‘No LLB without graduation' HC court denies enrolment to man
Himachal Pradesh high court (HC) refused to allow enrolment of a man as a lawyer after finding that he had secured admission for three-year LLB course before completing his graduation. 'No LLB without graduation' HC court denies enrolment to man A law graduate, Inderpal Singh, had challenged the order of a single bench of HC refusing his enrolment as an advocate. The division bench held that as per the Advocates Act and Rules of Legal Education of 2008, a person can be admitted to the three-year LL.B course only after passing the bachelor's degree. '....thus, the prescribed standards, cannot be permitted to be eased out or diluted, just to enable the appellant-writ petitioner to seek ratification or to undo his known and admitted wrongs or inactions…', the court in its order dated July 24, order made available now. 'Permitting or granting leverage either to the candidates and/or to the institutes to resort to admissions of ineligibles dehors the established and applicable norms, shall be an illegality, which shall adversely affect the standards of education and bring inefficiency in legal profession,' the order further read. Singh told the court that he failed to clear a paper in the final year of his undergraduate studies in 2014 and was made to reappear for the exam the next year. However, in June 2014, before clearing the failed exam, he secured admission for the three-year law course. He gave an undertaking to the college that if he fails to complete his graduation, the provisional admission may be revoked. The college accepted the undertaking. Singh cleared the paper in July 27, 2015, and the LLB course in November 2017. However, the Bar Council of Himachal Pradesh refused to enrol him stating that he had secured admission to law college before completing his graduation, and this was in violation of the law. Even the single bench of high court had rejected Singh's plea in July last year, upholding the Bar Council's stand. 'Diluting or easing out prescribed mandates, relating to eligibility for admission to a course shall lead to educational chaos, which shall result in disturbing the entire education system, except in eventualities, when, the same is expressly permitted under the Statute or Rules' added the judgment. The order further read, 'Non-fulfilment of eligibility conditions prescribed in norms, governing admission to a course of study is an illegality and ignorance of law is no excuse and the appellant -writ petitioner (Inderpal) has neither any locus nor any right to seek rectification of an illegality in admission to LLB Course made dehors the norms, and this inherent ineligibility has resulted in rendering the appellant-writ petitioner ineligible for enrolment as an advocate in terms of the Statute and Rules.'

Bill Maher Jokes Trump's Messed Things Up so Bad, ‘Greenland Offered to Buy Us': ‘The Ozempic of the Economy'
It's been a wild and scary week in America in a lot of ways, perhaps most notably the economy which, thanks directly to the policies of Donald Trump is declining rapidly. That's what Bill Maher chose to focus on at the start of Friday's 'Real Time,' devoting his entire monologue to dragging Trump for all the damage he's causing. 'We got to start our St Patrick's Day celebration weekend right… I already saw a guy puking in the street. It was my stockbroker, Peter. I said, what's the matter? He said, I'm sick of winning,' Maher said at the start. 'Yeah, the stock market. Stock market has lost $5 trillion in three weeks. Yes, Trump, he's the ozempic of the economy,' he added. 'Today, Greenland offered to buy us. There are CEOs out there begging Luigi Mangione to shoot them in the back of the head.' 'It turns out that the stock market has really kind of rejected the notion that if we turn on our trading partners chickens would lay more eggs here. When Biden was president, everything was about the eggs, the price of eggs. 'We got to lower the price of eggs.' And now Trump retweeted somebody last week who said, 'shut up about the eggs.' And Americans like, 'but we need eggs. What else are we going to throw at the teslas?'' Maher continued. 'We have only ourselves to blame,' Maher went on as he mentioned the stock market losses again. 'Trump said this would happen if we re elected Biden. Oh, that didn't happen. This is happening because Trump wants to bring back manufacturing and to get the ball rolling, he is manufacturing a recession.' Maher discussed the chaotic, beliggerent and nonsensical way Trump keeps wielding tarrifs, and after noting how other countries are reacting, he mentioned 'the level of North Korea, shall we say, that the responses from the Republican Party' is doing, 'just pretending it's not happening, or it's a good thing, or the euphemisms here, $5 trillion in three weeks, and they said it's going through the stock market, the economy is going through a period of transition. It's yes, we're our economy is transitioning, and our pronouns are, 'what,' 'the' and 'f–k.'' 'Trump said the other day, you can't really watch the market. It's just a number. Yeah, just a number that indicates the amount of how much less money you hadthan last week,' Maher said as he started to wrap the monologue up. 'Here's the big headline in this: Americans, just regular, regular, everyday Americans, including a lot of people who voted for this administration, are now starting to lose their faith in this administration,' Maher said, referencing increasingly bad polling. 'I talked to a guy the other day. He used to be out there singing YMCA, and now he's living there.' At the end of the episode, Maher devoted his 'New Rules' segment to complaining about the term 'sex worker,' which he argued is a euphemism that hides a somewhat grim reality, and also that the term is too new for people to act like everyone should use it. You can watch that segment below: The post Bill Maher Jokes Trump's Messed Things Up so Bad, 'Greenland Offered to Buy Us': 'The Ozempic of the Economy' appeared first on TheWrap.
