Warm coastal day expected for KwaZulu-Natal despite cloud cover
KwaZulu-Natal will be warm on Tuesday, 12 August. Warmer conditions will be along the coast, and cooler weather will be inland. Forecaster Mpho Rasimphi said Durban could peak at 25°C, while Richards Bay will enjoy similar conditions. While the coast will remain mild, the inland areas will experience cooler conditions due to cloud cover and rain. The mix of temperatures may lead to varied weather patterns across the province. Rasimphi noted: 'Even with the cloud cover and showers, the coastal areas will remain warm, while inland towns will feel significantly cooler.' Cool day expected in Gauteng and morning fog
Gauteng will experience a cool day on Tuesday, with light showers possible in some areas and patches of morning fog expected to reduce visibility. Forecaster Mpho Rasimphi said cooler conditions will dominate the province. 'Johannesburg will see a high of 20°C to 21°C, while Pretoria remains slightly warmer,' Rasimphi explained. Motorists are urged to take extra caution during the early morning hours, especially in fog-prone areas. Rasimphi noted that reduced visibility could impact traffic flow on key routes. 'Where fog patches occur, visibility will be significantly reduced in the morning, so please be careful, especially for those travelling early,' Rasimphi said. Overnight temperatures will remain low, with chilly mornings expected throughout the week. The freezing conditions seen in other provinces will not extend into Gauteng, but residents should still prepare for cool mornings. Some light showers are expected over parts of the province, particularly in areas bordering Mpumalanga. Rasimphi said rainfall will not be widespread. 'We are looking at a 30% chance of showers in parts of the province, but much of Gauteng will remain dry,' he explained. While parts of Limpopo and Mpumalanga are forecast to experience drizzle and fog, Gauteng's conditions will remain relatively stable, with afternoon sunshine breaking through the clouds in some areas. KwaZulu-Natal to enjoy warm coastal weather
KwaZulu-Natal will see warm and sunny weather across most parts, particularly along the coast. Areas like Richards Bay are expected to reach highs of 24°C, offering a reprieve from the cold gripping central South Africa. Forecaster Mpho Rasimphi said, 'Warm conditions will persist into the coast over KwaZulu-Natal. Richards Bay will peak at around 24 degrees.' While the Western Cape braces for a cold front, KwaZulu-Natal remains unaffected. However, inland regions might experience slightly cooler conditions with increased cloud cover. 'KZN will remain clear,' Rasimphi confirmed. 'We're not expecting any rainfall or strong winds in the province. The coastal belt will be the warmest region nationally tomorrow.' The inland towns, particularly in the Midlands, may experience cool early mornings and evenings, but the overall weather will be stable. No warnings have been issued for KwaZulu-Natal. 'It will be a quiet weather day for the province,' Rasimphi said. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Cold front to sweep across the Western Cape for two days
A powerful cold front will move into the Western Cape from Wednesday, bringing a significant drop in temperatures, rain, and damaging winds. Cape Town and surrounding areas will bear the brunt of this winter system. Mpho Rasimphi, a forecaster, warned, 'We are expecting a 60% chance of showers and rain over Cape Town, extending into the adjacent interior. Winds could also damage parts of the Northern and Eastern Cape.' The South African Weather Service has issued a Level 2 warning for the interior of the Northern Cape due to a high likelihood of damaging winds. A Level 1 warning has also been issued for parts of the Eastern Cape. 'Please be careful tomorrow,' Rasimphi said. 'Winds can cause minor impacts such as fallen tree branches and reduced visibility, especially inland.' While Cape Town is forecast to reach 17°C, the cold front will bring a chill factor that makes it feel closer to 10°C. Thursday will see continued cold with rain expected across the province. 'Behind the cold front, we're expecting a very cool day, especially over Cape Town,' Rasimphi explained. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Clear days and chilly nights expected in Gauteng
Gauteng will experience clear daytime weather under clear skies, but nighttime temperatures are set to dip sharply this week. While the region remains unaffected by the incoming cold front hitting the Western Cape, forecasters advise residents to prepare for chilly mornings and evenings. According to Mpho Rasimphi, a weather forecaster, 'Gauteng will remain mostly clear, with Johannesburg reaching highs of around 19 degrees. However, temperatures will drop significantly at night.' This pattern continues from the trend of stable conditions over Limpopo and Mpumalanga. The cold front sweeping through the Western Cape will not directly impact Gauteng. Instead, Gauteng and its surrounding provinces will stay mostly cloud-free. 'Tomorrow is going to be a clear day for Gauteng,' Rasimphi explained. 'While parts of the Northern and Eastern Cape face damaging winds, Gauteng will enjoy stable and dry conditions.' Although the days will be pleasant, the evenings and early mornings could be uncomfortable. Bethlehem, located nearby in the Free State, expects a minimum of -3°C. Rasimphi noted, 'Over parts of central South Africa, including areas near Gauteng, overnight temperatures will hover around zero. It's going to be a relatively chilly night.'
