Donald Trump Posts All-Caps Memorial Day Message Attacking 'USA Hating Judges' And 'Scum' Who Are 'Trying To Destroy Our Country'
Donald Trump once again celebrated a holiday by lashing out, this time in an attack on the 'scum' who are 'trying to destroy our country' and 'USA hating judges' who have blocked his deportation executive orders. Trump wrote in all caps, 'HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY TO ALL, INCLUDING THE SCUM THAT SPENT THE LAST FOUR YEARS TRYING TO DESTROY OUR COUNTRY THROUGH WARPED RADICAL LEFT MINDS, WHO ALLOWED 21,000,000 MILLION PEOPLE TO ILLEGALLY ENTER OUR COUNTRY, MANY OF THEM BEING CRIMINALS AND THE MENTALLY INSANE,THROUGH AN OPEN BORDER THAT ONLY AN INCOMPETENT PRESIDENT WOULD APPROVE, AND THROUGH JUDGES WHO ARE ON A MISSION TO KEEP MURDERERS, DRUG DEALERS, RAPISTS, GANG MEMBERS, AND RELEASED PRISONERS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD, IN OUR COUNTRY SO THEY CAN ROB, MURDER, AND RAPE AGAIN — ALL PROTECTED BY THESE USA HATING JUDGES WHO SUFFER FROM AN IDEOLOGY THAT IS SICK, AND VERY DANGEROUS FOR OUR COUNTRY. HOPEFULLY THE UNITED STATES SUPREME COURT, AND OTHER GOOD AND COMPASSIONATE JUDGES THROUGHOUT THE LAND, WILL SAVE US FROM THE DECISIONS OF THE MONSTERS WHO WANT OUR COUNTRY TO GO TO HELL. BUT FEAR NOT, WE HAVE MADE GREAT PROGRESS OVER THE LAST 4 MONTHS, AND AMERICA WILL SOON BE SAFE AND GREAT AGAIN! AGAIN, HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY, AND GOD BLESS AMERICA!' A succession of judges have slowed or halted Trump's deportation efforts, including orders that the administration had to give detainees due process. On other holidays, Trump has previously taken to his social media platform, Truth Social, to attack rivals. On Easter, he also went after judges who have stopped his deportations. He wrote then, 'Happy Easter to all, including the Radical Left Lunatics who are fighting and scheming so hard to bring Murderers, Drug Lords, Dangerous Prisoners, the Mentally Insane, and well known MS-13 Gang Members and Wife Beaters, back into our Country.' The White House's ‘Star Wars' misstep adds to Trump's pop culture woes
For 'Star Wars' fans, May 4 is an unofficial holiday of sorts, and as Variety noted, the White House apparently wanted to get in on the fun — in the most Trumpian way possible. The official White House X and Instagram accounts on Sunday posted an AI-generated image of Donald Trump as a beefed-up Jedi in celebration of 'Star Wars' day. The post read, 'Happy May the 4th to all, including the Radical Left Lunatics who are fighting so hard to bring Sith Lords, Murderers, Drug Lords, Dangerous Prisoners, & well known MS-13 Gang Members, back into our Galaxy. You're not the Rebellion — you're the Empire. May the 4th be with you.' (In case this isn't obvious, characters in the film franchise say, 'May The Force be with you.' With this in mind, 'May the Fourth be with you' is a pun.) The fact that Team Trump used the opportunity to lash out at 'Radical Left Lunatics' was not surprising: Two weeks earlier, the president also wrote online, 'Happy Easter to all, including the Radical Left Lunatics.' But in this case, what stood out was not the predictable palaver, but rather, the seemingly AI-generated image of the Republican wielding a red lightsaber — and as fans of the 'Star Wars' franchise know, it's the Sith villains who use red lightsabers, not the Jedi heroes. (New York magazine's Chas Danner took an even deeper dive into all of the nerdy missteps in the White House-backed image.) With this in mind, actor Mark Hamill, best known for playing Luke Skywalker, turned to Bluesky to have a little fun at Trump's expense. Stepping back, I can appreciate why Trump and his team want to try to exploit pop culture to advance their message, but it's hard not to notice just how frequently they flub these efforts. In 2019, for example, the Republican White House tried to use 'Game of Thrones' as part of a clumsy argument about the president's border-wall project, and the whole thing fell apart rather quickly. A year later, Trump talked about the Captain William Bligh character from 'Mutiny on the Bounty,' though it wasn't altogether clear whether the president realized that Bligh was the villain of the story. After his defeat in 2020, Trump talked obsessively about Hannibal Lecter, a fictional character, including a weird instance in which he referred to the infamous cannibal from 'The Silence of the Lambs,' as 'the late, great Hannibal Lecter' and 'a wonderful man.' Soon after, Trump's 2024 running mate, future Vice President JD Vance, pointed to Martin Scorsese's 'Gangs of New York' as an example of immigration leading to higher crime rates — which was wrong on the policy details as well as the artistic narrative. It fell to The Washington Post's Philip Bump to note, '[T]he most brutal, vicious killer in that movie is the nativist who loathes immigrants.' Maybe these guys should just steer clear of making pop culture references? They're clearly not good at it. This article was originally published on

