Caribbean island with few tourists despite temperatures hitting 31C in June
The lesser-known Caribbean island of Grenada is a true gem, with stunning white sand beaches, lush rainforests and some incredible natural wonders for a dreamy holiday An undiscovered Caribbean paradise offers holidaymakers white sandy shores, lush forests and untouched natural beauty. Tucked away northwest of Trinidad and Tobago, northeast of Venezuela, and southwest of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the dreamy destination of Grenada personifies classic Caribbean appeal. Come May and June, Grenada presents superb weather with daytime temperatures averaging a comfortable 29C to 31C, cooling down to a pleasant 23C to 25C at night – a perfect respite from the unpredictable English climate. Yet, despite its charming climate, Grenada is still a hidden gem compared to its busier neighbours, welcoming just 366,000 visitors annually – far fewer than the likes of Antigua (680,000) and St Lucia (783,000). Famous for its aromatic nutmeg and mace, the island is fittingly dubbed the "Island of Spice" and has a storied past that includes early Arawak and Carib inhabitants, a period under French control in the 17th century, and its subsequent transformation into a British colony, as per a report by the Express. Grenada became independent from the UK in 1974 and now thrives as part of the Commonwealth. The nation prides itself on a rich cultural tapestry, with influences from African, European and indigenous Caribbean roots clearly visible in their rhythmic music, expressive dance, delectable food, and lively festivals, including the exuberant Carnival celebrations. Grenada isn't just rich in history, it's also an adrenaline junkie's dream destination where water sports abound. Thanks to the island's exceptional conditions, enthusiasts can try their hand at sailing, windsurfing, paddleboarding, and kiteboarding with plenty of resorts and aquatic centres on hand to offer both equipment hire and lessons. For those who prefer to keep their feet on dry land, a venture into Grenada's lush heartland to Annandale Falls is a must-do activity. This picturesque cascade invites visitors to either dive into its refreshing pool or simply soak up the tranquil atmosphere. The secluded spot has earned glowing reviews on TripAdvisor from those lucky enough to stumble upon it. One impressed visitor shared: "First visit, only there for a day from a cruise ship, but just love this beautiful country. The people are extraordinarily polite and friendly. "Taken around the island on a one hour taxi ride that lasted much longer and showed Grand Anse beach (absolutely gorgeous and where the locals play) and the famous University. Any Uni with its beach must be a winner! A beautiful, calm place to study with lots of happy-looking students milling around. "Flowers and trees are in full bloom and taxi driver Ronald is incredibly knowledgeable about the political history of the island. The waterfront is beautiful and so many fish to see. Some serious hills to climb to the fort etc, so wear comfy shoes." Another holidaymaker chimed in: "A must, Grenada is my favourite West Indian Island with the locals being very helpful and friendly, and the local shops being interesting and cheap. "Our favourite trip was on the Rhum Runner, a twin-hulled boat with a large flat deck and upper deck above. We boarded it for our second time just before Christmas with a steel band playing. "A trip around the main harbour followed by the crew feeding the local large fish. During this time the Rum Punch flowed in abundance, along with soft drinks, fresh local fruit, and cheese. "The next stop was a very beautiful beach which we landed on by literally walking down a gangplank. The rum still flowed whilst enjoying the scenery, even trays of drink appeared to float along on their own with crew members under the water."

Inside Demi Lovato-Jordan Lutes Wedding: Bestie Matthew Scott Montgomery Gives Punny Speech, Watch
It seems that along with having a dreamy ceremony, plenty of laughs were shared behind the scenes during Demi Lovato and Jordan 'Jutes' Lutes ' wedding. A hilarious clip from what appears to be the couple's rehearsal dinner is going viral on social media, featuring the singer's close friend, Matthew Scott Montgomery, delivering a pun-filled speech that cleverly references her iconic songs. What did Matthew Scott Montgomery say during the speech? In the clip circulating online, Matthew can be heard saying that when Lovato told him she had met her 'dream person,' he responded with, 'Here we go again.' He continued, 'But we were always sharing everything with each other, so I asked, 'Who is that boy?'' Lovato revealed it was Lutes, a musician, to which Matthew jokingly replied, 'A musician? Really, give my heart a break.' She mentioned she had met him the night before, prompting him to quip, 'Please promise me no promises, but lucky for him, she's got all these daddy issues. So if it was gonna be forever from then, I of course had a world of chances for Jordan.' Matthew then said that his expectations were like 'skyscrapers' and questioned what was wrong with being 'cautious.' He noted that he might sound 'stone cold,' but he would always be 'somewhere in the middle with her.' He continued, 'So I wanted to be sure. Did you forget she's my best friend? And oh, oh, oh — I really do care. I was like, okay, Matthew, don't freak, just in case he could be her happy ending. So, I said, 'Universe, send it on.'' Matthew shared that when he met Jutes, he instantly knew Lovato was done being 'solo.' He told her, 'Tell him you love him. Go tell your mother — cool for the summer? More like hot for the next two years. Talk about a fire starter — girl, you got dynamite.' He added that Jutes was truly 'the one who could fix her heart.' Matthew asks if they were tired of the pun During the speech, Matthew jokingly asked if everyone was tired of the puns, quickly adding, 'Sorry not sorry.' He then turned to Lutes and quipped, 'Do you remember December?' — playfully referring to their engagement as a 'heart attack.' But Matthew didn't stop there. He referenced Échame la Culpa, admitting that he still did not know what that meant,' before adding that their relationship is 'so far, so great.' He also shared that Lutes once told him he wouldn't be caught 'playing games' and added, 'You'll never want to get back to the old days, because my love's like a star.' Wrapping up the sentiment, Matthew noted that Lovato had told him Lutes accepts her completely for who she is. Matthew mentioned that Lovato wasn't a 'supermodel' and jokingly added, 'she still eats at Ronald's.' He continued with his signature humor, saying that if his body had a say, he felt it in his bones that Lutes is the 'right' one — and for anyone who disagreed, his message was clear: 'eat me.' He wrapped up the playful and heartfelt speech by saying that the songstress had finally found her 'only shorty.'

