Def Leppard brings rock back to Vegas for new residency: How to get tickets
Def Leppard fans are used to seeing the veteran band headlining stadiums and festivals with some amphitheaters dotting the itinerary. But in February, the rock titans will commandeer the 4,100-capacity Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas for a dozen shows. 'Def Leppard: Live at Caesars Palace The Las Vegas Residency' marks the third residency for the hitmakers behind air guitar classics 'Photograph,' 'Rock of Ages,' 'Hysteria,' 'Pour Some Sugar on Me' and dozens of other hits. Def Leppard – singer Joe Elliott, guitarists Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell, bassist Rick Savage and drummer Rick Allen – will play at 8 p.m. PT each night: Presale tickets will be available to Citi card members at from 1 p.m. ET July 22 through 1 a.m. ET July 25. A fan club presale starts at 1 p.m. ET July 22 and other presales through Live Nation and Caesars Rewards run from 1 p.m. ET July 24 to 1 a.m. ET July 25. Tickets to the general public go on sale at 1 p.m. ET July 25 via Elliott tells USA TODAY that the quintet is currently tossing out Vegas song suggestions daily. 'We haven't nailed the set yet, but it's percolating in a pot.' Did Elliott share a bit more about what fans can expect at next year's Vegas shows? You betcha. Question: This is your third residency in Las Vegas. Are there favorite places the band has discovered there over the years? Joe Elliott: To be quite honest, I don't go out much. I'm the king of Netflix. Because I'm a singer, what will happen if I go out to eat? I'll hold court and talk all night! I also end up being the Pied Piper because as soon as anyone recognizes you, it gets a bit messy. I saw the band at the Borgata in Atlantic City last month and heard you visited my favorite restaurant, Chef Vola's, the night before the show. The food was outstanding and I had to do the treadmill even longer the day after. When I go to restaurants like that, I have to exercise even more. But they really looked after us and nobody came up to ask for a photo. They were like, we had Sinatra here, who are you guys? (laughs) So you can go out unbothered sometimes? I think in Vegas on a Sunday you might spot me with a baseball cap on trying to find a restaurant. I might play mini golf at the KISS place (at Rio Las Vegas). Gene (Simmons) told me I had to go last time and we did. We also saw 'Love' twice (the now-closed Beatles-themed Cirque du Soleil show). I went into the gift shop and bent my credit card to death on rugs and mugs and plates. It was total fandom. Much like the Borgata, The Colosseum at Caesars will give the band a chance to play to a few thousand people at a time instead of a massive stadium. I love Caesars. It's iconic and a great vibe. The only thing is the hazard of Vegas. It's the strangest place for residencies. It's the worst environment for a voice, bone dry. Step into the boudoir of any singer in Vegas and if they have half a brain, the bath is full of boiling water. That's another reason I don't go out too much, otherwise I'll get on stage and sound like Tiny Tim. It's still early, but what can you say about the new show? When we close down this current tour in October, that's the last time you're going to see this particular show. Vegas will have a new concept. We have the A, B and C song list – the crown jewels we have to play, the ones we hope other people like and some that will throw people off. Not to copy Taylor (Swift), but I do like the idea of an eras-type thing, maybe one song from every album. We have the acoustic breakdown that may stay, maybe with different songs. We have to keep some mystique about it, but it's going to be great.

