Cool day expected in Gauteng and morning fog

Gauteng will experience a cool day on Tuesday, with light showers possible in some areas and patches of morning fog expected to reduce visibility.
Forecaster Mpho Rasimphi said cooler conditions will dominate the province.
'Johannesburg will see a high of 20°C to 21°C, while Pretoria remains slightly warmer,' Rasimphi explained.
Motorists are urged to take extra caution during the early morning hours, especially in fog-prone areas. Rasimphi noted that reduced visibility could impact traffic flow on key routes.
'Where fog patches occur, visibility will be significantly reduced in the morning, so please be careful, especially for those travelling early,' Rasimphi said.
Overnight temperatures will remain low, with chilly mornings expected throughout the week. The freezing conditions seen in other provinces will not extend into Gauteng, but residents should still prepare for cool mornings.
Some light showers are expected over parts of the province, particularly in areas bordering Mpumalanga. Rasimphi said rainfall will not be widespread.
'We are looking at a 30% chance of showers in parts of the province, but much of Gauteng will remain dry,' he explained.
While parts of Limpopo and Mpumalanga are forecast to experience drizzle and fog, Gauteng's conditions will remain relatively stable, with afternoon sunshine breaking through the clouds in some areas.

Warm weather expected across KwaZulu-Natal

KwaZulu-Natal residents can look forward to warm weather on Wednesday, 13 August. Coastal areas like Durban will reach highs of 25°C, while inland regions will stay mild. 'KwaZulu-Natal will experience warmer conditions than much of the country, with cloudy skies and only light winds,' said forecaster Mpho Rasimphi. This week, the province will remain one of the warmest regions in South Africa. Night-time weather lows will stay relatively mild compared to the interior, with Durban at 12°C. 'KwaZulu-Natal's overnight temperatures will be comfortable, especially along the coast, where the sea breeze helps maintain warmth,' Rasimphi explained. Cloud cover will persist into the night, adding to the balmy feel. The coming days will bring weather, sunshine, and clouds, with isolated showers expected over central inland parts. 'We are seeing a chance of showers moving into KwaZulu-Natal on Friday, especially in the afternoon,' Rasimphi said. Despite this, temperatures will remain warm, with highs in the mid-20s for much of the province. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Cool, cloudy day ahead for Gauteng after freezing night

Gauteng faced a biting cold on Tuesday night, with temperatures in Johannesburg and Pretoria dropping to around 9°C. 'We are seeing freezing conditions in parts of the country, and Gauteng has also been affected,' said Mpho Rasimphi, a forecaster. Wednesday's weather will relieve the overnight chill. Pretoria will reach a high of 22°C, while Johannesburg will warm to around 21°C. 'Despite the cold start, daytime conditions will be relatively pleasant under cloudy skies,' Rasimphi noted. The forecaster added that residents in the northern parts of the province, including areas close to Limpopo, could see slightly warmer conditions, but the cloud cover will persist. In the coming days, warmer weather will sweep across Gauteng, with isolated showers possible in the country's central parts. 'We expect Friday to be a warmer day overall, but with a chance of showers moving into some regions,' Rasimphi said. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. #FishEagle: Anglers net surprise catches as sardine run nears end

With just one small net of sardines hauled in at Amanzimtoti on Friday, this year's incredibly successful run has almost wrapped up. More fish were netted this year than expected, while mostly favourable sea conditions contributed to excellent returns. Surf anglers also enjoyed some hectic fishing when the sardines moved inshore, catching trophy fish and a few unexpected species as the winter fishing season kicked off. Some notable catches were reported on the South Coast, where salmon, bronze bream and prized brusher were hooked among the usual shad and garrick. Those fishing off Margate Pier said yellowtail were being caught by anglers targeting shad, while sandbanks along the coast have made conditions difficult. Closer to home last week, anglers faced strong winds and rough seas, which limited beach time. Those who braved the cold found a few shad and garrick at first light in Ballito and at the Tongaat River mouth respectively. Anglers fishing in the afternoons reported that grey sharks have returned in numbers. The rocky outcrops and gullies served up decent returns, including good-sized brusher, large pinkies and plenty of blacktail. The rough water should have been ideal for bronze bream, but very few were caught locally. Offshore anglers were limited by sea conditions, with only three fishable days throughout the week. A few snoek and garrick were caught along the backline, while the inshore reefs produced the usual bottom fish. Looking ahead, more wind is, unfortunately, forecast for this week.
