EastEnders legend ‘in denial' as he makes unexpected life change after show exit
EastEnders legend James Bye left the show in dramatic fashion when character Martin Fowler was killed off earlier this year, but leaving the BBC soap isn't the only major life change the actor has made this year. Martin died in emotional scenes during the 40th anniversary live episode after being crushed by a beam when the Queen Vic collapsed. Since leaving the show, actor James has been touring the UK with the stage show Death Comes to Pemberley, but now he's taking on a brand new challenge, alongside wife Victoria. Taking to Instagram, Victoria shared the news that the couple, who share four children, had sold their house and moved into a caravan. 'Now, you may wonder what in the hell we're doing (I know we do, both still I denial I think!) But there's method to my madness, I hope… We've decided to selfbuild our own house,' she explained. 'A dream we've long since had & just never had the time… or the belief that we could. And yet somehow, when it feels like we've got more than ever on our plate, we thought. Sod it. It's now or never. This is our year for change… And so we are…' She went on to explain how both of their parents had also built their dream homes, and that James' sister was conceived in their caravan while their house was being built. Their decision received plenty of support in the comments, with Zack Hudson star James Farrar offering to help with the garden. More Trending 'I think you DO have a bloody clue what you're doing – and we can't wait to watch the build,' he wrote. 'I'll help with the garden and bringing good beers for sundowners. Love you lot,' he added. Other followers were quick to wish the family luck on their new adventure, with one saying: 'Good luck! I bet it will be very exciting for the boys! New adventure for the whole family!' View More » 'Absolutely fantastic! I don't envy you living in a caravan but the end result will be awesome! Can't wait to see how it all pans out. EastEnders wedding thrown into chaos as Kat calls things off with Alfie
A misunderstanding puts Kat Slater's (Jessie Wallace) wedding to Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) in jeopardy next week, but will the EastEnders finally have reason to celebrate? It's been quite a quick turnaround for the couple, who are engaged this week in the spur of the moment. Kat had invested in a new limousine business, and when Alfie decided to stage a fake wedding shoot, he decided to put the wheels into motion and make it official. Little did they realise, trouble was brewing back at home, as son Tommy (Sonny Kendall) used Alfie's credit card to purchase pornography online. In upcoming scenes, Kat's left reeling after stumbling across the explicit video on the family laptop – completely unaware that it was actually Tommy who bought it. Assuming the worst, she opens up to Jean Slater (Gillian Wright), fearing that her fiancé might be turning to adult content, especially with things having cooled off in the bedroom since his cancer treatment. Blissfully unaware and trying to reignite the spark, Alfie whips up a romantic meal, but Kat beats him to it – arriving in full seduction mode. The atmosphere soon turns frosty when Alfie slows things down, and a wounded and offended Kat storms off. Jean urges Kat to have an honest chat with her partner, while Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) gives Alfie his own shoulder to cry on. Eventually, the pair sit down for a long-overdue heart-to-heart, hoping to make amends from the situation they've found themselves in. But the peace is short-lived when Kat brings up that video. As the situation escalates, they realise that Tommy is the one responsible. The teen has developed a worrying obsession with adult content, ever since striking up a friendship with newcomer Joel Marshall (Max Murray). His dad Ross (Alex Walkinshaw) and Ross' girlfriend Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) both believe that he could do with some positive male influences, and are pleased to see him bonding with Tommy over his wedding speech. What they don't realise is that both lads are entrapped in a dangerous web of online content. On-off EastEnders couple Kat Slater and Alfie Moon have a long and complicated history, which began when they were part of a will-they-won't-they storyline while working behind the bar of the Queen Vic in 2002. After finally getting together, they tied the knot on Christmas Day 2003, but were ripped apart a year later by Kat's jealous ex, gangster Andy Hunter (Michael Higgs), who threatened to kill Alfie unless Kat slept with him. Realising their feelings for one another were still there, they gave their marriage another shot and left Walford for pastures new at the end of 2005. Five years later, they made a bombshell comeback when it was revealed Kat had been having an affair with Alfie's cousin Michael Moon (Steve John Shepherd) and was pregnant with his son. They eventually reconciled, with