Rani Kamalapati Railway Station is the first railway station in the country to be developed and operated under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. On November 15, 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated this state-of-the-art station. It was dedicated to the Gond Queen Rani Kamalapati in her honor. What was the former name of Rani Kamalapati Station? 'The redeveloped Rani Kamalapati Railway station, named after brave and fearless Queen Kamalapati of the Gond kingdom, is the first world-class railway station in Madhya Pradesh. Redeveloped in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode, the station has been designed as a green building with modern world class amenities that also takes into account ease of mobility for divyangjans. The station is also developed as a hub for integrated multi-modal transport,' reads the press release (dated November 14, 2021). This station underwent a complete change under the Station Modernization Mission by Indian Railways, providing many world-class facilities to passengers that include: A spacious concourse area and a modern waiting lounge Solar panel-powered infrastructure, promoting green energy High-tech security systems with CCTV surveillance Food courts and other branded retail outlets are to enhance the travel experience.

Rani Kamalapati Railway Station in Bhopal is India's first railway station developed through a public-private partnership (PPP) model. Earlier known as Habibganj Railway Station, it has been beautifully rebuilt and designed on the lines of Germany's Heidelberg Railway Station. This station is not only modern and stylish, but also provides an airport-like experience to passengers. It is built with world-class facilities to make travel easier and more comfortable for everyone, including senior citizens and people with disabilities. Rani Kamalapati Railway Station is part of the West Central Railway Zone (WCR) and serves as the headquarters for the Bhopal railway division. It is the first railway station in India to be managed and maintained by a private company. The station is full of modern features fast escalators, lifts, clean platforms, and large waiting areas. Many premium trains like Rajdhani Express, Shatabdi Express, Duronto Express, Vande Bharat Express, Garib Rath, Gatimaan Express, and Tejas Express stop at this station. The entire layout of the station has been planned to give passengers a smooth and pleasant experience. Modern amenities redefining consumer experience There is a large covered parking area, so vehicles can come and go without trouble. The station is also part of an integrated transport network, which means passengers can easily switch between buses, autos, or other transport options without hassle. For shopping and food lovers, the station has a vibrant retail zone. There are several shops, well-known brand stores, offices, and a big food court with many restaurants. Passengers can enjoy good food and buy essential items while waiting for their trains. There is air conditioning in the lounges and waiting areas, making it more relaxing and easier for passengers to wait before boarding trains. These spaces are furnished with sufficient chairs for between 700 and 100 passengers in the free area. All passengers, regardless of age or limitations in physical mobility, can use the high-speed escalators and lifts as a means to get around the station. Safety is a top priority at the station as around 160 CCTV cameras keep an eye on every corner of the station 24/7. Cleanliness is also maintained at a very high standard, almost like a five-star hotel. The station building looks like a beautiful palace and is named after Rani Kamalapati, the last queen of the Gond dynasty. She was known for her strength and grace, and the station is a tribute to her legacy. Maintenance of the station The responsibility of maintaining the station has been given to the Bansal Group, which has signed an 8-year contract. They take care of the station's upkeep and ensure everything runs smoothly.
