Criminal arrested in Sitamarhi
Sitamarhi: Acting on a tip-off, a police team nabbed a criminal, Raja Kumar, along with a country made pistol, two live cartridges, a motorcycle and a cellphone from a thatched house at Balua village under Majorganj police station area in Sitamarhi district on Saturday. He is a native of Maniyari village under Punaura police station in the district. Raja, who has a criminal antecedent, didn't produce any valid paper for his bike. Video: Army builds 90-ft Bailey bridge in Uttarkashi to reconnect flood-hit areas
The Indian Army, in a swift mission in the cloudburst-hit Dharali area of Uttarakhand, has constructed a crucial Bailey bridge, restoring connectivity to cut-off regions and facilitating the transport of rescue teams and relief supplies to stranded bridge, built jointly by the Army and the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) after an overnight operation, now awaits the construction of approach roads to allow vehicles to reach Dharali, where four people were killed, and scores remain missing and stranded after a flash flood washed away the village days along the Gangotri National Highway, the Bailey bridge spans the Limchagad between Gangnani and Dharali. With a load capacity of nearly 50 tonnes, it is expected to significantly aid rescue operations in the challenging Himalayan terrain. 'It is a 90-foot triple-single Bailey bridge. The work is almost complete, with only minor finishing tasks pending, which will be done shortly,' BRO Commander KVN Raja Kumar told India Today at the site, just before construction was Secretary Shailesh Bagauli said that until the approach roads are repaired, horses and mules should be used to transport essential supplies to the affected villages. He has also directed officials to ensure the supply of 2,000 litres of diesel per day to Dharali and to facilitate the delivery of LPG cylinders to those impacted. Authorities are also clearing blockages along the highway at Songad, Dabrani, Harsil, and Dharali on a war footing. Over 885 kg of adulterated dairy products seized in Dhanbad
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Dhanbad (Jharkhand), Jul 22 (PTI) Over 885 kg of adulterated dairy products, including 780 Kg of paneer, were seized from a bus in Jharkhand's Dhanbad district on Tuesday, an official said. The dairy products were loaded at Bakhtiyarpur in Bihar's Patna district and were scheduled to be supplied in different shops in Dhanbad, he said. The adulterated products, including 780 kg of paneer, 80 kg of Khowa, 25 kg of Peda and 25 Kg of ladoos, were seized from the bus, Dhanbad Food Safety Officer (FSO) Raja Kumar said. 'Based on a tip-off, we started special checking of buses near Puja Talkies under Sadar police station from 3 am on Tuesday. The adulterated items were being unloaded from the bus around 4 am. We seized them and conducted an on-the-spot test. All the items were found adulterated up to 60 per cent," Kumar said. The samples have been sent to the state Lab at Namkum in Ranchi for proper testing, he added. The department has also issued a notice to the bus owner for loading food items without obtaining a food supply license. 'The action would be initiated under the Food Safety Standard Act (FSSA) 2006, against the bus owner," he said. A special campaign against adulterated food items has been underway as per the directive of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Civil Surgeon (CS), Kumar said. Four criminals arrested with pistols, cash in Patna
Patna: Four criminals were arrested with two pistols and Rs 3 lakh cash from a car at a village under Piplawan police station of Patna district on Saturday. Piplawan station in-charge Sagar Kumar said, "The arrested persons are identified as Raja Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar, and Nitish Kumar, residents of Masaurhi, while the fourth accused, Pramod Kumar, hails from Saran. " Police are investigating the group's intentions, the source of the recovered cash, and the ownership details of the vehicle, he added.
