CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A Johnstown man is facing homicide charges after a 2024 accident that police said involved speeding and winter weather that left a woman dead.
Michael Zimmerman, 31, has been charged for his role in the January 2024 accident that killed Margaret Agnes Roles, according to a criminal complaint. On Jan. 8, 2024, just before 7:30 a.m. officers with the Summerhill Township Police Department were called to a vehicle accident with entrapment on State Route 53.
Officers arrived to find a tri-axle truck facing southbound, driven by Zimmerman, and a white Chevy Cobalt also facing southbound with heavy front damage. Forest Hills EMS informed officers shortly after they arrived on scene that Roles, who was the driver of the Chevy had passed.

Pennsylvania State Police, along with the coroner, were called to the scene and they performed a reconstruction of the accident. According to the affidavit, troopers determined that Zimmerman was traveling 57 mph in a 35 mph zone when he failed to negotiate a right-hand turn. Troopers added that the roads were covered in snow and were wet at the time of the accident. Zimmerman then allegedly lost control of his vehicle, crossed the double yellow line and struck Role's vehicle.
An autopsy done by the coroner confirmed that Roles died from multiple blunt-force trauma that she sustained in the crash.
Zimmerman is facing three felony charges, homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, aggravated assault by vehicle and a misdemeanor charge of recklessly endangering another person.
Zimmerman is scheduled to be arraigned on March 26.

Altoona police continue targeting drug dealers from Philadelphia — 3 more arrested

ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — Altoona police are continuing to work hard to keep drugs from reaching city streets from Philadelphia. In addition to multiple other recent arrests of Philadelphia residents, Altoona police arrested three men, two from Philadelphia, Wednesday, June 4. Amir Palmer-Kennedy, 20, Xavier Herring, 18, both from Philadelphia, and Raymone Kitchens, 22, of Altoona, were arrested during a traffic stop after narcotics officers received information about a dealer driving around Altoona in a silver Chevrolet Malibu. Police were able to find the Malibu and begin surveillance. According to Altoona Police, the vehicle was seen making numerous short stops at homes and businesses throughout the city. During a traffic stop, K9 Blue indicated narcotics in the Malibu. A search of the vehicle found 17 baggies stamped with the 'Chucky' doll head hidden behind a piece of trim in the car. Police noted that a total of $800 was also found, which contained previously recorded money from controlled purchases. Philadelphia duo arrested in Altoona with drugs after foot chase Officers explained the 'Chucky' bags of drugs contain a larger quantity of fentanyl than most others and cost twice as much.. Police added they've received information since the beginning of 2025 that these specific branded drugs were coming into Altoona from an area in Philadelphia. Narcotics officers noted that the 'Chucky' bags are responsible for multiple fentanyl overdoses in Altoona in 2025. All three men were arrested and charged with possession with intent to deliver and conspiracy of possession with intent to deliver. Herring was also charged with a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia, while Palmer-Kennedy was also charged with tampering with evidence, paraphernalia and a window tint violation. Mother jailed after Clearfield Dairy Queen employee calls 911 while she ‘nods off'

CLEARFIELD, Pa. (WTAJ) — A Clearfield County mother was jailed after Clearfield Regional police were called to Dairy Queen for reports of her 'nodding off' while trying to feed a child in a stroller. Jessica Lynn Bowman, 38, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, reckless endangerment, possession with intent to deliver and possession of a controlled substance. According to the criminal complaint, police were dispatched to Dairy Queen in Lawrence Township Wednesday, June 4, at 7:10 p.m. for reports of a woman, later identified as Bowman, nodding off while trying to feed a child and while standing with the child. While en route, police said they were informed that a Dairy Queen employee had also called about the woman. After arriving, police said they were waved down as Bowman was leaving the store. When officers spoke to her, she was allegedly slow and lethargic and was having trouble keeping her eyes open, the complaint reads. Police tried talking to her and said she continued to talk about things completely irrelevant to the situation. According to charging documents, she alleged she was just 'tired from life.' Police noted that she admitted to taking prescribed Suboxone, but nothing else. According to charges, police were permitted to search her and allegedly found a plastic baggie with suspected heroin and a small pick they noted is typically used for drugs. A search of her child's stroller also found subscription pill bottles with miscellaneous pills inside, broken glass smoking devices wrapped in a sweatshirt next to the child and multiple baggies of a white crystal-like substance. Police noted that through the entire interaction, Bowman had trouble standing and would use a light pole to help keep her balance, the complaint was placed in Clearfield County Prison with bail set at $150,000. It should be noted that the child was taken by Child and Youth Services that evening. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
