Last Updated: In wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, the opposition MPs want to figure out what lapses occurred in the 2019 Pulwama attack and the lessons learnt from it Opposition members of the defence standing committee, which met on Monday, want to raise the issue of security lapses in Jammu and Kashmir. In wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives, the opposition MPs of this committee are likely to demand the report on the 2019 Pulwama attack. They want to figure out what lapses occurred then and what were the lessons learnt from it. The official subject for the meeting on Monday, however, was a review on resettlement policies, healthcare facilities and avenues for ex-servicemen. For this, officials from the ministry of defence deposed before the panel. It has been learnt that several opposition members of the committee, however, want to raise the Kashmir security issue in an upcoming meeting. 'There is no final decision on this, and we are currently considering the matter," an opposition member told News18. In February 2019, terrorists killed 40 CRPF jawans by blowing up a vehicle carrying them on the Jammu-Srinagar highway. Jaish-e-Mohammed had claimed responsibility for the attack and, soon after, India retaliated with the Balakot airstrikes. The defence standing committee meeting began with members observing a two-minute silence for those killed in the deadly terror strike. This panel is chaired by former Union minister Radha Mohan Singh and has several members, who attended the meeting, including leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Sanjay Singh among others.
