Trump vs Senator: US President tells Chuck Schumer to 'go to hell' amid nominations row
Amid the row over nominations in the Senate, US President Donald Trump told Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer to "go to hell." In a Truth Social post, Trump slammed Schumer's demand for federal funds to be released and called on Republicans to avoid striking a deal in the Senate. Hours after President Trump told Schumer to "go to hell," the Senate headed for its August recess and failed to reach a deal over Trump's nominations.(AP) "Senator Cryin' Chuck Schumer is demanding over One Billion Dollars in order to approve a small number of our highly qualified nominees, who should right now be helping to run our Country. This demand is egregious and unprecedented, and would be embarrassing to the Republican Party if it were accepted," Trump wrote on Truth Social. The president further alleged that Schumer was under "tremendous political pressure from within his own party, the Radical Left Lunatics." "Tell Schumer, who is under tremendous political pressure from within his own party, the Radical Left Lunatics, to GO TO HELL! Do not accept the offer, go home and explain to your constituents what bad people the Democrats are, and what a great job the Republicans are doing," Trump added in his post. Schumer responded to Trump's social media post and told reporters that the President "did not get his way." "He bullied us, he cajoled us, he called us names, and he went home with nothing," Schumer further said. Senate heads for recess after nomination bid fails Hours after President Trump told Schumer to "go to hell," the Senate headed for its August recess and failed to reach a deal over Trump's nominations. The house is now set to resume in September and Republicans are expected to change Senate rules to speed up the pace of confirmations for Trump's nominations. Since the start of his term, Senate Democrats have blocked many nominees this year as part of an attempt to block out unanimous consent votes. Amid this move, Trump has added pressure on GOP senators to move quickly. The latest tussle between Democrats and Republicans comes amid Trump's nominations to the judiciary. Ahead of Saturday's session, Trump had placed great pressure on Republicans to reach a deal and cancel the August recess if needed. However, after his public attack on Schumer, Trump told Republicans to pack it up and go back to their respective states.

Senate heads home with no deal to speed confirmations as irate Trump tells Schumer to 'go to hell'
WASHINGTON -- The Senate left Washington Saturday night for its monthlong August recess without a deal to advance dozens of President Donald Trump's nominees, calling it quits after days of contentious bipartisan negotiations and Trump posting on social media that Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer can 'GO TO HELL!' Without a deal in hand, Republicans say they may try to change Senate rules when they return in September to speed up the pace of confirmations. Trump has been pressuring senators to move quickly as Democrats blocked more nominees than usual this year, denying any fast unanimous consent votes and forcing roll calls on each one, a lengthy process that can take several days per nominee. 'I think they're desperately in need of change," Senate Majority Leader John Thune said of Senate rules Saturday after negotiations with Schumer and Trump broke down. "I think that the last six months have demonstrated that this process, nominations is broken. And so I expect there will be some good robust conversations about that.' Schumer said a rules change would be a 'huge mistake," especially as Senate Republicans will need Democratic votes to pass spending bills and other legislation moving forward. 'Donald Trump tried to bully us, go around us, threaten us, call us names, but he got nothing," Schumer said. The latest standoff comes as Democrats and Republicans have gradually escalated their obstruction of the other party's executive branch and judicial nominees over the last two decades, and as Senate leaders have incrementally changed Senate rules to speed up confirmations — and make them less bipartisan. In 2013, Democrats changed Senate rules for lower court judicial nominees to remove the 60-vote threshold for confirmations as Republicans blocked President Barack Obama's judicial picks. In 2017, Republicans did the same for Supreme Court nominees as Democrats tried to block Trump's nomination of Justice Neil Gorsuch. Trump has been pressuring Senate Republicans for weeks to cancel the August recess and grind through dozens of his nominations as Democrats have slowed the process. But Republicans hoped to make a deal with Democrats instead, and came close several times over the last few days as the two parties and the White House negotiated over moving a large tranche of nominees in exchange for reversing some of the Trump administration's spending cuts on foreign aid, among other issues. The Senate held a rare weekend session on Saturday as Republicans held votes on nominee after nominee and as the two parties tried to work out the final details of a deal. But it was clear that there would be no agreement when Trump attacked Schumer on social media Saturday evening and told Republicans to pack it up and go home. 'Tell Schumer, who is under tremendous political pressure from within his own party, the Radical Left Lunatics, to GO TO HELL!' Trump posted on Truth Social. 'Do not accept the offer, go home and explain to your constituents what bad people the Democrats are, and what a great job the Republicans are doing, and have done, for our Country.' Thune said afterward that there were 'several different times' when the two sides thought they had a deal, but in the end 'we didn't close it out.' It's the first time in recent history that the minority party hasn't allowed at least some quick confirmations. Thune has already kept the Senate in session for more days, and with longer hours, this year to try and confirm as many of Trump's nominees as possible. But Democrats had little desire to give in without the spending cut reversals or some other incentive, even though they too were eager to skip town after several long months of work and bitter partisan fights over legislation. 'We have never seen nominees as flawed, as compromised, as unqualified as we have right now,' Schumer said.

Donald Trump Looking to Get Rid of Tesla He Bought From Elon Musk: Report
President Donald Trump is reportedly looking to give away or sell the Tesla Model S he bought from Elon Musk in March Trump bought the car in response to "Radical Left Lunatics" boycotting Musk's companies for his ties to the administration Since Musk left his White House role on May 30, the former allies have been publicly feuding over Trump's government spending bill President Donald Trump is ridding the White House of Elon Musk mementos. ABC News reported on Friday that Trump is considering "either giving away or selling" the red Tesla Model S he bought in March to support Musk, per a senior administration official. The president purchased the electric vehicle, valued at around $80,000, after the pair posed in front of the White House with several Tesla vehicles on March 11. The stunt was a response to "Radical Left Lunatics" boycotting Musk's company over his ties to the Trump administration, Trump said on Truth Social at the time. However, Musk left his role as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) on May 30 and has been publicly feuding with the president ever since. Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill" is the main point of contention for the tech billionaire, who has complained that the behemoth government spending plan will undo any savings he and DOGE brought to the administration. "I'm sorry, but I just can't stand it anymore," Musk posted to X on June 3. "This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it." The pair have continued to trade barbs all week. Musk claimed that Trump is named in the infamous Jeffrey Epstein files, alleging that's why they haven't been released to the public as promised. Trump threatened to cut off Musk's government subsidies and contracts. The SpaceX CEO then agreed with an X user who called for Trump to be impeached, while MAGA advisor Steve Bannon called for Musk to be deported. During an Oval Office press conference on June 5 — minutes after Musk reposted some of Trump's old tweets to use his 2013 criticisms of the debt ceiling against him — the president said he was "disappointed" by the recent social media attacks, and hinted that the Tesla brand might be a major reason for Musk's ire. "Elon knew the inner workings of this bill better than almost anyone sitting here," the president claimed. "He had no problem with it. All of a sudden he had a problem, and he only developed the problem when he found out that we're going to have to cut the [electric vehicle] mandate, because that's billions and billions of dollars." "Elon and I had a great relationship," Trump added, noting the past tense. "I don't know if we will anymore." The feud has gone viral, with plenty of politicians, pundits and social media users poking fun at the spat between the former allies. Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez joked with Spectrum 1 News on June 5, saying, 'Oh man, the girls are fighting, aren't they?' 'You know, I would say that this was something that was a long time coming, where we've been seeing that these two huge egos were not long for being together in this world as friends,' Ocasio-Cortez added. 'And so I think this breakup, we've been seeing a long time coming. But we'll see what the impacts are of it, legislatively.' Read the original article on People
