Christian Moore extends on-base streak in game No. 3 at Knoxville Rocket City (7-16) won its first contest Thursday in a six-game series at Knoxville (12-11). The Trash Pandas defeated Knoxville, 5-3, at Covenant Health Park. 3,961 were in attendance. Former Vol Christian Moore started at second base for Rocket City against the Smokies. He went 1-for-4 and scored one run. Moore extended his on-base streak to five games. Game No. 4 between the Trash Pandas and Smokies is slated for Friday at 7 p.m. EDT. Knoxville won the first two contests in the series. Moore was selected by the Angels in the first round (No. 8 overall) of the 2024 MLB draft. Rocket City is a Double-A affiliate of the Angels. He played at Tennessee from 2022-24 and appeared in 186 games, totaling 61 home runs, 160 RBIs and 179 runs. Moore appeared in 72 games for the Vols in 2024. Christian Moore returns to Knoxville with Rocket City Former Vol Christian Moore returned to Knoxville on Tuesday with the Rocket City Trash Pandas, a Double-A affiliate of the Angels. Knoxville defeated Rocket City, 9-6, at Covenant Health Park. Covenant Health Park opened April 15 in the Old City. Knoxville is a Double-A affiliate of the Cubs. Moore started at second base and was Rocket City's leadoff hitter. He went 3-for-5 against the Smokies and totaled one home run, two RBIs and one run. The former Vol hit a single in his first at bat during the first inning. He also hit a fly out in his second at bat, while hitting a home run in the fourth inning. Moore hit a sixth-inning single to center field and grounded out to shortstop in a final at bat during the eighth inning. Knoxville and Rocket City will continue a six-game Southern League series on Wednesday. First pitch for game No. 2 is scheduled for 7 p.m. EDT. Angels DFA RHP Carl Edwards Jr. in bullpen shake-up
April 26 - The Los Angeles Angels adjusted their bullpen with a pair of moves Saturday, as left-hander Jake Eder was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake and right-hander Jose Fermin had his contract purchased from Double-A Rocket City. The Angels designated right-hander Carl Edwards Jr. for assignment after right-hander Victor Mederos was optioned to Salt Lake late Friday. Eder, 26, has one game of major league experience in a two-inning outing with the Chicago White Sox last season. He was 0-1 with a 6.00 ERA in three appearances at Triple-A. Fermin, 23, is set to make his major league debut after he went 3-0 with a 1.13 ERA in six relief appearances at Rocket City. Edwards, who won a World Series title with the Chicago Cubs in 2016, gave up three runs in two outings for the Angels after he was called up Wednesday along with Mederos. An 11-year veteran, Edwards is 16-14 in his career with a 3.59 ERA in 298 relief outings for seven different clubs. Mederos, 23, gave up two runs in three innings of his lone outing Friday on the road against the Minnesota Twins.
