UFC's Dana White explains why he wants 'nothing to do with politics,' cites media's treatment of Trump
UFC president Dana White made clear in a recent podcast interview he has no aspirations of becoming a political figure or running for president in the future. White, who has very close ties with President Donald Trump, explained on "What's Your Story? With Steph McMahon" why he has no plans to enter that arena. He cited the media's treatment of Trump when he decided to step out of the celebrity sphere into the political game. "The biggest thing for me with Trump is it's fascinating how this guy who's incredibly famous and looked at as this businessman, had his show for all those years, beloved by everybody — on both sides — and once he gets into politics, they figure out how to make half the country hate him," White said. "They put out this narrative about him that people actually believe that this guy is a racist piece of s--- fascist, you know, scumbag, which is the furthest thing from the truth. "So, yeah, I want nothing to do with politics." White has been by Trump's side since he ran for president in 2015. He spoke at several Republican National Conventions in support of Trump and has hosted the president numerous times at UFC events. The most recent one being UFC 314 where the president received a raucous ovation. "There's no way in hell," White said of any potential presidential run or getting into politics. "I have a great life. I love what I do. I love the people I do it with. I get up every day and I can't wait to get to work. I'm there early. I'm there late. And politics just isn't for me." Conservative political activist Charlie Kirk to speak at OSU: What to know
Charlie Kirk, political activist and founder of Turning Point USA, is bringing his tour to Oklahoma State University's campus next week. The event is part of Kirk's 'The American Comeback' tour. All events on the tour are free to guests. It will be hosted at the International Mall lawn building on campus. Kirk is most known for starting Turning Point USA, a non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging people to 'rise up against the radical left" and promote freedom, free markets and limited government, as according to the website. The college branch of the organization, Turning Point USA Students, has over 3,000 high school and college chapters. Charlie Kirk is the founder and president of Turning Point USA. He was named Forbes 30 under 30 in 2018 and spoke at the 2016, 2020 and 2024 Republican National Conventions. He has had numerous media interviews and appearances, including on Fox News, The Washington Times, and The Washington Post. As a published author, he has penned a New York Times best-seller, 'The MAGA Doctrine: The Only Ideas that Will Win the Future.' Kirk also has a substantial social media following on many platforms, including YouTube, with almost 3.1 million subscribers. Most recently, Kirk sat down for an interview with California Governor Gavin Newsom. In September, Kirk also appeared in a viral YouTube video on Jubilee that garnered 27.5 million views, where he debated with 25 liberal college students. Kirk's 'The American Comeback' tour will take him to various college campuses this spring. Future campuses include the University of South Carolina and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He is speaking on Oklahoma State University's campus at noon on April 1 on the International Mall lawn. To register and secure free tickets in advance, click here. At other stops on Kirk's tour, some of those in attendance came to hear Kirk speak and debate, while others opted to protest his presence on the campus. Reporters with the Tallahassee Democrat, a member of the USA Today network, reported that at Florida State University in February, many could not hear Kirk over the protestors at the event. A packed-out University of Tennessee event brought together students who felt ostracized by their Republican beliefs, while others joined in opposition to Kirk's platform. While the event did not bring out protests, the crowd was divided. Kirk debated with the crowd on topics ranging from diversity, equity and inclusion at the school to homelessness throughout Knoxville.
