A previously unreleased alternate version of 'Found a Job' from the set is out now. 'To our great relief, [Eno] realized we were a tight live band at this point, so it made sense to record us all playing together in the studio,' frontman David Byrne recalls. 'We weren't all that comfortable in a recording studio, so this arrangement made us comfortable and put us at ease.' The album's atypical biggest hit, a cover of Al Green's 'Take Me to the River,' almost didn't make it to tape in the version fans came to love. 'We were used to playing the song at a pretty fast tempo like Al Green's original, but we gave it a go [in a slower speed],' recalls drummer Chris Frantz. 'After several takes, we got what [Eno] was looking for, and everyone loved his treatment of the snare drum. This song became our first radio hit.' More Songs About Building and Food also spawned favorites such as 'Artists Only' and 'Stay Hungry' and is well-known for its Polaroid mosaic cover photo. 'David took the pictures of Chris, Jerry [Harrison] and me, while I took the pictures of David,' says bassist Tina Weymouth. 'We used a close-up attachment and a red cloth for the backdrop. It was shot on the roof above Chris's and my Long Island City loft. I still have that camera!' Further surprises are planned this year to celebrate the 50th anniversary milestone. Byrne also appears to have his first post-American Utopia album percolating, although details have yet to be announced. New Richard Pryor box set revives the comedy giant's classic albums
Stand-up legend Richard Pryor will always be considered a 1-of-1 talent in the world of comedy. As brilliant as he was blunt, his immortal jokes live on in an archive of comedy albums throughout his career. On Thursday, a handful of classics from the height of his fame are being repackaged by Rhino Records into a massive box set befitting one of the most influential comics to ever hold a microphone. 'I Hope I'm Funny: The Warner Albums (1974-1983),' showcases Pryor's unparalleled genius on his classic records, including 'That N—s Crazy,' '…Is It Something I Said?,' 'Bicentennial N—,' 'Wanted/Richard Pryor Live in Concert' (a double LP), 'Live on the Sunset Strip,' and 'Here and Now.' Scott Saul, who authored the 2014 book 'Becoming Richard Pryor,' wrote the liner notes of the box set. Winning five Grammys and an Emmy during his lifetime as a comedian and actor, Pryor's body of work was a master class of stand-up and acting that pushed the boundaries of discussion on race, class, drug addiction and sociopolitical commentary. 'What he was able to do with his body, with his mentality, was incredible,' the late comedian and civil rights activist Dick Gregory told The Times. He recalled getting to know Pryor in the late 1960s in New York. 'He could just walk across that stage while he was getting ready to transition — the movements of his body, people would just laugh.' Despite his stratospheric success, there was also much tragedy in Pryor's history, including self-inflicted burns while freebasing cocaine (1980), a heart attack at age 36 and hard drug and alcohol abuse until getting sober in the '90s. Miraculously, he continued on with comedy even after being diagnosed in 1986 with multiple sclerosis, which resulted in a loss of his trademark physical presence on stage. In 2005, Pryor died of a heart attack at age 65. Through this classic set of albums, the spark and soul of Pryor's comedy continues to reign supreme. 'The Age of Pryor has never ended,' Saul writes in the liner notes of the box set. 'Across the six albums collected here, Pryor blew open what a comedian could do onstage, and it's the rare comedian who is not somehow in his debt.'

