Mental health gets big boost from Sudbury's Melynda and Frank Grossi

Hugh Kruzel A team of psychotherapists in Sudbury know that when it comes to mental health, many clients have no support, while others run out of treatment dollars before a return to wellness. 'It is time to address this gap,' said Stacey Roles of the Roles Alliance for Mental Health and Wellness, which is based in Sudbury but serves much of northeastern Ontario. The Roles Alliance has recently launched a new not-for-profit organization that offers psychotherapy intervention to those in these two categories. it has just received a $100,000 private donation for startup costs and to support year one of their not-for-profit work. Most of their work is done in the virtual world primarily because of distance. 'We do have clinicians at brick-and-mortar offices in Sudbury, Espanola, Elliot Lake, Sault Ste. Marie,' Roles said. 'We can meet individuals, couples, families. Within our team, we have someone who specializes in most areas we get requests for.' Roles Alliance can treat a wide range of challenges and disorders. Roles has personally trained the 18 colleagues who can help. She originally qualified as a nurse, earned a master's and then a PhD. She is the principal of The Roles Alliance for Mental Health and Wellness. The board of directors include her, plus Kim Brouzes and Lynn Labelle. 'We tend to stop care for mental health when insurance runs out,' Roles has observed. What then? 'What we are doing with this alliance is bridging between public health care and privatized health care. This is where this cheque is so important,' said Roles. Melynda and Frank Grossi personally understand how much mental health affects all aspects of family, work, and the totality of life. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) looks at how our thoughts and emotions affect actions and acknowledges that we can change. 'Mental health affects everybody,' said Frank Grossi, a Sudbury businessman who is open about his struggle. 'I've been dealing with a trauma that happened when I was young – 19 – that impacts me still to this day. 'It has been tough for my family. I have a great wife and family, and I was lucky to find and be assisted by Stacey and Kim. I saw multiple therapists over 28 years, but here I found this support system is what changed my life. 'It is time to start doing something for others. The sooner we can get in front of specialists, it really helps. My dreams and nightmares upset me … Here, I know others can find the solutions I discovered. 'We need to destigmatize mental health. I am not ashamed to say I am in therapy. I see results. I now want to get up every day. Sometimes, I don't know I've changed, but others say I have … and then I pause, reflect, and agree. So we wanted to make this donation.' One hundred thousand dollars speaks to how much the Grossis value the efforts of The Roles Alliance. 'I know the importance of what he is getting here,' said Melynda Grossi. 'We are here to help people,' added Brouze. We hope that other people will also donate to the cause. 'Mental health is not like orthotics.' It is not a one-and-done.' Kelly Ripa's daughter celebrates year of 'pure magic' with British boyfriend

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos' daughter, Lola Grace Consuelos, has celebrated "another year of pure magic" with her "heavenly" boyfriend, Cassius Kidston. It's unclear when the New Yorker began dating the 25-year-old Englishman, but they met while attending New York University. He was studying sports management, and she was working towards a degree in music and production. In an Instagram slideshow, Consuelos and Kidston can be seen hobnobbing at a posh outdoor event. In another shot, The Watcher songstress embraces her beau outside a building in Montalegre, Portugal. ADVERTISEMENT Lola also posted lots of solo shots of her "handsome" boyfriend relaxing on a sunlounger and stepping out in a tux. Last week, Consuelos enlisted Cassius to help her promote her upcoming single, Lola, with a TikTok video. The Roles singer, who moved to London last October, "cannot waitÚ for her EP to be released and credits her boyfriend as part of her success. "I think he's supportive in the way that my parents are, my friends are - just great advice, letting me do my thing," Lola gushed to E! News. "That's all you can really ask for because they're not singers, he's not a singer. I'm the singer here. So they all give me the advice that they can to the best of their ability." Since February, Kidston has been employed as a sports talent sales assistant. His father, Simon Kidston, is a multi-millionaire car dealer who splits his time between Dubai, London, Milan and Geneva.

Police: Johnstown man was speeding in winter conditions before crash that killed woman

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A Johnstown man is facing homicide charges after a 2024 accident that police said involved speeding and winter weather that left a woman dead. Michael Zimmerman, 31, has been charged for his role in the January 2024 accident that killed Margaret Agnes Roles, according to a criminal complaint. On Jan. 8, 2024, just before 7:30 a.m. officers with the Summerhill Township Police Department were called to a vehicle accident with entrapment on State Route 53. Officers arrived to find a tri-axle truck facing southbound, driven by Zimmerman, and a white Chevy Cobalt also facing southbound with heavy front damage. Forest Hills EMS informed officers shortly after they arrived on scene that Roles, who was the driver of the Chevy had passed. PREVIOUS COVERAGE: Coroner called to Cambria County crash, Route 53 reopened Pennsylvania State Police, along with the coroner, were called to the scene and they performed a reconstruction of the accident. According to the affidavit, troopers determined that Zimmerman was traveling 57 mph in a 35 mph zone when he failed to negotiate a right-hand turn. Troopers added that the roads were covered in snow and were wet at the time of the accident. Zimmerman then allegedly lost control of his vehicle, crossed the double yellow line and struck Role's vehicle. An autopsy done by the coroner confirmed that Roles died from multiple blunt-force trauma that she sustained in the crash. Zimmerman is facing three felony charges, homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, aggravated assault by vehicle and a misdemeanor charge of recklessly endangering another person. Zimmerman is scheduled to be arraigned on March 26. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
