In India, Qualcomm has maintained a presence for more than a decade, with engineering teams operating out of Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, and Gurgaon. These teams support development across a range of platforms from telematics and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) to two-wheeler connectivity and in-car infotainment. Connected Cars , Smarter Bikes: How India's Auto Future Is Shaping Up India's auto sector is quickly transitioning into a connected, digitally immersive space—both on four wheels and two. At its Snapdragon for India: Auto Day event, Qualcomm Technologies spotlighted recent collaborations with major Indian manufacturers aimed at accelerating in-vehicle innovation through its Snapdragon Cockpit and Auto Connectivity platforms. Key partnerships included work with Maruti Suzuki on connected car technologies, Mahindra on digital cockpit integrations, and Spark Minda for enhanced dashboard experiences. These collaborations reflect a broader shift in India's automotive industry, where digital interfaces and seamless connectivity are becoming standard, not optional. Two-Wheelers Get Smarter Too It's not just cars—India's two-wheeler segment is seeing a parallel transformation. Qualcomm's Snapdragon Digital Chassis is now powering next-gen solutions in partnerships with companies like Hero MotoCorp , Ultraviolette, Royal Enfield, and Pricol . From real-time telematics to intelligent dashboards, the goal is to deliver safer and more connected rides, even on two wheels. Tech Meets Music: Automotive Experiment In a more unexpected turn, artist and tech entrepreneur joined Qualcomm executives on stage to showcase FYI RAiDiO and Melodic Drive—experimental music features that respond to a car's motion and driver behavior. Integrated into Mahindra's BE 6 and XUV 9e EVs, these platforms use the Snapdragon Digital Chassis to turn driver actions—like braking and steering—into dynamic music inputs, effectively turning the car into a musical instrument. Safety and Smart Driving in Focus Among the technology demonstrations was the first Indian showcase of Snapdragon Ride, Qualcomm's advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS). The company also highlighted collaborations with a global network of automotive players including Bosch , Valeo, ZF, Visteon, and Tata Elxsi—all working toward scalable solutions tailored to India's complex driving conditions. Building a Connected Mobility Ecosystem As India aims to lead in connected mobility, Qualcomm's role appears to be focused on integrating hardware, software, and in-vehicle services into a single ecosystem. With long-standing local engineering operations and growing collaboration across the auto value chain, the company is positioning itself as a key player in shaping how India moves—both today and in the future.
