CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD Director Reveals a Wild Scrapped Scene With Red Hulk — GeekTyrant

Captain America: Brave New World was not a huge hit with fans, but it had a few fun moments we never thoughts we'd see, including Harrison Ford joining the MCU and turning into the raging Red Hulk. But that transformation could have been even wilder if the director had chosen to go with an early idea, based on the comics. During a recent interview with JoBlo Celebrity Access (via /Film), the film's director Julius Onah revealed that at one point in the filmmaking process, there were plans for Red Hulk to have a gun. He explained, "There was a point in time, actually, it didn't make the movie, where Red Hulk, arcing back to publishing, wielded a gun, and it just didn't feel quite right for the actual movie." While this would be comic book accurate, it does sound silly. Anyone can use a gun, but not just anyone, even in the MCU, can turn into a powerful Hulk. It seems like he doesn't need another advantage when he's in that state of being, and it doesn't sound like it would have brought anything to the movie to save it from the negative response. What do you think? Would you have liked to have seen Red Hulk bust out a giant gun?

Thunderbolts* Easter Eggs With the Red Hulk & Marvel References

Marvel's Thunderbolts* has now been released worldwide, and it contains multiple Easter eggs and references to the wider MCU, such as Red Hulk. Accordingly, fans are wondering what references and mentions they may have missed while watching the movie. Directed by Jake Schreier, this film sees various antiheroes team up to face an unimaginable and terrifying threat. Here are all the Easter eggs and Marvel references in Thunderbolts* you might have missed. Be wary of potential spoilers ahead. The following easter eggs and Marvel references in Thunderbolts* include: Red Hulk – In one of Thunderbolts*' earlier scenes, Val (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) mentions Thaddeus Ross' Red Hulk (Harrison Ford) and his actions in Captain America: Brave New World. This happens while she is questioned by an impeachment committee about her involvement in O.X.E Group's Sentry project. Mel's necklace – Mel (Geraldine Viswanathan) was one of the film's most mysterious characters prior to release. She thus became a topic of multiple discussions, including one speculating whether she was the MCU's Melissa Gold/Songbird. Mel does not become Songbird in the film. However, she wears a necklace containing a songbird, subtly nodding to the comic book character. Captain America: The Winter Soldier callback: In the film, Yelena Belova, John Walker, and Ghost try to escape the room Val trapped them in to kill them. During the process, Walker smashes a switch using his shield and says, 'On your left.' Ardent MCU fans will recognize this line from The Winter Soldier, where Steve Rogers says it to Sam Wilson during their first meeting while jogging. The Watchtower: Thunderbolts* finally reveals Val as the Avengers Tower's mysterious buyer, and she has renamed it the Watchtower. This name is also a nod to Sentry's comic book base of operations, which shares the same name. Thor: Tired of her constant orders, Sentry pins Val to the wall. He then recalls Val telling him how he was stronger than the entire Avengers team combined, including one god — an obvious Thor reference. Fantastic Four – Thunderbolts*' post-credits scene sees Yelena and the team witness the arrival of the Fantastic Four's jet in space. Additionally, The Fantastic Four: First Steps' theme can be heard playing in the background.

Harrison Ford Makes Very Blunt Admission About Filming His Latest Marvel Role

Harrison Ford cut right to the chase when he was asked about how he got through certain parts of his recent Marvel shoot. The Star Wars legend can currently be seen in action in the new Captain America movie Brave New World, playing Thaddeus Ross, the fictional US president who was previously portrayed in the MCU by the late William Hurt. His character's most memorable scene sees him turning into the Red Hulk, which was achieved through the use of CGI, with which the Marvel movies have become synonymous. During an interview with MTV earlier this month, Harrison was asked how 'easily' he was able to shut out feeling like an 'idiot' or 'insane human being' while filming the footage required to turn him into the Red Hulk, prompting a rather blunt answer. 'I don't want to break your bubble or anything, but that's what the money is for,' he whispered. 'To silence that part of your brain?' MTV's interviewer replied, to which Harrison said: 'Gone! Gone!' When the reporter quipped that it was 'like magic', Harrison added: 'It's not magic. It's commerce. Which is not to say that I'll take money for anything. I want to make sure that the trip I'm on is one that an audience will follow, and want to follow, and something that they'll want to allow me to be involved in.' Magic? NOT QUITE! 'Honestly, I don't remember [that day on set],' he admitted. 'They said, 'this is the scene in which you turn into the Red Hulk'. I said, 'OK. Where do I go, what do I do?'. And they said, 'you know, you turn into the Red Hulk'. I said, 'yeah, but what do I do?'. 'You turn into the Red Hulk'. 'Oh. OK'. And I turned into the Red Hulk and they said 'OK'. 'Can I do it again?'. 'Oh no, that was fine'. 'So, it was an amusing day at the office,' he concluded. ‘Captain America: Brave New World' Muscling $12M Thursday Night