The Key Factor That Determines When Your Child Will Take Their First Steps
Fact checked by Sarah ScottIn a new study from the University of Surrey, researchers looked at genetic information of more than 70,000 infants. They found genetics accounted for nearly 25% of the variation in the walking milestone. This information may help health care providers assess and evaluate reasons for a child's delay in walking.A baby's first wobbly steps are a source of pride for many parents. A child's environment has long been associated with when they will walk. Yet, a groundbreaking study from the University of Surrey discovered that genetics also play a significant role. What does this research mean for parents and their babies? Let's break it down. Study authors, Anna Gui, PhD, a researcher at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, and Angelica Ronald, PhD, professor of psychology and genetics at the University of Surrey, and their research team analyzed the genetic information of more than 70,000 infants. They identified 11 genetic markers that may influence a child's brain development from birth and the timing of independent walking. The study revealed that genetics account for nearly 25% of the variation in this milestone. The study also revealed some good news for late walkers. While some previous studies linked early walking to higher achievement later in life, this study found a correlation between the genes influencing later walking and those associated with higher educational attainment. The research also indicates that late walking may be genetically linked to a decreased chance of developing attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Keep in mind, the research did not define what's considered late walking. 'What we think it might mean is that children who are genetically predisposed to be a bit more active and move around more are also going to walk a bit earlier,' explain both Dr. Gui and Dr. Ronald. 'It's important to clarify that the association is significant but modest. Therefore, we don't expect all early walkers to have ADHD, or all people with ADHD to have walked early. But there is a modest overlap in the genetic variation involved, which may help understand child development a bit further." A child's genes may influence when they walk, but so does their environment. Dr. Gui and Dr. Ronald recommend that children need a nutritious, energy-sustaining diet and ample space to practice their walking skills. Michael Glazier, MD, a pediatrician and chief medical officer for Bluebird Kids Health, agrees that a nourishing diet matters, as malnourishment can result in "decreased energy, decreased engagement with the environment, decreased muscle strength, and decreased stamina.' But that's not all parents should focus on. 'Babies who are constantly held or placed in swings or other constrained environments do not get the opportunity to engage in the physical exploration that is not just helpful but necessary for learning to walk,' explains Dr. Glazier. In contrast, he says, infants in safe, open spaces who can explore on their own may develop walking skills earlier. Encourage your child to play and explore to help them develop their motor skills. Dr. Glazier reassures parents that it's OK if their child is upset when a toy is out of reach—they need to learn to problem-solve and strengthen their muscles. Many parents eagerly anticipate their child's first steps, assuming they'll occur by the child's first birthday, but Dr. Glazier says there is a wide range of 'normal' milestones. Studies show the average onset of walking is between 8 and 18 months. Dr. Glazier says that gross motor skills tend to progress from the 'top-down' as babies first gain some control of their head, followed by the shoulders and trunk, knees, and legs. 'It is also important to understand there is a range of normal, and early attainment does not necessarily mean earlier or eventual better mastery,' he states. Still, if you're ever concerned about your child's motor skills' progress, Dr. Glazier strongly suggests contacting your health care provider for an assessment. Here are a few indicators your child may need an assessment, according to Dr. Glazier: Not pulling up to stand by 12 months Not cruising (using objects for support to move around) by 15 months Not walking independently by 18 months Dr. Glazier also notes that an infant who cannot walk independently but can stand on their own and walk by holding on to things is less concerning than one who has not been able to do these things yet. Typical developmental evaluation for motor delays will involve close observation, collecting patient history, and a thorough physical exam, explains Dr. Glazier. He recommends having videos to show the health care provider what your child can and cannot do. Although this new genetic study will not replace the need for individual examinations, Dr. Glazier believes it does promise additional information for health care providers to help them assess and evaluate the reasons for a child's delay in achieving the walking milestone. Dr. Gui and Dr. Ronald hope their research better supports children with learning disabilities and motor disorders, and helps parents to see that achieving milestones is not a race and that every child learns at their own pace.
