Dijon Figures Out Fatherhood on 'BABY'

Summary The samples have cleared, andBABY,Dijon's sophomore studio album (and also the name of his son) is here at last. Materializing a little under four years after its pioneering predecessor,Absolutely, and fresh off the understated musician's most front-facing year yet, having a hand in two of the biggest albums of the year – Bon Iver'sSABLE, fABLEand Justin Bieber'sSWAG –the universally awaited LP is exactly what we've been eyeing from Dijon after his recent solo hiatus of sorts. While lyrically, the 12-trackBABYis primarily a solo endeavor, the project is a homegrown, heartfelt family affair, a musing on Dijon's little familial unit that now includes his young son. SinceAbsolutely's release, Dijon's not-so-quiet influence on the music zeitgeist has only gotten clearer in focus, the refreshingly raw album (and its dining room live performance visual) paving the road for a new era of intimate, improvisational-feeling sonic experimentation. A contemporary blueprint for what it truly means to blend genres (beyond just the buzzword), the still rather under-the-radarAbsolutelyestablished an ether in which Star & The Dream Policeand Matt Champion'sMika's Laundrycould not only exist, but be properly appreciated. Something he seemed to don with pride, the musician's IYKYK label, this might be the project that puts Dijon on the mainstream map. Clinging to his ability to amalgamate deeply introspective lyricism with needle-pushing production tactics, Dijon does what he does best on the new album, equipped with a more honed sound and (just slightly) more polished production. 1. Baby!2. Another Baby!3. HIGHER!4. (Freak It)5. Yamaha6. FIRE!7. (Referee)8. Rewind9. my man10. loyal & marie11. Automatic12. Kindalove Introductory track 'Baby!' (a mastered version of the 'BABY burner' rough cut linked on theBABYalbum countdown) brings us into the new album's world, almost structurally resembling a newborn's first hours, sonically stumbling through different loops and sampling bits of conversations. However, all of Dijon's redirections are highly intentional, studied swerves into terrain that isn't entirely unexplored, but rather unexplored by himas a one of his candid compositional shifts is, in fact, thought through, each choice of experimentation made with utmost care. The sweeping 'Another Baby!' ushers in the next feeling of a childlike contentment through its shimmery synth arrangement, while 'HIGHER' continues to revel in the peaks of Dijon's fatherhood journey, and '(Freak It)' brings in a more sultry undertone by way of hushed vocals. On track five, 'Yamaha,' evocative ofAbsolutely's 'Many Times,' Dijon leans into his layering of loops, instrumentals, and lyrics, creating an immersive, chaotic effect – though, as opposed to on the more freneticAbsolutely, here, the chaos is controlled. It's more focused. Following 'FIRE!' comes the textured '(Referee),' which is reminiscent of a comedown, and, a particular high point of the album, 'Rewind.' A masterclass in meticulous layering, glitchy guitars coalesce atop Dijon's earnest pondering of questions. 'my man' marks one of the longer songs on the album and takes a true tapestry form, a piecing together of repetitive raspy crooning, vast backing melodies, and a spacey outro. In the final stretch, 'loyal & marie' spotlights Dijon's gleaming falsetto, giving way for the sample-led 'Automatic' and true-to-form Dijon love song, 'Kindalove.' It's a perfect ending for a project that, while more patchwork-y in persona, is all connected by one unwavering throughline: unconditional love. StreamBABY– out everywhere now.

Mauritanian Referee Praised For Effective Performance In Inter Milan 2-1 Urawa Red Diamonds Clash – Three Correct Yellow Cards

Mauritanian Referee Praised For Effective Performance In Inter Milan 2-1 Urawa Red Diamonds Clash – Three Correct Yellow Cards Mauritanian referee Dahane Beida has won praise for his effective handling of yesterday's Club World Cup clash between Inter Milan and Urawa Red Diamonds. Today's print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, argue that the referee was fair and kept play moving well. Advertisement Inter Milan defeated Urawa Red Diamonds yesterday. They got their first win at the FIFA Club World Cup in their second group stage match. Inter had to do it hard way. They trailed for the majority of the match, but won right at the end courtesy of a stoppage time winner from substitute Valentin Carboni. This gave Inter something to really build on heading into their final group stage match against River Plate. They will feel confident they can book their place in the knockouts now. (Photo by) Mauritanian referee Dahane Beida had the whistle for yesterday's match. Advertisement And in a tournament where the spotlight is not just on teams from across the globe but also referees, the Gazzetta argued that Beida represented the West African nation well. Beida was hardly strict with the player. He let a number of physical challenges go without blowing for a foul. However, this aided the pace of the game, the Gazzetta argues. Mauritania did not allow players for either team to badger him into giving decisions. And when there was a blatant foul Beida had no trouble recognizing it. There were three yellow cards in the match. None were for Inter players. Veteran Urawa Reds goalkeeper Shusaku Nishikawa received a booking for continued timewasting, and he could have little complaint considering that it was fairly blatant. Meanwhile, two Urawa Reds attacking substitutes also went into the book. Both Takahiro Sekine and Thiago Santana received yellows for fouls on Carlos Augusto.

Sacked referee David Coote charged by FA over Jurgen Klopp comments

Former Premier League referee David Coote has been hit with a charge by the Football Association concerning comments he made about ex- Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. The official was sacked last December by Professional Game Match Officials Ltd (PGMOL) following a viral video that circulated online showing him to have made derogatory remarks about the German from July 2020. One of the comments concerned Klopp's nationality, which has led the FA to claim the remark constituted an alleged 'aggravated breach' under its rules. The FA said Coote would face no further action in regard to separate allegations of gambling misconduct, which he had strenuously denied. The FA said those allegations had been fully investigated.

David Coote hit with two FA charges for Jurgen Klopp rant as shamed referee is accused of aggravated breach of rules

DAVID COOTE has been hit with two FA charges for his rant about Jurgen Klopp. The shamed referee has been accused of an aggravated breach of FA rules following an infamous video showing him hitting out at the ex-Liverpool manager. 1 In the viral video, he referred to Liverpool as "s***" and extraordinarily dropped the C-bomb to describe ex-Reds boss Klopp. Coote said: "Liverpool were s*** . Klopp is an absolute c***. "Aside from having a right pop at me when I was refereeing them against Burnley in lockdown, he accused me of lying and then had a right f***ing pop of me. "I have no interest in speaking to someone who is f***ing arrogant. So I do my best not to speak to him. James Milner is all right, I get on with him. "You can see me there with a 'mask' on. But, my god, German c***, f*** me." THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY..
