Minister Narayana says top-notch arrangements in place for Rottela Panduga

Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Ponguru Narayana along with Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy on Monday reviewed the arrangements for 'Rottela Panduga', to begin on July 6(Sunday), near Bara Shaheed Dargah in Nellore. The Minister announced that exceptional arrangements are being made for the festival. The Minister and the MLA also inaugurated the cleaning machinery donated by Swachh Andhra Corporation to Nellore Municipal Corporation (NMC) to remove hyacinth accumulated in Swarnala Cheruvu lake water. Later, they both discussed the development works being done at the premises of Bara Shaheed Dargah. Speaking to media, Mr. Narayana said, 'During my previous tenure as Minister in 2014-2019, many development programmes were carried out at Bara Shaheed Dargah. The roads and toilets were arranged so that devotees did not face any difficulties. Separate wash rooms were built especially for women devotees.' This year, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has released ₹5 crore for the construction of a hall in the dargah. MLA Sridhar Reddy and Waqf Board officials are discussing and finalising the hall design. The work will begin immediately after the festival, he said. Over the years, the number of devotees has increased significantly for Rottela Panduga, which is celebrated as a symbol of religious harmony. 'Efforts are being made to provide the devotees all the necessary facilities. Almost 75% of the works have already been completed and the remaining works will be completed in the next two days. MLA Sridhar Reddy and AP Waqf Board Chairman Abdul Azeez are continuously monitoring the ongoing works at the dargah,' the Minister added. The MLA said that the oath-taking ceremony of the new chairman of Bara Shaheed Dargah Committee would likely be held on Tuesday (July 1) at 6 p.m. NMC Commissioner Y.O. Nandan, Deputy Mayor Roop Kumar Yadav, Muslim minority leaders, and key TDP leaders have participated in the programme.

Nellore: Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development Ponguru Narayana has stressed the need of coordination between all departments in the interest of successfully conducting 'Rottela Panduga which begins on July 6 at Bara Shaheed Dargah in the city. In the wake of government declaring Rottela Pandaga as a State festival, the Municipal Administration Minister along with State Waqf Board Chairman Shaik Abdul Aziz conducted a review meeting at Bara Shaheed Dargah here on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, Narayana has directed the official machinery to act responsibly as lakhs of devotees from all faiths from all over the country and also from abroad would witness the 5=day event. Stating that 'Rottela Panduga' mainly meant exchanging of 'Rottelu' at Swarnala Cheruvu (Nellore Tank), he asked officials to concentrate on maintaining sanitation in a full-fledged manner. The Minister said that mobile toilets and temporary changing rooms for women devotees should be arranged at Dargah premises. The Minister said that it will be necessary to utilise pumping mechines at Swarnala Cheruvu to clean the garbage to avoid inconvenience to the devotees exchanging Rottelu at the place. He said that water in the Swarnala Cheruvu should be maintained in a clean manner in the interest of devotees having holi bath during the mega event. The Minister has directed the police officials to ensure installing number of CC cameras in the premises of Dargah to avoid thefts and other untoward incidents during the event. State Waqf Board Chairman Shaik Abdul Aziz opined that it would be difficult to organise the Rottela Pandaga successfully without coordination between all departments as more number of devotees are expected to attend the festival this year when compared to last year. On this occasion, Minister Narayana enquired about the department-wise arrangements being made on the premises of the Dargah. Nellore Municipal Commissioner Y O Nandan, officials from R&B, Electricity, Police, Revenue, APSRTC and others were present.

Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P. Narayana has been taking serious efforts to revive his 150-year-old alma mater V.R. High School, where he not only studied but also worked as a teacher. The school remained closed during the YSRCP regime but was reopened after renovation recently for the current academic year. As the school registered a record number of admissions, Minister for Education Nara Lokesh, who studied under the guidance of 'Narayana Master' in the past, lauded his mentor's efforts to breathe new life into the once-dilapidated school. In his post on 'X', Mr. Lokesh showed the picture of the 'admissions closed' board hanging in front of the school, after the management closed admissions for the current academic year and hailed his former teacher for the accomplishment. Barashaheed Dargah The Minister reviewed arrangements at the Barashaheed Dargah near Swarnala Cheruvu, where the annual Rottela Panduga will be observed in a grand manner. After reviewing the arrangements at the spot along with A.P. Waqf Board chairman Abdul Aziz, he said the 415-year-old Dargah, standing tall as a symbol of communal harmony, would be given a facelift and facilities developed to accommodate more number of devotees this year. He instructed the officials to complete all arrangements by June 30.

The five-day annual festival 'Rotiyaan Ki Eid' or 'Rottela Panduga' will commence in Nellore from July 6 with lakhs of people from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu likely to visit Bara Shaheed Dargah to exchange rotis near Swarnala Cheruvu. AP Wakf Board Chairman Abdul Azeez, Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, his brother Kotamreddy Giridhar Reddy, Nellore Municipal Corporation (NMC) Mayor P. Sravanthi, and NMC Commissioner Y.O. Nandan recently reviewed the arrangements. On the occasion, Nellore Rural MLA held discussions with the officials of various departments on the facilities being arranged at Bara Shaheed Dargah premises for the convenience of the devotees. Speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Sridhar Reddy said, 'Considering its rich culture and tradition, Rottela Panduga had been officially recognised as a 'State Festival' by Nara Chandrababu Naidu during his previous term as Chief Minister.' He further said, 'The NMC has already started preparations for hosting the event in a grand manner. Nellore Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) was appointed as special officer. The festival committee will be formed soon and the tendering process will also commence.' The number of devotees is increasing every year. Around 20 lakh people attended the festival last year, and we are expecting more visitors this year. We are making foolproof arrangements to ensure that they do not face any inconvenience, the MLA said. 'The estimated budget for the festival set by the committee is ₹4 crore this year. The renovation works at Bara Shaheed Dargah premises are currently underway. The main structure of entrance arches will be ready by the month-end with ₹2 crore. The funds are arranged from NMC and NUDA,' he added. NMC Commissioner said, 'As of now, we have already spent ₹2.5 crore for the arrangements. We have taken permission of the council to go for the tendering process for lighting, sound system, toilets, barricading, and cleaning equipment.' Though the festival will commence from July 6, the devotees will visit Bara Shaheed Dargah from July 1 onwards and it will remain crowded for the first ten days. Several NRIs are also expected to visit the famous mosque during these days.