But fans were quick to point out how the image backfired in its messaging as the Trump administration tried to pitch itself as the saviours of the Galaxy. Although the message categorized the president's political enemies as 'Sith Lords' — who are the main villains of Star Wars universe — it was Trump who was wielding a red lightsaber, which is used by Darth Vader and other antagonists who have turned to the dark side of the force. 'The Jedi have blue and green lightsabers except for Mace Windu who has purple because Samuel L Jackson wanted one, and the Sith have red lightsabers. So the White House is making Trump look a Sith because of the red lightsaber which are the bad guys,' one fan posted in a lengthy explanation on X. 'Imagine watching Star Wars your whole life and still thinking the guy with the red lightsaber is the good guy,' a second commented on Instagram, with another writing on X, 'Says a lot that the AI knew to give Trump a red lightsaber…' Your noon-hour look at what's happening in Toronto and beyond. 'Ummm, Red is the colour of the Sith…' another X user added. A fourth asked : 'Why are you holding a red lightsaber though?' 'Good guys are green and blue. Bad guys are red,' a fifth person commented quoting Star Wars creator George Lucas. The Department of Defense's Rapid Response account later tried to pitch Trump as one of the good guys when it shared an image in the likeness of the president holding a green lightsaber alongside Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. '100 days later … The Force is strong with this one!' they wrote in its caption. The posts came after the White House shared an AI image portraying Trump as the Pope to its X and Instagram accounts. After Pope Francis' death last month, Trump joked that he could be the next leader of the Roman Catholic Church. 'I'd like to be pope. That would be my No. 1 choice,' Trump told reporters outside the White House. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. Senator Lindsey Graham endorsed the idea on X, writing: 'I was excited to hear that President Trump is open to the idea of being the next Pope. This would truly be a dark horse candidate, but I would ask the papal conclave and Catholic faithful to keep an open mind about this possibility! The first Pope-U.S. President combination has many upsides. Watching for white smoke…. Trump MMXXVIII!' But his comments drew immediate criticism from church leaders representing the world's 1.4 billion Catholics. — The White House (@WhiteHouse) May 3, 2025 This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. 'There is nothing clever or funny about this image, Mr. President,' the New York State Catholic Conference wrote in a message shared to X. 'We just buried our beloved Pope Francis and the cardinals are about to enter a solemn conclave to elect a new successor of St. Peter. Do not mock us.' Meanwhile, Trump has announced that he plans to impose a 100% tariff on movies that are filmed outside of the United States. 'The Movie Industry in America is DYING a very fast death,' he said on Truth Social, declaring that films shot outside the U.S. are 'a National Security threat.' ' Other Countries are offering all sorts of incentives to draw our filmmakers and studios away from the United States. Hollywood, and many other areas within the U.S.A., are being devastated,' he wrote. 'It is, in addition to everything else, messaging and propaganda! Therefore, I am authorizing the Department of Commerce, and the United States Trade Representative, to immediately begin the process of instituting a 100% Tariff on any and all Movies coming into our Country that are produced in Foreign Lands. WE WANT MOVIES MADE IN AMERICA, AGAIN!' This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. "Hollywood is being destroyed. You have a grossly incompetent governor that allowed that to happen... Other nations have stolen our movie should have a tariff on movies that come sort of a threat to our country in a sense" - Pres. Trump on movie tariffs — Howard Mortman (@HowardMortman) May 5, 2025 This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. Speaking to reporters, Trump claimed other countries have been ' stealing the … movie-making capability of the United States.' ' I have done some very strong research over the last week, and we are making very few movies now. Hollywood is being destroyed,' he said. 