Mansfield sign midfielder Hendry from Tranmere
Mansfield Town have signed Regan Hendry on a two-year deal after the midfielder ended discussions about staying with League Two side Tranmere Rovers.
The 27-year-old Scot was among eight players in talks with Rovers about new deals earlier this month, but he has opted to move up to League One with the Stags.

Hendry, who came through Celtic's youth teams before going on to start his senior career with Raith Rovers, last featured in England's third tier with Forest Green Rovers in 2023.
And it was at Mansfield on the final day of the 2021-22 season that Hendry helped Forest Green clinch the League Two title.
He moved to Tranmere on loan by the middle of the following season, before making his stay at Prenton Park permanent in the summer of 2023.
Stags boss Nigel Clough said the central midfield is a player that the club has "admired for some time".
"He's an all-round midfield player who can play two or three different roles and will complement the midfielders who we already have in the squad," Clough told the club website.

'Final defeat feels raw'
Southend United will reflect with pride on their journey to the National League's promotion final but it may take some time, according to boss Kevin Maher. The Shrimpers were within 29 minutes of a return to the EFL before going down 3-2 in extra time to Oldham Athletic at Wembley Stadium. Advertisement The Essex side have endured a troubled recent history, including a number of winding-up petitions, transfer embargoes, relegation to non-league football, and continued ownership issues before being taken over last July. "What we've all been through at this club, you shouldn't have to go through those sorts of things," Maher told BBC Sport. "When we reflect we should be proud as a football club to see how far we've come in such a short period of time - but it's pretty raw because as a professional you want to win." Southend only secured their play-off place on the final day of the regular season before coming through extra time to beat Rochdale 4-3 in their play-off eliminator, and then squeezing past Forest Green Rovers on penalties after a 2-2 draw in the semi-finals. Advertisement They led twice in the Wembley showpiece in front of a record crowd of 52,115 with an own goal from Oldham's Manny Monthe and then Leon Chambers-Parillon's header in the first minute of extra time. But, after Joe Garner had levelled from the penalty spot early in the second half, James Norwood and Kian Harratt scored in the space of two minutes in extra time to send Oldham back to the EFL after a three-year absence. "There were so many momentum shifts in the game," Maher, the former Southend midfielder, said. "At 2-1 I thought we might go and get the third, and if you do that it probably puts it to the bed." Advertisement Maher congratulated Oldham in his post-match press conference and added his voice to the calls for a third promotion spot from the National League. "There's a bottleneck at this level, and this game tells you everything about the standard and quality in the league. "In the National league you've got to be better than 22 teams and only the top one goes up automatically, while in League Two you've only got to be better than 20 sides – it should be three up, of course it should. "Whether it gets voted in or not I don't know, people say it's like turkeys voting for Christmas."

McGoldrick turns down Notts County deal
David McGoldrick scored 29 league goals in 73 appearances in his second spell at Meadow Lane [Rex Features] David McGoldrick has rejected the offer of a new contract at Notts County, the club have confirmed. The 37-year-old former Republic of Ireland international forward, who returned to his boyhood club in 2023, scored 17 goals in 35 appearances this season as the Magpies reached the League Two play-offs. Advertisement McGoldrick has scored 180 goals in a career spanning more than 600 appearances across more than 20 seasons and counts Southampton, Nottingham Forest, Coventry City, Ipswich Town, Sheffield United and Derby County among his former clubs. His final appearance for County came in the play-off semi-final first-leg defeat against Wimbledon at Meadow Lane, where he limped off late on with an injury that ruled him out of the return leg, which the Dons also won 1-0. A statement from the Magpies board of directors read: "While we're of course disappointed to be losing a player of David's quality and character, he leaves having given us many fantastic memories over the last two years. "Unfortunately we have been unable to reach an agreement on this occasion, but everyone at Meadow Lane thanks David wholeheartedly for his charismatic performances, wonderful goals, leadership and dedication. Advertisement "It was special to see him realise his dream of returning to Meadow Lane and we wish him all the best in the next chapter of his brilliant career." McGoldrick has been strongly linked with a move to County's League Two rivals MK Dons who are managed by his former Rams boss Paul Warne and this week completed the signing of hMcGoldrick's former team-mate Nathaniel Mendez-Laing.

Walsall midfielder McEntee joins Hearts
Oisin McEntee scored six goals during his three-year stay with Walsall [Rex Features] Walsall defensive midfielder Oisin McEntee has agreed to join Scottish Premiership side Hearts on a three-year deal. Republic of Ireland under-21 international McEntee, 24, has made 79 appearances for the Saddlers across three seasons since joining from Newcastle United in 2022. Advertisement He was part of a Walsall side that led League Two for much of the past season but dropped off in the run-in and ended up losing the play-off final to AFC Wimbledon. McEntee, who played in the Scottish Championship with Morton in 2021-22 during a loan spell from Newcastle, will join the Tynecastle side on a free transfer when his Walsall deal expires this summer. "It became clear in our conversations Oisin is hungry, he wants to learn and improve, and be part of what we're trying to do here at Hearts," said new Hearts boss Derek McInnes. "He's played in defence and midfield, so to have options around his positioning is a big plus. Oisin's gained a lot of experience down south and he has knowledge of Scottish football too, which is a bonus." Advertisement McEntee is McInnes' third signing following the acquisition of Belgian forward Elton Kabangu and Greek winger Alexandros Kyziridis. Saddlers release four, in talks with nine McEntee is among a number of out-of-contract players at Walsall, with the club in talks with nine others to extend their stays after the disappointing end to their season.
