Adapted from the book by Charlie Huston, 'Burned-out Hank Thompson (Butler), once a hotshot high school baseball prospect, turned unlucky alcoholic, going-nowhere bartender mistakenly gets caught up in a bloody treasure hunt through New York City. 'It turns out that the cat Hank's neighbor left in his care is sitting on a secret. The series is adapted from the 1975 novel Forever by Judy Blume. The story follows the early romance of two teenagers and explores their emotional tells the story of Katherine and Michael. They meet at a New Year's Eve party. They start a romantic relationship and grow close. Katherine believes it is real love. She gives herself to Michael, thinking the bond will last. But during the summer, they are separated. Katherine meets another boy. She feels new emotions and starts to question her love for Michael. The story explores what love means to young Simone plays the female lead, Keisha Clark. Michael Cooper Jr. plays Justin Edwards, the male lead. Karen Pittman plays Justin's mother, Dawn. Wood Harris plays his father, Eric. Adriyan Rae plays Brittany, Keisha's cousin. The cast also includes Xosha Roquemore, Emyri Crutchfield, Marvin L. Winans III, Paigion Walker and Barry Shabaka Brock Akil is the showrunner and executive producer. Her company, story27, is producing the series. This is her first scripted show for Netflix under a deal signed in 2020. She previously worked on shows like Girlfriends and Being Mary Jane. Author Judy Blume also serves as an executive producer.
