Critically acclaimed solo play Jarman coming to Newport

Jarman, which was nominated for Best Solo Performance at the Off-West End Awards 2022, will be at The Riverfront Theatre on Thursday, May 22. The 80-minute performance, written and performed by Mark Farrelly, celebrates the life of Derek Jarman, a filmmaker, painter, writer, gardener, and LGBTQ+ activist. It explores his journey from the pop glamour of Soho to the isolation of Prospect Cottage. The show, which has been performed in Hong Kong, will be in Newport for one night only. It is directed by Sarah-Louise Young. The show has received five-star reviews from Queer Guru, Bum on a Seat, and AJH Loves Theatre. and London Living Large gave it four stars. Queer Guru described it as "a fearless portrait" and "relentlessly inspiring." Bum on a Seat said it was "fabulous, thought-provoking stuff."
