Adopt Bella: Super snuggler who loves her playtime

Our Forever Home team didn't have to travel far from the ABC22 and FOX44 studios for this week's newest episode. The reason why? We met up with Queen City Cats at one of their fosterer's homes in the greater Colchester area. That's where we met beautiful Bella, a chonky cat who loves to play and snuggle up on your chest. Let's meet her now! Bella is a 5 year old Queen who is known to be very good around younger kids as long as there is a slow introduction. Bella has a high potential of being the perfect family cat who will be loyal and love your family to the moon and back. She is known to be very playful, but equally as loving. Bella will go from monkeying around with her stringy toys and catnip stuffies to crawling up on your lap and snuggling up to your chin. This girlie pop is like a weighted blanket when she lovingly lays on you. She is a little over 18 pounds and is currently on a weight-loss journey. Bella is very play-motivated cat and that's half the battle when it comes to encouraging her to shed the pounds. Her current foster Mom also puts the litter box downstairs so she can get some cardio during the day and night, or whenever she decides to do her business; what a smart idea for potential adopters! This sweet girl is currently on one medication. She takes it like a champ and takes it daily. Not to mention, the prescription only needs to be filled once a month and it doesn't break the bank. Bella has been with Queen City Cats for about 8 months, and we think now is her time to break free into a new Forever Home. If you would like more information about beautiful, playful, and fun-loving Bella, you can watch her Forever Home episode, here. You can also visit the Queen City Cats website. Exciting ‘Forever Home' announcement revealed!

We're so honored and pleased to announce that our very own SkyTracker Meteorologist Alex Wasilenko will be the Central Vermont Humane Society's Emcee for their biggest fundraiser of the year, 'Walk for Animals'. 'Walk for Animals' is slated for June 7th and it starts at 9:30 AM on the front lawn of the State House. You will be able to enjoy a walk around downtown Montpelier with other like-minded animal advocates/lovers. This is a free event that is open to the public, but you must register to join the fun. Along with the walk, there will be kids activities, various vendors, free refreshments, a pet costume contest, a trick competition, and much more. Also, back by popular demand will be the opportunity to get a professional dog headshot taken by Paul Richardson. For much more information and how to register, please be sure to visit the Central Vermont Humane Society's website. Along with the 'Walk for Animals' event coming up on June 7th, we also wanted to highlight some happenings with our friends at Queen City Cats in Burlington, Vermont. Their partners at the Queen City Cat Lounge will be hosting a guided meditation class on Wednesday this week. The Lounge describe the event by saying, 'Purr-epare to go deep into a meditative state while doing slow, gentle movements. Karen Waters (owner of Nourishing Touch) will demonstrate and repeat Qigong meditative movements along to verbal imagery and calming music. Expect to feel relaxed, restored, energized, and more connected to yourself and others.' For more information and to book your spot, you can visit the Queen City Cat Lounge website. Join Queen City Cats at these upcoming fun, tasty events

We have two, big Pet Community Calendar events to notify you about from one of our Forever Home partners. We will be back to featuring new pets up for adoption beginning early next month but for now, we wanted to let you know about some fundraising opportunities you can get involved with in the Burlington area. The Queen City Cat Lounge will be hosting a clicker training event for your feline friends on Sunday, March 30th from 11 AM to 12 PM. Elizabeth Llewellyn, a feline welfare and behavior specialist with Happy at Home Cat Sitting will be your instructor for this 25 dollar training. This event will help you further your bonding and understanding of your cat, but it will also teach you how to use clicker training as an enrichment tool. Space is limited, so you will want to reserve your spot right away. Meanwhile, Queen City Cats will be aiming to please your tastebuds and your shopping habits during their creatively named 'Spay-ghetti Dinner and Online Auction' event. Queen City Cats encourages you to eat, bid, and save cats on Sunday, April 13th at La Boca Pizzeria. Included in this event will be a three-course meal, a raffle ticket and goodie bag, one drink ticket, and lots of great company. The first seating is at 5 PM and the second at 7:30 PM. However, the online auction opens on April 6th and you can bid on locally donated items through April 13th. For more details about the cat clicker training and much more information about the 'Spay-ghetti Dinner and Auction' including ticket prices for the event, please visit the Queen City Cat's website. Forever Home: Two 'paw-some' adoption updates

