Will make efforts to enhance devotee experience during Dasara: NTR Collector

The NTR district administration and police department will take all out efforts to enhance devotee experience at the Indrakeeladri temple during the Dasara celebrations this year, said District Collector G. Lakshmisha and Police Comissioner S.V. Rajasekhar Babu. Addressing the media after holding a coordination committee meeting to discuss the modalities for the conduct of the Dasara festivities, scheduled from September 22, at the Collectorate in Vijayawada on Tuesday, Mr. Lakshmisha said artificial intelligence (AI) and technical tools would be used to improve the overall experience of devotees coming to the temple. The participants included Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam executive officer V.K. Seena Naik, officials from the Revenue, Medical, Civil Supplies, Endowments, Police, Vijayawada Municipal Department, Transport, among others. The Collector discussed the work to be taken up by different departments. Directions were given to the departments regarding the arrangements, which included queue lines, barricading, booking systems, medical camps, issuance of special passes, installing signboards, among others. Mr. Lakshmisha noted that the number of devotees visiting the temple during the 10-day festivities has been increasing every year and that this time, around 1 lakh devotees are expected every day. He added that on the day of Moola Nakshatra, around 2 lakh devotees are expected. A command control room would be set up to provide 24 hour service and also for continuous monitoring. The control room will have an official from every department, he added. The Collector said feedback would be taken from the public from time to time on the arrangements. All arrangements should be ready by September 20, the Collector said. Later, Mr. Rajasekhar Babu said the police department would rectify the minor gaps identified last year to ensure that devotees do not face any problems. He said that while last year only three or four drones were deployed for use during the festivities, the number has now increased to 42. Around 5,000 CCTVs have been installed in the Commissionerate limits, he added. The CP said apps such as ASTraM would be used to ensure hassle-free traffic and parking.

TTD suspends official for professing alien faith

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has suspended its Assistant Executive Officer A. Rajasekhar Babu, on charges of professing an alien faith, in violation of the declaration provided at the time of appointment to adhere to the Hinduism. It recently came to the notice of the TTD management that Mr. Babu regularly attended the church and prayed every Sunday in his hometown of Puttur in Tirupati district. 'It is nothing but the violation of the TTD norms, as he (Rajasekhar Babu) has not followed the code of conduct as an employee. He has acted irresponsibly as an employee representing a Hindu religious organisation,' a TTD release said. The employees, while joining the TTD service, are required to take an oath and sign a declaration that they will follow the Hindu Dharma and practise Hindu traditions only, in compliance with Rule 9 (vi) of the Service Rules issued in Revenue (Endowments-1), dated 24 October, 1989. The TTD's Vigilance department, which probed the issue, gathered evidence against Mr. Rajasekhar Babu and submitted a report, based on which the departmental action was initiated as per the rules. The TTD management, at its trust board meeting on November 18, 2024, resolved to surrender the non-Hindus working in the temple administration in various capacities to the government. According to a report made available in 2018, there are 44 employees of other religious faiths working with the TTD.

TTD Suspends Official For Attending Church Prayers, Cites Violation Of Hindu Code Of Conduct

Last Updated: In a statement on Tuesday, the TTD said Rajasekhar Babu was found participating in church prayers every Sunday, an act deemed to be in violation of the organisation's norms. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), which oversees the administration of the revered Sri Venkateshwara Swamy temple in Andhra Pradesh, has suspended Assistant Executive Officer A. Rajasekhar Babu for allegedly attending Christian prayer services in his hometown of Puttur, located in Tirupati district. In an official statement on Tuesday, the TTD said Rajasekhar Babu was found participating in church prayers every Sunday, an act deemed to be in violation of the organisation's norms. 'It is nothing but a violation of TTD norms as he has not followed the code of conduct of the TTD as an employee of the organisation, and has acted irresponsibly as an employee representing a Hindu religious organisation," the temple trust stated. Based on a detailed report submitted by its Vigilance Department and other evidence, the TTD said it had taken immediate disciplinary action under its rules and placed the official under suspension. This is not the first instance of action against employees for practising non-Hindu religious customs. In February, the TTD initiated disciplinary proceedings against 18 staff members, including six teachers, who were found participating in non-Hindu rituals. Among them were senior personnel such as a deputy executive officer, an assistant executive officer, and two electricians. Following the instructions of TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu, all 18 employees were barred from involvement in temple-related religious duties and reassigned from postings at Tirumala or any other religious function. The disciplinary actions were based on violations of Rule 9 (vi) under Government Order No. 1060 issued by the Revenue Department (Endowments) on October 24, 1989, which mandates strict adherence to Hindu traditions by TTD staff. 'Violated oath to follow Hinduism': Tirupati temple board suspends official for attending church; probe confirms regular Sunday visits

TIRUPATI: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on Tuesday suspended A Rajasekhar Babu, an assistant executive officer (AEO) rank official for allegedly practising another religion in violation of the declaration at the time of appointment of adhering to Hinduism. He was working in the auction section of the marketing department of the temple trust. The trust recently ordered a vigilance inquiry on Rajasekhar Babu's activities after allegations surfaced that he regularly visited a local church every Sunday in his native town Puttur. After the vigilance inquiry concluded that the allegations were true, TTD issued suspension orders on Tuesday. "It is a clear case of violation of the TTD norms, as he has not followed the code of conduct for employees of the organisation and has acted irresponsibly as an employee representing a Hindu religious organisation," an official TTD statement read on Tuesday. As per rule 9 (vi) of the service rules issued in 1989, all employees, while joining the TTD, are required to take an oath and sign a declaration that they would follow only the Hindu dharma and traditions throughout their service in the TTD. The trust's board, headed by chairman BR Naidu, had resolved on Nov 18 last year to oust all non-Hindus working in the organisation by offering them to opt for a specially designed voluntary retirement package.