News briefs for Saturday, July 12, 2025
A collection of breaking news briefs filed on Saturday, July 12, 2025 10:35 PM The Winnipeg Folk Festival is warning festivalgoers about laced gel cap mushrooms on site. 'Gel can mushrooms should be avoided as they may also have an additive in them, which can lead to fainting,' the folk fest said in an email Saturday. Several concertgoers at the Birds Hill park fest have received first aid after they experienced an 'adverse reaction,' the email said. The 50th edition of the fest wraps up Sunday. 10:54 AM Rainbow Stage has cancelled its matinee performance of Rock of Ages due to poor air quality Saturday. The musical theatre company said it is monitoring the forecast and hopes to proceed with its 7:30 p.m. show tonight. Those with tickets to today's 2 p.m. show will be given an option to attend the evening performance instead. Refunds will also be provided. 'As an open-air theatre, this is now, regrettably, one of the many nature-related challenges that we face,' the company said in a news release. 'Everyone here at Rainbow Stage is equally disappointed to be in this position.' The air quality index forecast for Winnipeg at 2 p.m. is 10-plus, or very high risk. 10:20 AM A 25-year-old man is facing various charges after police say he damaged a fire truck and assaulted a Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crew member. Winnipeg police say WFPS was called to the 300 block of Princess Street Friday around 1:20 a.m. for reports of a pick up truck on fire. As the fire truck travelled to the scene, a man began hitting it with a metal pole near Princess Street and Logan Avenue, a Saturday media release states. Once WFPS parked, a crew member exited the truck and was confronted by the man who allegedly hit him in the face with the pole. Police say the man was linked to the vehicle fire. He is facing charges of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon, mischief under $5,000, arson causing damage to property, possession of incendiary material and fail to comply with condition of release order. The man was detained in custody. 10:08 AM With a severe weather alert indicating an air quality index of 11 at Birds Hill Park this morning, the Winnipeg Folk Festival sent out an advisory via its app this morning for people travelling to the site today to come prepared with masks. Wildfire smoke is blanketing the province, reducing air quality significantly. An 11 rating is a very high health risk. People, especially at-risk populations, children and seniors, are advised to reduce strenuous activities outdoors, especially if experiencing symptoms such as coughing and throat irritation.

REVIEW: Def Leppard, Joan Jett, Queensrÿche a killer kickoff to Rockin' Thunder
The monumental Rock of Ages is easily one of Def Leppard's defining heights of song — but it's also a nice way to describe the inaugural Rockin' Thunder music fest, kicking off with eight hours of straight, plugged-in, eternal AM radio rock Friday to an enormous party crowd. Article content Up top, headlining as night crept in: the aforementioned British quintet — ever in a tight race with Iron Maiden and Metallica in the 'most-seen T-shirts' contest around here. Article content Article content As such, arena-level masses of high thousands were no surprise, dancing, grinding and getting otherwise impressively pornographic in front of a bunch of elder blonde dudes, culminating in a scream-along Pour Some Sugar On Me in front of computer-graphic space motorbikes spewing lightning. Article content Article content Starting off with the deliciously proggy spoken opening to Queen of the Reich — just so we knew who was playing, perhaps — 13-year-member, Bob-Seger-vibed lead singer Todd La Torre quickly demonstrated his ceiling shattering tones to heights we really wouldn't quite hear again today, holding notes long enough to make all the resident dragonflies crash land. Article content Article content Queensrÿche, in a word, ruled, as anyone who enjoys the Ronnie James Dio era of Black Sabbath might tell you, the show ranging from a Priest-y-feeling Breaking the Silence to a wall-of-sound, guitar-explosive Warning, and sing-alongs I Don't Believe in Love and The Needle Lies, with co-founder Michael Wilton riff-blasting that sick skull guitar into our faces with his wicked metal scowl, back to back with evil-looking Mike Stone. Article content Article content They nodded to Ozzy and just-laid-to-rest Black Sabbath, but for my money, the growly, soaring Empire was the height, which the band capped off with Eyes of a Stranger after La Torre thanked their dedicated fans, or as he called them, 'repeat offenders.' Article content Hell of a start, already checking my watch, wondering how to handle such an onslaught for seven more hours. Article content Next up, after some hellos from the amicable and big-hearted Terry Evans, were Prairie rockers Toque, who I honestly did not know leaned into the covers so hard. But hey, in a crumbling world where we're waving in the ultimate karaoke of A.I. with such blind enthusiasm, may as well lie back and enjoy it!

