Sweet bonded cat duo looking for their ‘Forever Home'
Our favorite time of week has made the rounds again as it is Forever Home Tuesday. This week, we reconnected with Queen City Cats and the Queen City Cat Lounge in Burlington. That's where we met a bonded pair of felines named Kitten and Rainbow. They are the perfect pair for each other and would make awesome, laid-back additions to your family home.
Rainbow, coincidentally, is the black male cat with stellar yellow eyes. There's even a light blue ring around those yellow eyes, eyes that stand right out amongst his slick, black coat. Rainbow is what the cat community would consider almost like a 'spirit cat'. He is very independent, hesitant about human touch, but loves being in a safe environment where he has a good vantage point to look out onto others.
It's important to note that Rainbow, while he may not want a lot of attention, is a super smart boy. He is very food motivated and loves the little Churu gogurt-like tubes of wet food. However, he also loves trying to figure out how to get dry food from out of a puzzle food mat. Rainbow has quite a bit of success with those puzzles but when he gets bored, he's always done for some stringy toy action. That playtime is usually enough to tire him to the point of needing a cat nap, which sometimes is in a secluded spot but that's just part of Rainbow's unique personality.
Rainbow's bonded pair is a feline named Kitten. You'd never know they were brother and sister just by looking at their beautiful markings. Their colors are total opposite, but it plays up their differing personalities in that regard. Rainbow, the black cat, is more one speed when it comes to human interaction. Kitten, full of stripes and color, has a little bit more energy and willingness to be around people. Kitten, just like her brother, is very food motivated but also loves playing with her stringy toys. Kitten is such a good girl with a sweet face, and yes, even a little bit of a smile or smirk. If you look closely enough, Kitten has what looks like an upside-down mustache on her chin which kind of outlines her 'smile'.
The purrr-fect adopters for Kitten and Rainbow include a family who doesn't mind two laid back cats that like to play and interact with humans on their own time. Outside of those minor requirements, these two are in very good health and have no dietary restrictions. They are ready to be adopted, like, yesterday. If you would like more information about how to welcome Kitten and Rainbow into your heart and home, simply visit the Queen City Cats website.
Lastly, we would love to extend a congratulations to Queen City Cats for celebrating their 3 year anniversary of being a cat rescue for the greater Burlington area. Thanks to Queen City Cats, many folks have been able to save, foster, and adopt these furry friends who may not have found homes otherwise. We cannot thank Queen City Cats and the Queen City Cat Lounge enough for all they do for the homeless cat population in the Green 'Meow-ntain' State.

Clumsy Kitten Napping on Dad's Guitar Is the Definition of Cuteness Overload
We've all seen countless adorable videos of babies (both human and animal) sleeping, but have you ever seen one of a kitten napping on a guitar as dad plays and sings? TikToker Elgunnasibli has been posting videos of his tiny kitten doing just that, and it's the cutest thing you'll see today. The video is a montage of clips showing all the times his 'clumsy kitten' has slept so soundly on his guitar that he slips right off it! We can't get enough of the cuteness and could watch it on repeat all day! Swoon! What an adorable kitten! Now we need to learn to play the guitar and then get a kitten! Elgunnasibili's video has racked up millions of views and has more than a thousand loved it! @Abiska Aveely got more than 25 thousand likes when they said, "The fact that one day they'll be too big to do this is so sad!" @LazyPaws added, "He knows you're always gonna catch him. That's why. He trusts you with all his life." @Jus Samanka agreed, "The dad reflex is so real!"Commenter @julianyeen asked, "I wonder if the vibrations feel like purring, so they think you're purring at them?!" We thought that was a reasonable guess but wondered if cats really enjoy music. According to PBS, not human music. "Cats, in fact, do enjoy music, but they don't enjoy human music — at least according to new research. A study recently published in the journal Applied Animal Behavior Science believes that in order for our feline friends to enjoy music, it has to be species-specific music." Species-specific music? The article went on to explain what that means. It's music "that fits into how the animal communicates, writes University of Wisconsin psychologists and study authors Megan Savage and Charles Snowdon. 'We have developed a theoretical framework that hypothesizes that in order for music to be effective with other species, it must be in the frequency range and with similar tempos to those used in natural communication by each species.' Curious to hear what cat music sounds like? You can check it out here. Clumsy Kitten Napping on Dad's Guitar Is the Definition of Cuteness Overload first appeared on PetHelpful on May 22, 2025

Woman Fosters a Cat Short-Term—Her Pet Instantly Decides He's Not Leaving
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A pet owner recently agreed to foster another feline for what she assumed would be a temporary arrangement, but her cat, Yonkers, had other ideas. In a heartwarming TikTok video shared in May, under the username @yonkieboy, the two kitties can be seen cuddling and grooming each other as if they had always been friends, despite it being their first encounter. "POV [point of view]: you decided to foster a cat short term, but this is him and my cat on the first day they meet," the owner writes in the clip. The caption reads: "Idk [I don't know] if it's going to be a short term visit …" Although cats have a reputation for being solitary animals, some of them may thrive with companionship, though it is important, before getting a new feline, to determine whether your kitty actually needs one. But how do you know if your cat needs a companion? Some changes in behavior can give you a hint. Loneliness, excessive clinginess, irregular eating habits, or destructive behaviors can all be cries for help. However, these behaviors don't automatically mean that your cat is asking for a second feline. Veterinarians stress the importance of ruling out medical condition before treating their behavioral changes as just loneliness. If indeed your cat is healthy, and they just need a companion to be happy, it is very important to introduce them gradually, starting with separate spaces and supervised interactions until they are comfortable with each other, says Pet MD. One user, D-Nice-79, commented: "That's how we ended up with a cat named Kitten. We called him Kitten to discouraging ourselves from keeping him but our other cat decided." Chubbyandclumsyme posted: "One of my foster cats fell in love with my cat IMMEDIATELY, she cuddled him right away so I knew it's going to be a foster failure." Sarah Disassociating added: "I think your cat just adopted a cat, so technically you still only have one cat, who happens to also have a cat." Newsweek reached out to @yonkieboy for comment via TikTok comments. We could not verify the details of the case. Do you have funny and adorable videos or pictures of your pet you want to share? Send them to life@ with some details about your best friend, and they could appear in our Pet of the Week lineup.

Richmond amps up Pride with "The Gayest Room Ever" and a Stonewall parade
Locals are stepping up their Pride celebrations this year. The big picture: Richmonders' support comes as corporate sponsors are scaling back their Pride funding this year. Driving the news: A smattering of new local Pride events and initiatives have already been announced for this month, which, of course, is Pride month. Here are a few of our faves: 🦄 " The Gayest Room Ever" at Quirk Hotel, which Virginia Pride, artist Scott Csoke and Quirk unveiled last week. The room, curated and styled by Csoke, is filled with art and pieces made by local LGBTQ+ artists or that represent RVA's queer history. Prices start at $239 for the "Everyone Under the Rainbow" package, which includes a one-night stay, two Pride Palomas on the rooftop and a $10 donation to Virginia Pride. Bookings available through September. 🌈 Pride on Forest Hill will pop up in South Richmond on June 14. The event will feature a Pride artist market at Thirsty's (noon-5pm), followed by a Pride picnic in Forest Hill Park, then it's back to Thirsty's for a Pride Happy Hour and afterparty. ✊🏻 Stonewall on Stonewall takes locals back to South Richmond on June 28 to commemorate the anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, the event that kick-started the modern Pride movement.
