Former NFL Player Changes Tune on Shedeur Sanders After Second Speeding Ticket

Former NFL Player Changes Tune on Shedeur Sanders After Second Speeding Ticket originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders has been pulled over twice in the past two weeks for driving well over the speed limit. Advertisement Sanders, 23, was pulled over and given his first speeding citation on June 5 in Brunswick Hills, Ohio, for driving 91 mph in a 65 mph zone. He faces $269 in fines and court costs for failing to appear for an arraignment on June 16, according to an ESPN report from Thursday. He was pulled over a second time by a Strongsville (Ohio) police officer at 12:24 a.m. ET on Tuesday for driving 101 in a 60 mph zone. Furthermore, the officer's body camera footage shows Sanders being questioned while sitting inside his black Dodge TRX pickup truck. He faces a $250 citation for the second encounter. He has also received criticism from a former NFL player about his recent behavior. The player didn't make much of an issue out of the first incident. 'The logic and mindset to have gotten a speeding ticket and then less than two weeks later, you're driving over 100 miles per hour and over 40 miles per hour over the speed limit,' former offensive lineman Ross Tucker said during a recent episode of the 'Ross Tucker Podcast.' Sanders performed well throughout Cleveland's minicamp and even impressed some fans, but that positive view could change because his legal troubles might negatively impact his reputation. Advertisement 'I don't know if that's entitlement or immaturity; there's got to be some teams that are feeling very good right now that they didn't draft him,' Tucker added. 'I just can't wrap my head around this, and then you drive over 100 miles per hour less than two weeks later.' Tucker continued, 'There's not many franchise quarterbacks who have had success after making mistakes like this. Not many, and to continue to have the mindset that he has after being pulled over twice in this short time frame and not learn from this mistake, it's mind-boggling.' 'I made some wrong choices personally and can own up to them,' he said in a video obtained by NBC Sports reporter Mike Florio. Can Aaron Rodgers Pull Off Brett Favre-Like 2009 Season?

Former NFL offensive lineman and current analyst Ross Tucker weighed in on the Pittsburgh Steelers' signing of four-time NFL MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Tucker believes the Steelers are hoping for a Brett Favre-like 2009 season from Rodgers. Favre, who at age 40, passed for 4,202 yards, 33 touchdown and seven interceptions in 2009. He also had a career-best 107.2 quarterback rating. Favre led Minnesota to the NFC Championship, coming up just short 31-28 against the New Orleans Saints. Advertisement 'Here what I will say about Aaron Rodgers, a couple thoughts. I believe the Steelers are hoping that he has his Brett Favre Vikings season in Pittsburgh this year. Remember when it was just OK for Favre with the Jets. Then he goes to the Vikings and in that first year he was awesome. I think that's what the Steelers are hoping for,' Tucker said on the Ross Tucker Podcast. Tucker also likes that the Steelers are not throwing in the white towel on the 2025 season. He respects Pittsburgh for trying to win and put veterans like Cam Heyward and T.J. Watt in the best position to win a Super Bowl. 'Look, I know a lot of Steelers fans, (it) doesn't seem like any of them are happy that Aaron Rodgers is going to be their quarterback. Here who is happy — Cam Heyward, T.J. Watt,' Tucker said. 'If the only argument is that the Steelers feel like Aaron Rodgers gives them their best chance to win, win a playoff game, maybe even go on a run. Then if you're a veteran player, some of the older guys like Cam Heyward or Watt, then you love this decision. Because you don't want to rebuild. You don't want to have a terrible year. You want to try to have the best season you can in 2025. And that part of it, I very much respect.' The Steelers are currently on a eight-year playoff win drought, which has not occurred for the franchise since pre-1972. Watt hasn't even won a playoff game in his decorated career. The Steelers are hoping Rodgers' could help snap the dreaded playoff win streak. Despite signing Rodgers, the Steelers' Super Bowl odds did not change at most sportsbooks. In fact, the Steelers' Super Bowl odds went unchanged at BETMGM (+4500). The Steelers (22-1) have the eighth-best odds to win the AFC and third-best odds (+600) to win the AFC North. Advertisement Pittsburgh's win total for the 2025 season is set at 8.5. There's two reasons for why the odds were not altered. First, it was expected that Rodgers was going to sign with Pittsburgh (eventually). It really wasn't a secret. Second, at 41 years of age, how much of an impact will Rodgers have on the Steelers' season? He's an upgrade from Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, but he does not elevate the Steelers into the Super Bowl contenders category. Despite narratives that Rodgers is washed, it's hard to dispute that he's not the best quarterback the Steelers have had since Ben Roethlisberger retired after the 2021 season. Since 2022, Rodgers has 54 passing touchdowns. In that same time frame, the Steelers have had only 46 touchdown passes. Rodgers also had only one pass attempt in 2023 before suffering a season-ending Achilles injury. Advertisement The four-time league MVP and future Hall of Fame quarterback showed he can still play good football last year with the New York Jets, throwing for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Auckland's new property valuations released: Check your CV today

Auckland homeowners checking their latest council valuations, released this morning, might be surprised to see their properties are now valued 9% less on average. The new rating valuations were released on the Auckland Council website while formal notices will be posted or emailed to ratepayers from Friday. Based on property market trends in May 2024, the figures show variations across property types and locations throughout the region, with industrial, lifestyle, and rural properties bucking the downward valuation trend. The valuations are not intended to accurately reflect current market value but are used to determine how the city's rates burden is shared among property owners. It comes as the council prepares to roll out a 5.8% average rates increase from July. Properties whose values decreased by less than the 9% average will likely face higher-than-average rate increases. ADVERTISEMENT Auckland Council building (file image). (Source: 1News) "If your residential property value has reduced more than the average (-9%) change between the two valuations, you can expect a smaller rates increase than the 5.8%," said Auckland Council chief financial officer Ross Tucker. The overall capital value movements between the 2021 and 2024 valuations show industrial properties increased 5%, while commercial properties fell 5%. Lifestyle and rural properties both increased by 4%. Properties closer to Auckland's central business district generally experienced larger value decreases, with Albert-Eden, Maungakiekie-Tāmaki, Waitematā, Whau and Puketāpapa areas all seeing drops of 13 to 14%. But, values in areas further from the city centre held up better, with Hibiscus and Bays, Upper Harbour and Franklin experiencing smaller decreases between 1 and 4%. "At the time of the 2021 rating valuation in June 2021, the official cash rate had been at an all-time low," he said. "We saw exceptionally low mortgage rates and strong upward pressure on property prices. The 2021 rating valuation reflected those higher prices. "In contrast, the 2024 rating valuation in May 2024, occurred when the OCR had been lifted to its recent high of 5.5%. Higher interest rates cooled buyer demand, leading to a decline in property prices. "Despite that fall, the median house price as at May 2024 was still above the level just prior to the OCR cut of March 2020, and that remains the case today. The morning's headlines in 90 seconds, including new corruption report, California protests, and Justin Baldoni's legal loss. (Source: 1News) "The recent economic cycle – with its unusually steep climb and fall – helps explain why some properties have had swings between the two rating valuations." Tucker said most Auckland ratepayers will see some degree of rates increase from July 1, with the average annual rates for a residential property valued at $1.29 million set to be $4069 – an increase of $223 per year or about $4.30 weekly. The valuations do not change how much the council takes in rates, as this is set annually following community consultation. For the upcoming financial year, Auckland Council has approved an overall average rates increase of 5.8% for residential ratepayers.
