Rondale Moore injury update: Latest news, timeline on Vikings WR

It may be a very long time until Rondale Moore plays regular-season football again. The new Minnesota Vikings wide receiver had an opportunity for a fresh start with J.J. McCarthy and Kevin O'Connell, but the chance was cut short when he injured his knee in the Vikings-Houston Texans preseason Week 1 matchup on Saturday, Aug. 9. Moore was injured on a punt return, when he was tackled and pulled out of bounds by Texans linebacker Jamal Hill. He immediately grabbed his left knee after the tackle. Unfortunately for Moore, the knee injury came almost a year to the day when he tore his right ACL during training camp with the Atlanta Falcons. Here's what to know about Moore's injury and when we may see him again: Rondale Moore injury update Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell said that Moore has a "pretty significant" left knee injury, and that an MRI on Sunday, Aug. 10 should detail the severity. O'Connell didn't provide an exact diagnosis or nature of the injury. Moore was injured on a punt return, immediately grabbing his left knee after he was tackled. The cart was brought out soon after, taking him back to the locker room. Moore spent the entire 2024 season recovering from a torn ACL in his right knee as a member of the Falcons. He was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals 49th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. (This story will be updated.) 'Brutal' Injury Update For WR Rondale Moore On Saturday

'Brutal' Injury Update For WR Rondale Moore On Saturday originally appeared on The Spun. The worst kind of preseason news. It's been a string of unfortunate luck for Rondale Moore thus far at the NFL level and that reportedly continued into 2025. After missing all of last season with a knee injury, the former Purdue star went down in the second quarter of Saturday's preseason game and had to be carted off the field; unable to put any pressure on his leg. An emotional Moore put a towel over his head and was visibly upset as he rode back to the locker room — and now the worst is seemingly all but confirmed. Per ESPN's Kevin Seifert: "Rondale Moore has a 'pretty significant' left knee injury, per [Vikings head coach] Kevin O'Connell. He said the play had some characteristics of a hip drop tackle but would seek more clarity. Given Moore's injury history, O'Connell said today was 'heartbreaking.'" Fans felt awful for the ex-second round pick online. "Rondale simply can't get his body to cooperate. Such a shame," Nick Mensio replied. "He literally just came back from a significant knee injury last year…" a user pointed out. "Absolutely brutal few years for Rondale Moore," Falcons reporter Marc Raimondi commented. "This sucks!" a fan exclaimed. "Rondale Moore's season is likely over before it even began," a Vikings blog shared. "Unfortunate for the injury riddled speedy WR." "feel for brah he can't catch a break damn 🙏🏽" another person prayed. "Feel horrible for Rondale Moore. Can't stay healthy," Harrison Graham posted. "Incredibly sad," another user said. "Rondale Moore was one of my favorite players to watch when he was at Purdue. His 2018 season was sensational. Some bad luck at the NFL level." That really does suck for Rondale Moore. 😔. Another injury for him to endure." You hate to see injuries happen at any time but especially in an exhibition game after a guy just fought back from something season-ending the previous year. Last summer, Moore had to be carted off the practice field with an injury to the opposite knee in a joint practice with the Miami Dolphins. He signed with the Vikings this offseason on a one-year, $2 million deal back in March. Arizona Cardinals 2nd-round pick in 2021, now with Vikings, suffers major injury

Rondale Moore can't seem to catch a break. The NFL wide receiver, who was a second-round draft pick of the Arizona Cardinals in 2021 and is now a member of the Minnesota Vikings, suffered what appeared to be a serious injury to his left knee on Saturday, Aug. 9, in a game against the Houston Texans. Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell said Moore "does have a pretty significant left knee" injury and that the team would know more following an MRI planned for Aug. 10. Moore, injured on his first play of the preseason game, was returning from a major right-knee injury suffered last August. As he was in the game against the Texans, Moore was carted off the field in 2024 while practicing with the Atlanta Falcons during a joint practice with the Miami Dolphins. The Vikings signed Moore during the offseason. Moore was with the Cardinals for three seasons (39 games), during which he caught 135 passes for 1,201 yards and three touchdowns. He also scored a rushing touchdown. Injuries have continued to plague him from the start, however. Moore dealt with a neck strain, a concussion and a sprained ankle as a rookie. He missed 12 games in 2022 following a pulled hamstring, a groin strain and a dislocated finger. Moore appeared in 16 games his final season for the Cardinals in 2023, finishing with 40 receptions for 352 yards and a touchdown and 28 carries for 178 yards and another score. Upon his trade to the Falcons in 2024, he suffered torn knee ligaments during a joint practice against the Dolphins and missed the entire 2024 season. Now once again, it appears his season is over before it could begin. This article originally appeared on Arizona Republic: Cardinals 2nd-round pick in 2021, now with Vikings, suffers major injury

Vikings WR/PR Rondale Moore carted off field with lower body injury

August 10 - The Minnesota Vikings' Rondale Moore, attempting to return to action after missing all of last season with a knee injury, exited the team's preseason opener on Saturday with an apparent lower left leg injury during a second-quarter punt return against the Houston Texans. With Minnesota trailing 7-6, Moore returned a punt 2 yards before Houston linebacker Jamal Hill tackled him along the sideline. Moore stayed on the ground and was carted off the field. This came nearly a year to the day after Moore, then with Atlanta, was carted off the practice field after suffering a right knee injury that required surgery and forced the wideout to miss the entire season. A fifth-year pro out of Purdue, Moore looked to revive his career with Minnesota following a three-year stint with Arizona. In 39 career games (23 starts), all with the Cardinals, Moore has recorded 135 catches for 1,201 yards and three touchdowns. The Vikings' unofficial depth chart listed Moore as a backup receiver and the starting punt returner heading into Saturday's game. --Field Level Media