'Now you have a grossly incompetent governor that allowed that to happen, so I am not just blaming other nations, but other nations, a lot of them, have stolen our movie industry. If they are not willing to make a movie inside the United States, and we should have a tariff on movies that come in. And not only that, governments are actually giving big money. They are supporting them financially. So that is sort of a threat to our country in a sense.' Earlier this year, Trump charged Mel Gibson , Jon Voight and Sylvester Stallone with devising a plan to bring business back to Hollywood. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. Trump's tariff threat should cause some worry in Canada. White House celebrates Star Wars Day with image of buff, lightsaber-wielding Trump
Make the Galaxy Great Again. The White House has heralded Star Wars Day with an eye-catching AI-generated image of a buff-looking President Trump wielding a red lightsaber and characterising him as a Sith slayer, the New York Post reports. Mr Trump, 78, looked stoic in the image, with bulging biceps and the American flag, as well as bald eagles behind him, in the stunning social media post by the White House. 'Happy May the 4th to all, including the Radical Left Lunatics who are fighting so hard to … bring Sith Lords, Murderers, Drug Lords, Dangerous Prisoners, & well known MS-13 Gang Members, back into our Galaxy,' the White House wrote on X. 'You're not the Rebellion — you're the Empire. May the 4th be with you.' Mr Trump has frequently celebrated holidays by passively aggressively wishing his enemies well. On Easter, for example, he said, 'Happy Easter to all, including the Radical Left Lunatics.' Typically, in Star Wars canon, those who wield red lightsabers are considered evil Sith lords, while the Jedi heroes tend to use blue or green coloured laser swords. Because red is the colour associated with the Republican Party, the White House went with that for Mr Trump's laser sword in the AI image. The president refrained from marking Star Wars Day on his Truth Social account — at least as of press time. On Saturday, Mr Trump stepped into controversy by posting an AI image of him as the Pope, something that comes days before the Vatican convenes a conclave to appoint the next Holy Father. Last week, he joked about being the successor to Pope Francis. Other factions of the government have celebrated Star Wars Day. 'Across every galaxy — known and unknown — no force rivals our discipline, strength, and precision. We don't just defend the world. We protect the future. Victory is forged, not found,' the US Army wrote on X with an image of soldiers carrying lightsabers. 'May the 4th be with you. #Readiness #Lethality #BeAllYouCanBe #maythe4thbewithyou (AI-enhanced).' The Department of Defense posted a tongue-in-cheek video using the Star Wars opening credits to tout some of its accomplishments during Mr Trump's first 100 days in office. Unlike the White House, DOD gave Trump a green lightsaber to avoid any confusion between him and Sith lords. The Department of the Interior also paid homage to the iconic Sci-Fi franchise by invoking Luke Skywalker and Yoda. 'May the 4th be with you. Be on the LUKEout on public lands. YODA never know what or who you might JABBA into. Find your galaxy far, far away at a public land near you!' the department wrote. Trump has frequently shared AI images of himself in various flattering sci-fi forms. In 2022, he revealed his first-ever digital trading card collection, featuring glamorous and stylised photos of him as a superhero, astronaut, warrior and more.

Fans created the phrase 'May the 4th be with you.' It sounds like 'May the force be with you,' a line from the Star Wars phrase was used in a U.K. political ad in 1979. It appeared after Margaret Thatcher's election post aimed to mark Star Wars Day and share a message about Trump's political opposition using Star Wars lightsabers are used by Star Wars villains. Since Trump was shown as a Jedi, the red color confused some viewers.