Alfie agreeing to bring Tommy up as his own. However, they were heartbroken when their baby 'died' – before it was later revealed Ronnie Mitchell had actually swapped their baby with her son James, who had died from cot death. After a joyous reunion with baby Tommy, the pair were torn apart again when Kat's subsequent affair with Derek Branning (Jamie Foreman) was exposed. But a reconciliation eventually followed – as did their twin sons Bert and Ernie – before Kat and Alfie swapped the Square for Spain in 2016 after winning big on the lottery. Two years later, a broke Kat returned to Walford having split from Alfie again, after cheating on him. When he later followed home, the couple had a short-lived reunion before Alfie was revealed as the father of Kat's cousin Hayley Slater's (Katie Jarvis) baby daughter Cherry. With their relationship in tatters, Alfie did a bunk from Walford in 2019 after scamming £50k out of Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), who Kat later went on to have an unlikely relationship with. When Alfie returned to Albert Square again three years later, he sabotaged Kat's wedding to Phil, but it wasn't enough to split them up and they rescheduled their nuptials. However, after Kat discovered Phil had cheated on her with Emma Harding (Patsy Kensit), the pair split and she moved in with Alfie. As Kat and Alfie's big day rolls around, their happiness is already under threat. Worries about Tommy and the video loom large, and although Alfie vows to have a word with his son, chaos (in true Walford fashion) keeps getting in the way. By the time he confesses to bungling several wedding tasks, Kat's had enough, and calls the whole thing off! More Trending Uh-oh. Alfie is left stunned and furious, charging out of The Vic in frustration. Meanwhile, Kat drowns her sorrows with Elaine Knight (Harriet Thorpe) and Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter), and the trio swap notes on love and loss, with Elaine (or should that be E-laine) offering some unexpected food for thought. As Alfie gets a pep talk from someone unexpected, he's left wondering whether he and Kat still stand a chance. View More » With emotions running high, Kat and Alfie finally sit down to talk. EastEnders actor sells home and moves into caravan after being killed off BBC soap
The actor and his wife are moving into a caravan with their four children and two dogs. EastEnders actor James Bye - who played Martin Fowler - has reportedly sold his home to live in a caravan. The star left Albert Square earlier this year during the soap's 40th birthday episode, when the Queen Vic collapsed, killing off Martin. After his dramatic exit, James, 41, who is currently working theatre, and his wife made a huge life decision. His wife Victoria told her social media followers they have sold their home and moved into caravan - with their four kids and two blind dogs, writes The Mirror. Sharing their surprising news on Instagram, Victoria said: "It's official …because we've only gone and sold our 'forever home'. And not only that. We've done it so that we can move into a field - and into a caravan… "Yes, you read that right. A tin box on wheels with barely enough room to swing a cat let alone four kids + two blind dogs. S**t. Now, you may wonder what in the hell we're doing (I know we do, both still I denial I think!)" Victoria said that living on the road had long been a dream for them both because both their parents had done it in the eighties. Revealing that James' sister was even conceived in a home on wheels, she said: "A dream we've long since had and just never had the time … or the belief that we could. "And yet somehow, when it feels like we've got more than ever on our plate, we thought. Sod it. It's now or never. This is our year for change. And so we are. "I mean, what's could go wrong?! (Er, right. Everything apparently. But let's just breeze over that bit and get back to following your dreams & all that gumph…) Because, really, it has been a bit of a dream of ours for a very long time. "And it's no surprise because both of our parents did the very same thing back in the 80's! And they survived! (just about!) In fact, James' sister was conceived in their caravan right on the foundations of the house they still call home to this day!" Despite James' parents adding to their family whilst living in a caravan, Victoria was adamant that they would not be following suit and she and James would not be adding to their family of six. Speaking about their family plans, she said: "And whilst there is a firm NO on any baby making shenanigans going on in our little love pad, the same belief & hope for something that we've built on our own is there. "It'll be an adventure. A messy, chaotic, mud filled ride - just us & our boys. And we cant wait. We might even get an alpaca. What the hell, in for a penny & all that… "So stick around for the journey you lovely lot - and please - any advice send our way." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!
