‘It stings and makes me bitter' – League One chairman gutted after losing star man to Bundesliga on free transfer
PETERBOROUGH chairman Darragh MacAnthony admitted he is feeling "bitter" after one of his star players left the club. Ricky Jade-Jones has departed Posh with his contract expiring at the end of the month. 2 2 He has signed for Bundesliga side St. Pauli in what is a big blow for the League One side. Jade-Jones has been at Peterborough since the age of nine and played 190 games after graduating the academy. As a result, Posh would have been guaranteed a hefty fee by way of compensation if the striker had signed for another English club. His move to Germany means Peterborough will only be granted a small training compensation fee. MacAnthony shared his thoughts about Jade-Jones' move on X. He wrote: 'He turned down four brilliant Championship clubs to do this move which has cost his home town club a lot of money. "Not going to lie, it stings and makes me bitter for the moment as the kid has been with us so many years and I couldn't have been more supportive of him but we move on and don't look back. "This is football and it can kick you in the nuts at times.' Jade-Jones scored 18 goals in all competitions last season including 11 in League One. He is now set to play in the top tier for the first time after St. Pauli finished 14th in the Bundesliga following promotion in 2024.

Posh striker Jones joins German side St Pauli

Cardiff City: January target Ricky-Jade Jones available this summer
Peterborough United have announced that Ricky-Jade Jones will leave the club this summer having been a Cardiff City transfer target in the last transfer window. Jones, 22, scored 18 goals in 2024-25 as Posh finished 18th in League One and won the EFL Trophy, but will leave London Road when his contract expires next month. In January, then Cardiff boss Omer Riza said pacy forward Jones was on the Bluebirds' list of transfer targets and that discussions had taken place over a potential deal. Much has changed since then of course, with Riza gone and Cardiff preparing to play in the third tier alongside Peterborough next season. If the Welsh club do their revive their interest in Peterborough youth product Jones, they would have to pay compensation despite his contract situation because of the player's age.

Jed Steer: Peterborough cancel goalkeeper's contract for personal reasons
Peterborough United have cancelled the contract of goalkeeper Jed Steer at his request. The former Aston Villa keeper had another 12 months left on the deal he signed last summer but wants to leave for "personal reasons". He saved two penalties against Wrexham to help Posh reach this season's EFL Trophy final at Wembley, and kept a clean sheet when they beat Birmingham City in the final to make it back-to-back wins in the competition. A new contract has been offered to defender Tayo Edun, who joined them in January after leaving Charlton Athletic and scored twice in 17 appearances. But goalkeeper Nicholas Bilopkapic has been made available for transfer, along with former Colchester striker Bradley Ihinovien, full-back Jack Sparkes and striker Jacob Wakeling. The club have confirmed that highly-rated winger Kwame Poku, forward Ricky-Jade Jones and midfielder Hector Kyprianou, who scored the second goal in the 2-0 win over Birmingham, will all leave the club when their contracts expire. Posh will be entitled to tribunal compensation for Poku and Jones, who both came through their academy. Meanwhile, winger David Ajiboye and striker Kabongo Tshimanga have both been released, having ended the season on loan at Newport County and Swindon Town.
