Cable car project up for ministry's nod with feasibility report, proposed routes
Indore: Indore's dream of a cable car system could soon become a reality, with an estimated project cost of around Rs 737 crore. Indore Development Authority (IDA) has submitted a feasibility survey report to the National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML), which forwarded the proposal to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in Delhi for approval and budget allocation. The plan involves operating cable cars on two routes spanning a total of 11 km. The first Chandan Nagar to Shivaji Vatika is 6.24 km route with estimated cost of Rs 369.32 crore. Proposed stations on this route include Chandan Nagar, Labriya Bheru, Yashwant Niwas Road Gurudwara, Sarvate, and Shivaji Vatika. The second Railway Station to Vijay Nagar is 4.7 km route with an estimated cost of Rs 367.68 crore. Stations on this route are proposed at the Railway Station, Malwa Mill, Patnipura, and Vijay Nagar. The NHLML has initiated the process for budget allocation. Once the proposal is approved, the NHLML will proceed with appointing an agency and other necessary procedures for the public transport project. "NHLML has expertise in the development of ropeway projects, which is why the feasibility report was handed over to them. They will now implement the plan to establish this new mode of transport on the two routes in Indore," IDA CEO RP Ahirwar said. Ravindra Gupta, Indore manager, NHLML told TOI, "The feasibility survey report was submitted by the IDA. MR-10 ROB to become 8 lanes for easing traffic ahead of Simhastha 2028
Indore: In a continuous effort to streamline urban traffic, Indore is set to undertake a significant infrastructure upgrade with the expansion of the MR-10 railway over bridge (ROB). This crucial project, estimated at Rs 48 crore, will transform the existing four-lane bridge into an eight-lane structure, with four new lanes extending towards Kumedi. Once completed, the wider ROB is expected to provide substantial relief from traffic congestion for thousands of commuters travelling towards Ujjain, as well as those using the Super Corridor, Ring Road, Vijay Nagar and Metro route. Indore Development Authority (IDA) invited tenders for the construction of the additional four lanes for the MR-10 ROB. Eight agencies expressed interest in the project, and their bids are currently under evaluation. The final agency is expected to be selected within a week, with construction commencing thereafter. This ROB serves as a vital link connecting Indore's rapidly developing Super Corridor and Ujjain Road areas, ensuring seamless traffic flow alongside the Metro line. The expansion is anticipated to significantly alleviate existing traffic bottlenecks. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo The project is slated for completion within 18 months using modern construction techniques. "Tenders for the ROB's construction have been received," stated the authority CEO RP Ahirwar. He added that necessary no-objection certificates (NOCs) from the railways and other departments were already secured to prevent any construction delays. The expanded ROB will have a total length of 713.5 metre and a width of 45 metre. Additionally, the culvert on the Vijay Nagar side will also be widened. Currently, over 15,000 vehicles traverse the existing four-lane ROB daily, often leading to queues and congestion. The addition of four new lanes aims to resolve this issue. The MR-10 ROB was originally constructed approximately two decades ago. But, over time, the rapid development of colonies along the Super Corridor and Ujjain Road, coupled with a significant increase in vehicle traffic to Ujjain following the development of Shree Mahakal Lok, rendered the current four-lane bridge inadequate. The expansion is therefore essential to accommodate the increased traffic volume. Senior officials said, the expanded ROB will play a pivotal role during 2028 Simhastha Kumbh Mela in Ujjain. Millions of pilgrims and vehicles are expected to travel through MR-10 to reach Ujjain. The eight-lane bridge will ensure smoother and faster vehicular movement, leading to reduced travel times and fuel savings. This infrastructure enhancement complements other completed projects, such as the flyover at Luvkush square, further bolstering Indore's preparedness for the massive religious gathering.

New four-lane ROB on MR 10 gets railways nod
1 2 3 4 Indore: The railways has approved General Arrangement Drawing (GAD) of a new four-lane railway over bridge (ROB) paving way for its construction parallel to the existing one on MR-10 to facilitate smooth traffic flow. Now, the Indore Development Authority (IDA) will issue tenders for its construction. The four-lane ROB is targeted to be completed before Ujjain Simhastha 2028 . Its construction will ease vehicular movement and reduce pressure on the current four-lane ROB. Considering the increasing vehicular pressure in the city, flyovers are being constructed at various intersections and ROBs. Additionally, incomplete roads from the master plan are also being completed. In this context, the width of the ROB on the highly busy MR-10 route will be increased. A new four-lane ROB will take shape parallel to the existing ROB towards Kumedi. Following an agreement in the recent board meeting, the IDA sent a proposal to the railways for approval. The railways has now approved GAD. The IDA will now proceed with the further process. The maximum vehicular pressure during Simhastha is expected to be on MR-10, hence a target of completing its construction within two years has been set. The IDA has fixed an estimated cost of Rs 60 crore for the construction of the four-lane ROB. The existing ROB will be used for one direction of traffic, and the new ROB for the other. Currently, the entire vehicular pressure of MR-10 is on the existing ROB. "After the construction of the new four-lane ROB, MR-10 and the Super Corridor will become fully eight-lane. The ROB built on the Super Corridor has already been made eight-lane," the authority CEO RP Ahirwar said. Along with the MR-10 ROB, the width of the culvert built on the Kahn River nearby will also be increased. This culvert is currently four-lane. Along with the construction of the eight-lane ROB, the culvert will also be made eight-lane. This will ensure smooth and unhindered vehicular movement. The MR-4 road being built from Sarwate Bus Station to Kumedi ISBT is also being widened. This road will also connect to MR-10 at Kumedi, increasing the vehicular pressure on MR-10. Additionally, the pressure of buses operating from Kumedi ISBT and vehicles going to Ujjain will also be on the MR-10 ROB. So, the new ROB will ease the traffic.
