Concrete bison art offers comfort to Manitoba youth affected by abuse
More than two dozen concrete bison, painted by artists, are rumbling down Roblin Boulevard in Winnipeg. The public art pieces head toward the Toba Centre for Children and Youth, and are designed to offer support and comfort to young people who are affected by abuse.

New art installation sees bison rumbling down Roblin
The art installation 'Bison on the Boulevard' located on May 28, 2025. (Jamie Dowsett/CTV News) A herd of colourful bison is rumbling down Roblin Boulevard as part of a new art installation in support of a local charity that helps protect children from abuse. The installation, titled 'Bison on the Boulevard,' includes concrete bison sized eight feet by five feet. The art pieces have been painted by local artists and feature images of flowers, wildlife, and nature scenery. 'Bison on the Boulevard is more than public art. It's a visible and creative call to action,' said Coun. Evan Duncan at an event on Wednesday to unveil the installation. (It's) a beacon of hope for children and families impacted by abuse and a symbol of resilience and community support.' (Jamie Dowsett/CTV News Winnipeg) 'Bison on the Boulevard' was created in support of Toba Centre for Children and Youth—an organization that provides a space for children and families who've been impacted by abuse to find comfort, healing and resources. 'The Toba Centre's thoughtful care and incredible wraparound supports make them a leader in our province when it comes to caring for our young Manitobans,' said MLA for Tuxedo Carla Compton. 'Toba Centre is a place where children and youth can feel supported even in their most vulnerable moments.' The installation is located along Roblin Boulevard between Shaftsbury Boulevard and Assiniboine Park Drive.