Fleetwood Mac Charts A Brand New Album — But Fans Will Know The Music Well
Fleetwood Mac's box set 1975–1987 debuts on the Official Albums Sales chart, earning the legendary ... More band another big win. NEW YORK, NY - JANUARY 26: (L-R) Honorees Stevie Nicks, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac seen onstage during MusiCares Person of the Year honoring Fleetwood Mac at Radio City Music Hall on January 26, 2018 in New York City. (Photo by) Fleetwood Mac hasn't released any brand new music in years, but the group has doled out plenty of special projects. The group's catalog remains massively popular, and from time to time, the act earns a new win on the charts with various drops, from re-releases to deluxe editions, and even live recordings. In the United Kingdom, Fleetwood Mac returns to a tally the rockers know well with a newly-issued collection — and even decades after some of these albums first arrived, fans are still eager to get their hands on the music. The band's latest collection, 1975-1987, is a box set of some of its most successful albums. The effort opens this week at No. 87 on the Official Albums Sales chart in the U.K., which ranks the bestselling titles of the week across all formats and genres. It's a quiet – but still meaningful – debut for the group. With 1975-1987, Fleetwood Mac claims its twenty-second title to appear on the Official Albums Sales chart, and this new entry follows two others that also made an impact not long ago. In 2024 alone, the band added a pair of new wins to its chart history in the U.K., as Best of 1969-1974 and Mirage Tour '82 opened on that tally just months ago. Those two releases peaked at Nos. 57 and 24, respectively, on the sales list. The 1975-1987 box set is a sleek, straightforward reissue of five already-iconic albums Fleetwood Mac released during those years, packaged together into a collectible must-have. The project, distributed by Rhino Records, dropped on March 28 and comes in a six-LP set pressed on crystal-clear vinyl. For fans who prefer CDs, the same music is available as a five-disc offering. Inside, listeners will find Fleetwood Mac (also known as The White Album by fans), Rumours, Tusk, Mirage, and Tango in the Night. Every one of these titles was a major success upon release, and they've been reissued several times over the years. Now, they're together in one grouping. 1975-1987 isn't the only Fleetwood Mac release that appears on the charts in the U.K. this week, but it is the only one that shows up on just one ranking. A total of four albums by the band are currently performing well enough to find space on at least one list. 50 Years – Don't Stop and Greatest Hits are both present on two separate charts, with the latter returning to both tallies simultaneously. Meanwhile, Rumours remains the band's top-performing title. That set appears on five different charts in the U.K. this frame, and it manages to place inside the top 40 on all but one of them.

Black Sabbath's Classic Album Surges 450% In Sales
Black Sabbath's Paranoid returns to three Billboard charts after a 453% sales spike, thanks to a new ... More limited-edition vinyl reissue from Rhino Records. UNSPECIFIED - CIRCA 1970: Photo of Black Sabbath Photo by MichaelBlack Sabbath may be heading toward the end of its career, but fans are far from finished with the group's music. As frontman Ozzy Osbourne moves closer to retirement – at least when it comes to playing live – and the legendary rock band prepares for what appears to be its final live performance this summer, longtime listeners are snapping up copies of the group's iconic album. While the upcoming concert might be stirring up excitement, it's not the only reason the act is back in a big way. This week, Paranoid makes an impressive return to several rankings in America. The collection sold just over 3,800 copies during the latest tracking period, according to data provided by Luminate, the company that powers the charts for Billboard. That figure is notable for any catalog title – especially one that's been available for decades – but in this case, the jump in purchases is especially striking. Last week, Paranoid sold fewer than 700 copies in the U.S. alone. That means that this time around, sales of the full-length soared by a staggering 453%. The sudden rise in sales is largely tied to a recent re-release of the set. Rhino Records issued a new edition of Paranoid on black vinyl, with the run limited to just 5,000 copies. Each copy was individually numbered, which makes it highly collectible. Thanks to that large uptick in pure purchases, Paranoid reappears on three major U.S. rankings this frame. It nearly breaks into the top 10 on the Vinyl Albums chart, settling at No. 11. It also finds space on the Top Hard Rock Albums list, landing at No. 17. Perhaps even more impressively, the title makes a comeback on the all-genre Top Album Sales chart, where it hits No. 25. Released in 1970, Paranoid helped define the sound of heavy metal – then a new style – and established Black Sabbath as one of the most influential rock bands of all time. The project includes some of the group's most well-known hits, such as 'War Pigs,' 'Iron Man,' and the title track 'Paranoid.' The LP became a commercial juggernaut, reaching No. 1 in the U.K. and breaking into the top 20 in the U.S. At the time, that was a huge deal for the harder side of rock and roll.
