UP man hides religious identity, age; abducts NEET aspirant from Kota
Kota, Jul 17 (PTI) A 25-year-old man befriended a minor medical aspirant on social media by hiding his religious identity and age, and abducted her from her hostel in Rajasthan's Kota, police said on Thursday. The accused, identified as Lucknow resident Mohammed Rajak, has been arrested and booked for kidnapping and wrongful confinement under sections of BNS and Juvenile Justice Act and sent to judicial custody on Wednesday, they said. The girl has been rescued, the police added. The 15-year-old girl, a native of Bihar, was preparing for NEET in Kota while living in a hostel, they said. The girl revealed that Rajak introduced him as 18- year-old Aadi from Lucknow on Instagram and befriended her around six months ago. Since then she had been in contact with him on social media, CWC chairperson Rajendra Singh Rathod told on Thursday. The accused reached Kota by a hired cab earlier last week and lured the girl into leaving Kota with him. On July 11, they left for Lucknow by cab, Rathod said. On the way, the girl got suspicious of the youth when he made her switch off her mobile and crushed her SIM card into pieces. The girl grew more suspicious when she heard him speaking to someone on call in a different dialect, the CWC chairperson said. Stunned with revelation, the girl somehow managed to get Rajak's phone and called her sister, who asked her to immediately reach the nearest police station, he said. Meanwhile, in Kota the girl's hostel caretaker registered a case of kidnapping the same day the accused with the girl had left Kota, the police said. Taking serious note of the matter, the City SP formed three teams that tracked the cab owner and its driver within hours after the report and convinced the driver to reach the nearest police station in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi, Kundadi Circle Inspector Arvind Bhardwaj said. At Jhansi police station, Rajak was arrested and the minor was taken into custody and was produced before CWC on Sunday on basis of statements during counselling, he said. The accused was produced before court on Wednesday and sent to judicial custody, he added. Bengal Police get details on how arrested spies helped Pak handlers get Indian numbers for WhatsApp
The sleuths of the Special Task Force (STF) of West Bengal Police have secured specific information on how Mukesh Rajak and Rakesh Kumar Gupta, the two suspected ISI linkmen arrested in the state earlier this week, used to help their handlers in Pakistan to get Indian mobile numbers for WhatsApp messaging purposes. In the face of interrogation, the duo who are in police custody now have admitted that they used to procure prepaid mobile cards from the market using multiple Indian identity cards. After those SIM cards and numbers were activated, the duo used to pass them to their Pakistani handlers. Subsequently, those numbers were used to open fake WhatsApp accounts. The duo also used to share the OTPs with their Pakistani handlers, required to activate WhatsApp for those numbers. Sources said that to operate silently without much attention, the duo started operating under the garb of an NGO and that too from a rented accommodation in a place like Memari in East Burdwan district, which otherwise does not have many records of crime-related activities. The state police insiders said the duo gave contradictory introductions about themselves to the owner of the apartment they rented and to their neighbours. While to the owner, they introduced themselves as teachers of the English language; to the neighbours, they introduced themselves as heads of an NGO involved in different social welfare activities. As told by the neighbours to the investigating officials, although in the locality Rajak and Gupta were known as true gentlemen, their interactions in the locality were limited. The neighbours also told the cops that at times, some people used to come to meet them and stay at the rented accommodation for some time. While Rajak was a resident of Panagarh in the West Burdwan district, Gupta was a resident of Bhawanipur in South Kolkata. The cops doubt that Gupta and Rajak were part of a major espionage racket. The investigating officials have already seized the mobile phones of the duo. The investigating officials are tracking the period when the arrested men had been operating as ISI linkmen, and also what kind of information they shared with their associates in Pakistan.

Bengal duo helped ISI set up honey trap
Kolkata: Two men, Mukesh Rajak and Rakesh Kumar Gupta, arrested by the Bengal STF from East Burdwan for reportedly helping Pakistan-backed ISI operatives, played an important role in setting up honey traps. The ISI agents used the WhatsApp numbers and OTPs, shared by Rajak and Gupta, to pose as women and then trap men from defence and other crucial fields. While the two denied direct links with ISI, they confessed to transmitting information through SIM and OTPs to contacts in Delhi and Mumbai. Investigators found substantial financial transactions in both personal and organisational accounts, now under scrutiny. Both their mobiles provided leads, said police. "Rajak and Gupta have been involved in these activities for about three years, establishing their base in East Burdwan early this year," said a senior STF officer. "We are examining their phone records, bank accounts and organisational documents to uncover the full extent of their operations."
