10 of London's best restaurants serving dinner with a view

The rather clever trick at 22 Bishopsgate, in which both Lucky Cat and Restaurant Gordon Ramsay High sit, is that from their windows the Shard across the river looks rather puny, though it is in fact taller. London's undulations are in its favour. Lucky Cat and RGR share the 60th floor and from both the views are beyond spectacular — perhaps the finest of any in the capital. There is not a London icon that cannot be seen: it is the sort of scope that might open a movie. Food is markedly different between the two. At the 14-seater RGR High, it is extraordinarily detailed French-leaning fine dining, at a steep price; it is, for most of us, an occasion restaurant, perhaps a one-off. Lucky Cat is somewhere one could be a regular: here there is what the group calls 'Asian-inspired' food, drawing mostly on Japan and Korea. Expect a fine array of sushi and sashimi, dumplings and bao, and other bits like simply-grilled fish. Three tasting menus are offered for the inquisitive or indecisive, running from £80 to £130. Cocktails are a little pricey, but there's wine from a reasonable £9.50 a glass.

Gordon Ramsay reveals he's only dined at his restaurants TWICE as he finds them 'too posh' and reveals the annoying kitchen habit that leaves wife Tana furious

Gordon Ramsay has revealed he's only dined at his restaurants twice as he finds them 'too posh' and 'intimidating'. The renowned chef, 58, has a total of 88 restaurants worldwide and currently holds 8 Michelin stars. He has been awarded 17 stars overall. While some would think Gordon would constantly be dining at his enterprise, he in fact finds them too fancy and 'not his style'. Speaking on The Savoy Originals' podcast, he said: 'There's a very fine line, running it or indulging in it. 'I've only had dinner at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in 25 years twice. 'Once was for Megan's birthday, and the second time was with Bradley Cooper when we were together for the film Burnt. 'It's not my style. It's too posh for me. It sounds weird, right? You built the f*****g place, and it's like, too posh for you. I can't sit there with that level of attention. 'It's bloody intimidating and it's a very special moment for the guests, not for me, because I'm a giver — I'm not a receiver.' However, at home Gordon does struggle with cooking so called 'normal' dinners for his family, which often leaves his wife Tana, 50, furious. Gordon leaves Tana less impressed when he naturally finds himself cooking Michelin-starred dinners for his six-year-old son Oscar. The couple are parents to Megan, 26, twins Holly and Jack, 25, Tilly, 23, Oscar and Jesse James, 17 months. He explained: 'I will do sausage and mash with baked beans and make it look like a three-star Michelin sausage, mash and baked beans. 'And I'll put the beans on one at a time, and I'll finish them, making mashed potatoes like [French chef] Robuchon did, with 70 per cent butter. 'And then Tana will kick me up the a*** and say, 'What are you doing? Our son is five years of age and you're f****** around with these sausages. Stop it.' 'So, yeah, I get a little bit carried away.' In February, Gordon expanded his culinary empire in the form of the 120-seat Lucky Cat on level 60 at 22 Bishopsgate, the tallest building in the City of London. Additionally, he has also launched Restaurant Gordon Ramsay High, the Gordon Ramsay Academy, and Lucky Cat Bar in the building. Guests can experience the exclusive Restaurant Gordon Ramsay High, a 12-seat chef's table experience like no other as well as Asian-inspired Lucky Cat. Lucky Cat Bar, a new world-class bar space is perfect for cocktails with breathtaking views of the capital. Additionally, food enthusiasts of all levels can hone their skills at the Gordon Ramsay Academy powered by HexClad, where guests can learn the sharpest kitchen techniques.
