RIVERDALE, Utah () — The man accused of at an apartment complex in Riverdale has been charged with murder. He had a criminal history of threatening and assaulting women with knives. Scott Thomas Myers, 39, was charged with first-degree murder, aggravated assault, possession or use of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person, possession or use of a controlled substance, failure to stop at the command of a law enforcement officer, and interference with an arresting officer. PREVIOUS COVERAGE: 1 dead, 1 in custody after stabbing at Riverdale apartment complex On May 15, the Riverdale Police Department responded to a stabbing at the Greenhill Apartments in Riverdale, according to charging documents. Officers were told that Myers had stabbed a female victim and was locked inside an apartment. A man who was not Myers was also seen leaving the apartment and returning with a bat. Due to concerns that the victim was inside with Myers, officers forced entry into the apartment. They discovered the female victim on the floor with 'several stab/laceration wounds to her torso/chest area.' A 'large knife' with blood on it was near her body. Documents say Myers was not inside the apartment, and officers saw a rear window open, suggesting he had likely fled. An officer located Myers' ID inside the apartment and told all local agencies to be on the lookout for a suspect matching his name and description. Morgan County Sheriff's Office and the Roy City Police Department were able to locate Myers on the viaduct near 600 West Riverdale Road, according to documents. Myers resisted arrest and tried to flee from officers, which led to police using a taser. He also had dried blood on his right hand and lacerations to his wrist and neck. Myers was transported to Ogden Regional Medical Center for an evaluation, then taken to the police station for an interview. Emergency medical responders advised police that Myers had admitted to using methamphetamine and fentanyl. The other male who had been seen at the apartment with a bat spoke with police. He stated that he and the victim traveled to Myers' apartment in Riverdale together. The male told police he was playing a game when he heard a commotion and saw Myers on top of the female victim with a knife, stabbing her. According to police, the man 'yelled at Scott and advanced on him to physically intervene.' This led to Myers trying to harm the man with the knife. The man left the apartment to get a baseball bat from his vehicle and returned to the apartment to see Myers close and lock the door before he could get back in. The male told police he tried to force his way in, but was unsuccessful. Officers served a search warrant on Myers' person and located what they believe to be fentanyl. A criminal history check revealed that he had previous aggravated assault charges filed against him. Death row inmate to be tried again 40 years after Provo woman's death On Oct. 18, 2014, the Clinton Police Department arrested Myers for assaulting a female victim with a knife. He was charged with aggravated assault, violation of a protective order, and unlawful detention. Myers would plead guilty to aggravated assault, and the other two charges were dismissed with prejudice. He was sentenced to 120 days in the Davis County Jail and three years of probation on May 4, 2015. On Dec. 17, 2014, Myers was charged with aggravated assault and domestic violence in the presence of a child for an offense committed on Sep. 8, 2014. The Clinton City Police Department said he had a disagreement with a family member and threatened her with a knife. West Valley man who filmed 2017 assault of 14-year-old girl sentenced to prison Similarly to his previous case, Myers pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, and the charge of domestic violence in the presence of a child was dismissed without prejudice. He was sentenced to 120 days in the Davis County Jail and three years of probation on May 8, 2015. In November 2022, Myers was charged with third-degree felony driving under the influence due to having two or more priors in the past ten years. He was also charged with failure to respond to an officer's signal to stop, reckless driving, driving without an interlock system, and driving on a suspended or revoked license. Myers pleaded guilty to DUI, failure to respond, and reckless driving. The other charges were dismissed with prejudice. He was sentenced to two indeterminate terms not to exceed five years at the Utah State Prison. In March 2023, Myers was charged with another DUI case. He pleaded guilty to driving under the influence, and charges of driving without an interlock system, driving on a suspended or revoked license, and use or possession of drug paraphernalia were dismissed with prejudice. This was set to run concurrently with his previous prison sentence, meaning they could be served simultaneously. Myers would be released from the Utah State Correctional Facility on parole in August 2024. Since then, no criminal charges have been filed until the murder charge today. Currently, Myers is being held without bail at the Weber County Jail. Officials responded to the Greenhill Apartments around 2:30 p.m., after which a witness reported that a man inside the apartment had stabbed a woman. Officers forced their way into the apartment after learning that the door was locked. 'Inside, they discovered a female victim who appeared to have sustained multiple stab wounds,' the Riverdale Police Department said. 'Officers learned that the suspect had fled the apartment through a window.' The victim was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts. The victim has not yet been identified by authorities. Multiple agencies from Weber and Morgan counties responded to assist in the search for the suspect. Riverdale PD said the suspect was located on foot near 600 West Riverdale Road and taken into custody. As of Thursday night, police were still at the scene to process evidence and interview witnesses. The investigation is ongoing and the suspect is being questioned by authorities. RIVERDALE, Ill. – Two people wanted in connection with an officer-involved shooting in Chicago are in custody after leading police officers on a high-speed chase Monday afternoon through the south suburbs. The Riverdale Police Department said officers spotted a vehicle wanted in connection with an 'officer-involved shooting of some sort' in Chicago. Officers pursued the vehicle through Chicago and back down I-94 into Glenwood. White SUV involved in two crashes minutes before deadly crash in La Grange, police say SkyCam 9 flew over the chase and saw both suspects get out of the vehicle and run away. SkyCam 9 then saw one of the suspects being taken into custody. A short time later, police confirmed the second suspect who ran from the vehicle was in custody. Police said two guns, believed to be fully automatic, were recovered. According to Riverdale police, both suspects are currently at the Riverdale Police Department on a multitude of charges. RIVERDALE, Utah () — An elderly man was found dead on Monday, several hours after he was reported missing and a Silver Alert was issued for him. Edward Bovero, 86, was found 'deceased submerged in the Weber River' on Monday afternoon. While the cause of his death is still under investigation, the said foul play is not suspected at this time. Bovero was located after an hours-long search. Riverdale police and the searched in the area around Riverdale Parkway and the Weber River after the Silver Alert was first issued. On Monday, March 31, a Silver Alert was issued for Bovero around 12:45 p.m. The alert said Bovero was last seen leaving his home in Riverdale on foot around 5 a.m. that morning. According to the alert, his last contact with family members was on March 30, and it was unknown where he may have been heading. According to police, relatives said they were concerned for Brovero's safety because of the weather and other factors, including his age and physical state. 'Riverdale Police Department expresses our deepest condolences to the family,' police said in an updated press release Monday.