Julianne Hough Details Freezing Her Eggs for the Third Time at 36 in Candid New Interview: 'I'm Reclaiming My Power' (Exclusive)
Julianne Hough is getting candid about her hopes for her next chapter of her life and career The Dancing with the Stars pro discusses her recent egg-freezing journey and went into the decision to do the process again for the third time She also reveals a non-negotiable when datingJulianne Hough was just 18 when she joined Dancing with the Stars as a professional dancer in 2007, with only $2,000 in her pocket after moving from Utah to Los Angeles. And now, 18 years later, Hough, 36, is reflecting on what she'd tell teenage Julianne, whose beginnings on the show would launch a career beyond her wildest dreams. After a pause, Hough says, "Honestly, I wouldn't tell her anything." "She got me here today," she continues. "It's so funny because I think we always want to give our younger selves advice, but you don't know what you don't know until you know it." "Every moment that I've gone through, whether it be painful mistakes, self-sabotaging, or being brave and taking a risk and putting yourself out there are just part of the journey," she says. "They build character." She left the show in 2009 and returned in 2014 to serve as a judge, a position she held until 2017. In the years she spent away from the show, she steadily carved out an acting career for herself with roles in films like 2010's Burlesque, 2011's Footloose, 2012's Rock of Ages and 2013's Safe Haven. She also played Sandy in the live Fox television production of Grease in 2016 and launched her Los Angeles dance and fitness studio KINRGY in 2018. "Being a founder is one of the hardest things you'll ever do because it's like you have an idea, and then you have to let it go and let it breathe and do its own thing," she says. "The best compliment I get is when people come up to me and are like, 'Wow, everybody who's here made me feel so welcomed. What you've created here has allowed me to connect to my body and my confidence." "I wasn't really showing it to be like, 'I'm going to make a big statement,' but with the response I got, I realized how important it was," she says. "I found out I have endometriosis when I was 19 or 20, and I wish back then I would've been told to freeze my eggs, but I wasn't told until later on." Hough's decision to undergo her most recent egg-freezing process, her third total, had a lot to do with freeing herself from the "psychological fear" of a ticking biological clock. Along with her endometriosis, "I have some other health implications that might make [conceiving] challenging, and I got a divorce and now I'm in a different stage of life," she says. "For me, it's never been about, 'I'm not ready,' but I know it is for some people. I think the time will be right when it's right." Since the first time she went through the egg-freezing process, Hough has noticed her growth. "It ain't easy when you're doing the shots, but I will say this time around, I had a much better understanding of what I needed," she says. "Also, the first time I did it, I didn't do the shots myself. I went in every day, and they did them for me. Then I was like, 'Wait, I feel really empowered doing them myself.' Along the way I was able to call friends who have gone through it at any moment and be like, 'Hey, I feel really crazy right now. Can you just come over and sit next to me?'" "I always cognitively tried to live my life where I wasn't concerned about what others thought, but to truly feel it is a different thing," she says. "Now, I see it as, 'This is my one life that I get to live, and I get to design it however I want.' I'm reclaiming my own power. Then, whatever is supposed to come will naturally come." "I think I have faith in general that I'm the person my person is also waiting for, you know?" she says. "If I'm ready for that next chapter of my life, it's because I'm in a really good place. So, I've just been focusing on what makes me happy and my vision of what I'm looking for, but not holding on too tightly. Me and my [dog] Sunny girl, we are happy, we are thriving, and creating space for whatever comes next." So "must love dogs" is a non-negotiable? "I'm not going to lie, I went on a date once and they said they didn't like dogs, and I was like, 'The date is over,'" she says with a laugh. "They even went one step further and were like, 'I mean, I guess I could like a dog if it was like a cat.' I was like, 'Oh my gosh, stop the car!'" Since 2023, she's co-hosted DWTS with Alfonso Ribeiro, and the duo are currently preparing for season 34 to kick off in September. She'll also return to the big screen in Maggie Gyllenhaal's Frankenstein-inspired film The Bride! premiering in 2026. "I haven't done a movie in a very long time," she says. "To be a part of this cast and to work with the director, Maggie, in a role where I felt like, 'Oh, I know I can do well in this,' after not having that be my focus for a long time was a beautiful experience and foray back into the world of acting and filmmaking." As she heads into a busy fall, Hough — who is also the new celebrity ambassador of Icelandic Glacial water — is debating on taking some much-deserved time off. "This year has been a little bit of a transition for me, and even during the pandemic I was building KINRGY, so I didn't really take a proper break," she says. "I'm about to start something new and it's going to take a lot of energy and focus, so I might just take July and August off." And yet, there's no doubt her vision for this next chapter will remain at the forefront of her mind. "I just want to be a space or a person or a product that allows people to connect to their most authentic version of themselves," she says. "This next season of my life is more about taking all the things that I've learned and sort of passing it along in a way where it activates other people to step into their power."