EXCLUSIVE: Neither Los Angeles rain nor Northeast snow are keeping audiences away from cinemas tonight as Disney/Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World, a continuation of both Disney+ series Falcon and the Winter Soldier and 2008's The Incredible Hulk, is eyeing a $12M Thursday after previews which began at 2PM earlier today. Where does that stack up to other MCU titles? Well, it's higher than 2014's Captain America: Winter Soldier which collected $10.2M in previews on its way to a $95M opening. More from Deadline 'Captain America: Brave New World' Primer: What To Remember Ahead Of The First Marvel Film Of 2025 JioHotstar's Bosses On The Challenges For Their Newly Combined Disney+ Hotstar & JioCinema Streamer: "At Our Scale, We Can't Afford To Fail" Dissent Grows At Disney Over Perceived "Capitulation" To Trump As DEI Initiatives Diminished It's also under the $17.5M previews of the last MCU title over Presidents Day weekend, 2023's Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania which made its way to a $106.1M 3-day and $120.3M 4-day. Brave New World isn't expected to traverse to Quantumania levels with tracking pegging a $80M 3-day and $94M 4-day. Brave New World was always a grounded action film, nothing in the multiverse sense of the word, selling itself entire on Red Hulk (how appropriate for Valentine's Day). Bad news: Rotten Tomatoes critics got antsy while watching the Anthony Mackie movie giving it a 52% critics score. Good news: Audiences tonight are giving it a tolerable 82%. Social media analytics corp RelishMix reports that the social media universe for the Julius Onah directed movie stands at just under 600M, which is an average figure for superhero movies; Brave New World running 21% below genre norms across TikTok, Facebook, X, YouTube and Instagram combined. Ya wanna know what the social media reach was for Deadpool & Wolverine before opening? Try 1.15 billion followers. Ever Thor: Love & Thunder was at a high 963M-plus before that pic projected onto the screen. Mostly all of the cast on this Captain America are social and activated, except for non-social Harrison Ford. Mackie counted 5.4M fans across all platforms before opening, Liv Tyler stood at 7.2M while Giancarlos Esposito has at 4M. As far as the chatter online, RelishMix says it's mixed on Brave New World. There are some fans who are excited to see Mackie picking up the shield from Chris Evans, and who are destined to go because of Red Hulk. But 'negative-leaning chatter on Captain America: Brave New World hears trembles from fans who feel Marvel has lost its way. Comments include, 'I remember a time when I used to get hyped for a Marvel film. I saw this poster (and trailer) and felt nothing.' and 'I want the film to do well, but I can't shake the feeling that this movie is just being sent out there to die. Prove me wrong, Disney.' The jumps in tone are turning some off, sharing, 'Its nuts how this movie is simultaneously playing up the 'grizzled espionage' angle from Winter Soldier, but is also like CLAP FOR RED HULK,' while others are pessimistically curious in the character of Sabra, given the character's ties to Israel in the comics with the current geopolitical landscape in the Middle East.' We'll have more for you in the AM. Disney didn't respond to Deadline's comment on the projections we were hearing tonight. On Friday, Brave New World opens in 4,100 theatres, including 400 IMAX auditoriums, 950 Premium Large Format screens, 2,500+ 3D locations, 325 D-Box/4D motion screens, and 100 ScreenX locations.
