New Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge to open Thursday, expect traffic delays: Cops
RUMSON ― The new Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge over the Shrewsbury River is to officially open Thursday afternoon, according to a public alert sent from borough police.
Heavy traffic delays are expected between noon and 6 p.m. on July 31, police said.
It's been four years since officials broke ground on the $130 million project to replace the span, which as its name implies, connects the boroughs of Sea Bright and Rumson.

The old bridge was built in 1950 and had approached the end of its lifespan, with structural and functional limitations that did not meet modern design standards, according to Monmouth County officials, who are responsible for the structure.
