing with her stringy toys. Kitten is such a good girl with a sweet face, and yes, even a little bit of a smile or smirk. If you look closely enough, Kitten has what looks like an upside-down mustache on her chin which kind of outlines her 'smile'. The purrr-fect adopters for Kitten and Rainbow include a family who doesn't mind two laid back cats that like to play and interact with humans on their own time. Outside of those minor requirements, these two are in very good health and have no dietary restrictions. They are ready to be adopted, like, yesterday. If you would like more information about how to welcome Kitten and Rainbow into your heart and home, simply visit the Queen City Cats website. Lastly, we would love to extend a congratulations to Queen City Cats for celebrating their 3 year anniversary of being a cat rescue for the greater Burlington area. Thanks to Queen City Cats, many folks have been able to save, foster, and adopt these furry friends who may not have found homes otherwise. We cannot thank Queen City Cats and the Queen City Cat Lounge enough for all they do for the homeless cat population in the Green 'Meow-ntain' State. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
