Angels DFA RHP Carl Edwards Jr. in bullpen shake-up
April 26 - The Los Angeles Angels adjusted their bullpen with a pair of moves Saturday, as left-hander Jake Eder was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake and right-hander Jose Fermin had his contract purchased from Double-A Rocket City.
The Angels designated right-hander Carl Edwards Jr. for assignment after right-hander Victor Mederos was optioned to Salt Lake late Friday.
Eder, 26, has one game of major league experience in a two-inning outing with the Chicago White Sox last season. He was 0-1 with a 6.00 ERA in three appearances at Triple-A.
Fermin, 23, is set to make his major league debut after he went 3-0 with a 1.13 ERA in six relief appearances at Rocket City.
Edwards, who won a World Series title with the Chicago Cubs in 2016, gave up three runs in two outings for the Angels after he was called up Wednesday along with Mederos. An 11-year veteran, Edwards is 16-14 in his career with a 3.59 ERA in 298 relief outings for seven different clubs.
Mederos, 23, gave up two runs in three innings of his lone outing Friday on the road against the Minnesota Twins.

Horse named after former MLB All-Star ruled out of Royal Ascot
Outfielder, co-owned by Jayson Werth, Amo Racing and trainer Wesley Ward, joins a lengthening list of equine stars who will miss the prestigious fixture An exciting horse named after a former MLB All-Star will not make the trip to Royal Ascot after suffering a setback. Outfielder, co-owned by Jayson Werth, Kia Joorabchian's Amo Racing and trainer Wesley Ward, was second favourite for the Norfolk Stakes after making a stunning debut in which he scored by seven lengths. Werth played as an outfielder for many top teams during a 15 year career in Major League Baseball, including the Toronto Blue Jays, Los Angeles Dodgers and Washington Nationals, and was looking forward to having his first runner at the meeting. During a three year spell with the Philadelphia Phillies, he played a pivotal role in the team's defeat of the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2008 World Series. Since he launched his own racing operation, Two Eight Racing, Werth has enjoyed big race success with Dornoch, who captured the 2024 Belmont Stakes. Ward, who has saddled 12 Royal Ascot winners, had identified Outfielder as his number one pick for the royal meeting, describing the colt as 'very quick, very smart and a highly intelligent colt.' He added: 'Jayson Werth is a big name in baseball and Outfielder was his position and I chose the name and cleared it with Kia and when I told Jayson as a surprise, he was elated the horse was named after him.' However, Outfielder was ruled out after a workout at Keeneland with Ward telling the TDN the colt had been sidelined by 'a bit of a shin issue.' The five day Royal Ascot meeting, which starts on Tuesday, has suffered a number of withdrawals of its biggest names in recent days. On Tuesday Irish Champion Stakes winner Economics was ruled out of the the £1 million Prince of Wales's Stakes after pulling a muscle. He joined a list which already included Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Lake Victoria, who had been favourite for the Coronation Stakes, and last year's winner of the fillies' Group 1 Porta Fortuna who will be out until the second half of the season. Lake Victoria's trainer Aidan O'Brien has also been forced to scratched his top two-year-old challenger Albert Einstein as well as retiring Kyprios the two-time Ascot Gold Cup winner.

‘What a feeling' – Topless Steve Bunting copies Luke Littler as he sleeps with Nordic Darts Masters Trophy
STEPHEN BUNTING is going global as he tries to prove his Premier League flop was a one-off. The Bullet, 40, picked up a second World Series of Darts title this year on Saturday night as he beat Rob Cross 8-4 in the final in Copenhagen. 2 2 Bunting, ranked fourth in the world, slept with the Nordic Darts Masters trophy in his hotel room before catching a flight home to the UK. The 40-year-old channelled his inner-Lionel Messi as he posted a cheeky topless snap of him cuddling up with the gong - just like rival Luke Littler. He wrote on X: "Good morning Copenhagen! What a great feeling waking up along side this beauty." Bunting's performances were a contrast to the misery he had endured during the 17-week Prem where he suffered 12 first-round losses. Finishing bottom of the eight-man table would have rocked the confidence of lesser men. But the St Helens thrower – whose 'Bunting Mental' shtick is growing around the world – has always believed he can cope with the elite in knockout events. Trips to New York, Poland, Australia and New Zealand this summer could consolidate his position at the top of the rankings for this invitational series. He said: "Listen, in the Premier League, you're playing the best players in the world. "For whatever reason, it just didn't happen for me. I said to my management and family, I won't lose heart. I still believe. "I put in some really good performances. Unfortunately it wasn't to be. Premier League Darts star Stephen Bunting 'moonlighting as Rangers steward' as incredible Ibrox doppelganger spotted "It was a long time since I had been in the Premier League, 10 years in fact, and it was like going back to a new school this year. I was proud of myself towards the end. "I have shown how good I can be, especially on the World Series. "I believe I am consistent. My doubles have let me down in the last two months. "Sometimes I have to pinch myself. I know how good I can be. It's dog-eat-dog out there. I'm glad to be up there in the rankings. "These aren't ranked tournaments. I will take these wins. It's all about gaining confidence, it's like a snowball effect. "Hopefully this can rub off in the likes of the World Matchplay and other ProTours. I am looking forward to the rest of the season. "When I went out in the arena, I saw the scarves, the shirts, the 'Bunting Mental' hats and cheers and chants. "It was a great venue. The crowd rooted for me and got me through my games."
