Mandya Deputy Commissioner Kumar on Tuesday directed officials of the Agriculture Department to expedite crop survey works and ensure their accuracy. He emphasised that reports from the survey are crucial for assessing the extent of agricultural and horticultural crops in Mandya district. It is also crucial for preparing crop loss reports that are required to seek assistance of the National Disaster Response Force during natural calamities. Zilla Panchayat CEO K.R. Nandini proposed that under food processing initiatives, NRLM Self-Help Groups could start units such as traditional oil mills, Maddur vade (a popular snack), and chips production.
