Is There Any Reserve Day For PBKS vs MI IPL 2025 Qualifier 2?

The start of the Indian Premier League's Qualifier 2 between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings on Sunday was delayed due to passing showers. The winner of this contest will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final here on Tuesday. Earlier, Punjab Kings won the toss and invited Mumbai Indians to bat with their bowling lineup getting a much-needed boost in the form of Yuzvendra Chahal 's return. MI handed a debut to England's left-arm pacer Reece Topley. The match was supposed to start at 7:30 PM IST, but the covers were at the time of publishing this copy (9:25 PM IST). The main square was covered. There is no reserve day in place. The cut-off time for a 5-over game is 11:56 PM IST. There are no reserve days and if a match is not possible, Punjab Kings will enter the final on the basis of finishing at a better spot than Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2025 league stage. PBKS were table-toppers while MI were fourth. Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is back for Punjab Kings as skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bowl first against Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2025 Qualifier 2 clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday. The winner of this clash will meet Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final on Tuesday. Chahal last played for PBKS in their league stage clash against Rajasthan Royals on May 18, before a right wrist injury kept him on the sidelines, including in the side's crushing eight-wicket loss to RCB in the Qualifier 1 in New Chandigarh. He now comes into the Qualifier 2 clash in place of left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar. With PBKS bowling first, they have added pacer Vyshak Vijaykumar into the playing eleven in place of Prabhsimran Singh, who will now come in as the impact player during the chase. Iyer stated that the overcast and windy conditions played a part in him electing to bowl first. 'The wickets was also under covers yesterday. It's a fresh day, we've recovered pretty well, rejuvenated and our mindset is to go out there and win. Boys are in high spirits, everyone's thinking positive. The environment in the dressing room is top-notch at the moment, so I can't complain much,' he said. Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya said he also wanted to bowl, while adding that left-arm pacer Reece Topley comes in for Richard Gleeson, who picked a niggle during their 20-run win over Gujarat Titans' in the Eliminator in New Chandigarh. 'Looks like a decent track, just need to bat well, assess the conditions early and I think we'll be okay. It (pitch) has gotten much flatter, the balls have stopped doing as much as it used to do. If you bowl well, fast bowlers tend to get some help.' 'At the same point of time, if you bat well, you can score a lot of runs. There are a lot of areas where we could have got better in the last game. Playing a tight crucial game, one day break, it's tough but we are into a rhythm and we know what we need to execute.' 'We came very early morning after the game, we needed some rest, most of the guys focused on recovery and being fresh for today. The intensity will be very important and we're looking forward to it,' he said. Listen to the latest songs, only on

IPL 2025 Qualifier 2 between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians delayed due to rain. Check out what happens if match is washed out

The Indian Premier League Qualifier 2 between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings was delayed after toss due to a rain at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Thursday. The drizzle started close to the match start before stopping and then starting again. The team which will win the Qualifier 2 will go to the final on Tuesday where Royal Challengers Bengaluru await. Punjab Kings opted to bowl against Mumbai Indians with veteran leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal back in the playing eleven while left-arm seamer Reece Topley replaced injured Richard Gleeson in the Mumbai Indians line-up. 'We are going to bowl first. Slightly overcast and the wicket was under the covers yesterday. Based on these, we are going to bowl first. It's a fresh day, we've recovered pretty well, rejuvenated and our mindset is to go out there and win. Boys are in high spirits, everyone's thinking positive. The environment in the dressing room is top-notch at the moment, so I can't complain much,' PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer said at the toss. 'We also would have bowled first. Looks like a decent track, just need to bat well, assess the conditions early and I think we'll be okay. It (pitch) has gotten much flatter, the balls have stopped doing as much as it used to do. If you bowl well, fast bowlers tend to get some help. At the same point of time, if you bat well, you can score a lot of runs. We came very early morning after the game, we needed some rest, most of the guys focused on recovery and being fresh for today. The intensity will be very important and we're looking forward to it,' MI captain Hardik Pandya said. The temperature in the daytime in Ahmedabad on Sunday is expected to be around 38 degrees Celsius, and in the evening it is expected to be around 28 degrees Celsius. Apart from the temperature, dew plays a big factor at this venue, hence the teams winning the toss might be tempted to bowl first. There's a lot of time before the match gets washed out. The BCCI has increased the extra time to complete matches to 120 minutes from the existing one hour. The step has been taken considering the unpredictable weather. If the match still cannot be completed in the stipulated time, the team which finished higher in the points table will qualify for the final. This means that Punjab hold the advantage over MI due to finishing 2nd as opposed to MI's 4th placed finish.
