Pack of sweets with cash: Rajasthan minister alleges bribery attempt by teacher
Rajasthan's school education minister, Madan Dilawar, has alleged that a government school teacher tried to bribe him, seeking a position on the curriculum writing committee during a public hearing at his said that the incident occurred earlier in the morning at his official residence while he was preparing for a visit to Ramgarh. Chandrakant Vaishnav, the teacher, arrived to meet him there and handed the minister a box of sweets, several documents, and a sealed opening the envelope, Dilawar found Rs 5,000 inside. "I instantly rejected this inappropriate act and handed over the envelope to the police and also directed necessary action against the person concerned," Dilawar said in a post on X. "Zero tolerance policy towards corruption is the basis of good governance," he added. He said he immediately contacted the police to report the incident, and Chandrakant was taken into currently posted as a Grade-3 Level-2 science teacher, expressed his interest in being appointed to the curriculum writing committee. Posted in a village in Banswara district, he had allegedly come to Jaipur with the intention of securing a position on the curriculum committee associated with the Rajasthan State Council of Educational Research and Training (RSCERT).In his application, the teacher allegedly also mentioned that he had been associated with ABVP and the Sangh Parivar since his student years, news agency PTI calling the incident a "painful and unfortunate moment," said that this was the first time in his 35-36 years of political life that someone had presumed he would accept money for official work."This is the most unfortunate incident of my life. Raj to roll out syllabus in line with NCERT for classes 1 to 5
Jaipur: Education department has set a timeline for introducing NCERT-aligned updated syllabus books in schools. As per an official order, students up to Class 5 will receive their new textbooks by July, with the transition beginning this academic session. The updated curriculum, developed by Rajasthan State Council of Educational Research and Training (RSCERT), Udaipur, will be implemented for Classes 1 to 5 starting this session. For Classes 6, 7, 8, 9, and 11, the new curriculum, in line with National Education Policy 2020 and National Curriculum Framework-2023, will be rolled out in the 2026-27 session. For Classes 10 and 12, the new curriculum will be introduced in the 2027-28 academic session, as new textbooks are being developed. The department has directed the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) and RSCERT to prepare an action plan for the new syllabus between May 15 and Oct 31, with a report to be submitted to the state govt. This will ensure that schools provide accurate and quality information to students. Satish Gupta, secretary of state-level syllabus review committee, said, "New books will be ready within a month. Topics related to local culture, life values, and the environment have been added in books for Classes 1-5. The draft for these books will be finalised this week, after which they will be printed." Gupta added that chapters will be added about Meera Bai, Panna Dhai, Maharana Pratap, Rani Lakshmi Bai, among others. "Depending on the age and class, information will be added to the chapters about local leaders and history. For junior classes, small chapters will be added, and it will be increased as per seniority and information grasping capacities," added Gupta.
