Mansfield sign midfielder Hendry from Tranmere
Mansfield Town have signed Regan Hendry on a two-year deal after the midfielder ended discussions about staying with League Two side Tranmere Rovers. The 27-year-old Scot was among eight players in talks with Rovers about new deals earlier this month, but he has opted to move up to League One with the Stags. Hendry, who came through Celtic's youth teams before going on to start his senior career with Raith Rovers, last featured in England's third tier with Forest Green Rovers in 2023. And it was at Mansfield on the final day of the 2021-22 season that Hendry helped Forest Green clinch the League Two title. He moved to Tranmere on loan by the middle of the following season, before making his stay at Prenton Park permanent in the summer of 2023. Stags boss Nigel Clough said the central midfield is a player that the club has "admired for some time". "He's an all-round midfield player who can play two or three different roles and will complement the midfielders who we already have in the squad," Clough told the club website.
