Man accused of shooting at woman, young children at southeast Georgia hotel

The Glynn County Police Department said a man was in custody, accused of shooting a woman at the start of Memorial Day Weekend that left a woman in the hospital. According to police, Brandon Betts, 32 of Brunswick, fired a shotgun at a woman, her 9-year-old and 7-year-old children and a man at the Royal Inn Hotel. Officers said they were called to the scene around 9:43 p.m. and found the victim with a gunshot wound in the lower stomach near her hip. Police said they immediately rendered first aid until medical first responders arrived and she was taken to Southeast Georgia Health System's Brunswick Campus. While investigating the incident, police identified Betts as the suspect. Officers said "it was determined that Betts had fired multiple shots from a shotgun in the direction of the victim, her two children—ages 9 and 7—and an additional adult male." Police took him into custody on Friday evening and he faces charges for: Four counts of Aggravated Assault One count of Possession of a Firearm or Knife During the Commission of or Attempt to Commit a Crime Police said there may be additional charges. A Brunswick man arrested Friday after police said he shot a woman with a shotgun spent 10 years in prison for shooting his stepfather to death in December 2007, Glynn County authorities confirmed with Action News Jax. Brandon Betts, 32, is in Glynn County jail and is facing four counts of aggravated assault after police said he fired multiple shots from a shotgun at the woman, her two children - ages 9 and 7 - and another man, Glynn County police said. The woman was struck in the lower abdomen/hip area during the incident that occurred at about 9:43 p.m. near Mulligan's Bar and Royal Inn Hotel. The woman was flown by helicopter to UF Health Shands Hospital in Jacksonville where she was listed in stable condition, police said. >>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<< Betts was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2009 for the December 2007 shooting death of his stepfather, 37-year-old Louis Hall Jr. He pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime. In Friday's shooting, Betts is also facing one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. 'Additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues,' the police news release states. Brunswick man arrested, accused of shooting at four people with a shotgun

A man has been arrested after Glynn County police say he shot a woman Friday night. Police responded to the scene near Mulligan's Bar and the Royal Inn Hotel around 9:43 P.M., where they found a woman with a gunshot wound to her hip area. According to the Glynn County Police Department, 32-year-old Brandon Betts fired a shotgun multiple times in the direction of the woman, her two children, and an additional man.