This week's edition of Forever Home keeps us in-studio so we can showcase the backlog of Your Pet Photos while also updating you on some really 'paws-itive' news from Queen City Cats. A couple of our former Forever Home features have finally been adopted! You all have to remember Nayla from Queen City Cats, right? She's the fun-loving, chonky, and very playful girl who was on a weight loss journey when we first met. We were introduced to Nayla around the start of the year, but it wasn't until just recently that she secured her Forever Home and human. Their adoption day photos are so sweet, and they look like two peas in a pod. Congratulations to Nayla and her adopter! We have another Queen City Cat and Forever Home alumni that found their permanent human recently, and they didn't even have to go far. Mercy is a gorgeous, female, tux cat that we met many months ago. The owner and founder of Queen City Cats, Miche, just recently adopted Mercy herself and is giving her a new opportunity to enjoy life to its fullest. Mercy couldn't have asked for a better adopter than Miche, someone who is at the top of their cat game all day, every day. We have a Forever Home episode tentatively scheduled for next Tuesday, but it will be another round of Your Pet Photos and adoption updates (from Central Vermont Humane Society). The next time we will introduce you to a new pet for adoption will be around mid-March with our friends at the North Country Animal League. Until then, be well and take care! Sweet bonded cat duo looking for their ‘Forever Home'

Our favorite time of week has made the rounds again as it is Forever Home Tuesday. This week, we reconnected with Queen City Cats and the Queen City Cat Lounge in Burlington. That's where we met a bonded pair of felines named Kitten and Rainbow. They are the perfect pair for each other and would make awesome, laid-back additions to your family home. Rainbow, coincidentally, is the black male cat with stellar yellow eyes. There's even a light blue ring around those yellow eyes, eyes that stand right out amongst his slick, black coat. Rainbow is what the cat community would consider almost like a 'spirit cat'. He is very independent, hesitant about human touch, but loves being in a safe environment where he has a good vantage point to look out onto others. It's important to note that Rainbow, while he may not want a lot of attention, is a super smart boy. He is very food motivated and loves the little Churu gogurt-like tubes of wet food. However, he also loves trying to figure out how to get dry food from out of a puzzle food mat. Rainbow has quite a bit of success with those puzzles but when he gets bored, he's always done for some stringy toy action. That playtime is usually enough to tire him to the point of needing a cat nap, which sometimes is in a secluded spot but that's just part of Rainbow's unique personality. Rainbow's bonded pair is a feline named Kitten. You'd never know they were brother and sister just by looking at their beautiful markings. Their colors are total opposite, but it plays up their differing personalities in that regard. Rainbow, the black cat, is more one speed when it comes to human interaction. Kitten, full of stripes and color, has a little bit more energy and willingness to be around people. Kitten, just like her brother, is very food motivated but also loves playing with her stringy toys. Kitten is such a good girl with a sweet face, and yes, even a little bit of a smile or smirk. If you look closely enough, Kitten has what looks like an upside-down mustache on her chin which kind of outlines her 'smile'. The purrr-fect adopters for Kitten and Rainbow include a family who doesn't mind two laid back cats that like to play and interact with humans on their own time. Outside of those minor requirements, these two are in very good health and have no dietary restrictions. They are ready to be adopted, like, yesterday. If you would like more information about how to welcome Kitten and Rainbow into your heart and home, simply visit the Queen City Cats website. Lastly, we would love to extend a congratulations to Queen City Cats for celebrating their 3 year anniversary of being a cat rescue for the greater Burlington area. Thanks to Queen City Cats, many folks have been able to save, foster, and adopt these furry friends who may not have found homes otherwise. We cannot thank Queen City Cats and the Queen City Cat Lounge enough for all they do for the homeless cat population in the Green 'Meow-ntain' State. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
