Cowboys Headlines: Micah Parsons sticking point revealed, new trade destination for TE?
The Cowboys weren't directly involved in the latest blockbuster NFL trade, but they're a part of the story now that the deal is done. We'll tell you what George Pickens had to say about his former teammate being sent to Miami on Monday, and we'll explore the possibility of a Cowboys project joining him there as a result of the swap.
Elsewhere, we're going inside what Duke Manyweather is working on with each of the Cowboys' O-linemen, we're previewing the Netflix docuseries spotlighting Jerry Jones and the team, we're trying to figure out the RB room for 2025, and we're hearing that the Cowboys never even called about one of the league's top talents. We've got contract numbers to sift through, playoff chances to discuss, and quarterback prospects to consider, but we start with what one insider says is the lone sticking point to the organization and Micah Parsons coming to terms.

Tom Pelissero told Rich Eisen over the weekend that Parsons and the Cowboys know the 'type of contract' the two sides will agree on in terms of the average annual value. However, contract length is reportedly the lone issue in the deal. The Cowboys tend to like five-year extensions; Parsons will no doubt push for a four-year pact.

After the Steelers and Dolphins finalized their player swap involving Jalen Ramsey, Minkah Fitzpatrick, and Jonnu Smith, it leaves Miami in desperate need of a tight end. With several solid prospects at the position, the Cowboys should be on the phone offering up former second-round draft pick Luke Schoonmaker.

The Cowboys offensive line might be worrisome in pass protection, but they are cause for optimism when it comes to run blocking. The fact that the team has no clear-cut RB1, though, means it could be a platoon approach yet again. Jaydon Blue is the wildcard, though: if he can hit the ground running early, the rookie might be a difference-maker in the Cowboys backfield.

For the Cowboys, it's a question fans have been asking for over a year now. Which running back(s) will emerge? It'll be up to the players on the roster to dictate if there will be a lead back or a committee this season. Training camp could go a long way in providing an answer.

The Cowboys were criticized for not pursuing Derrick Henry last offseason. Turns out, they didn't call Saquon Barkley, either. 'Never heard a word from the Commanders or Dallas,' Barkley said recently. 'That's why it's BTA when I see them.'

Dak Prescott may take his offensive playmakers to far-flung locales for the summer, but the offensive line goes on staycation by working with Duke Manyweather at OL Masterminds in Frisco. Manyweather's credibility with the Cowboys organization runs deep and has been building for years, as he trained Jermey Parnell and Ronald Leary in the 2010s. But once seven-time first-team All-Pro right guard Zack Martin became a client, that's when Manyweather became the preferred trainer of the Dallas offensive line. This offseason, he has each of the Cowboys' five projected starters focused on different aspects of their game.

If Dallas has a healthy season with Prescott under center and still fails to make the playoffs, it wouldn't be beyond reason for the front office to start planning for the future. Arch Manning is the name most people will watch, but Clemson's Cade Klubnik, Penn State's Drew Allar, Indiana's Fernando Mendoza, and South Carolina's LaNorris Sellers could be intriguing. And don't forget the Cowboys connection with LSU's Garrett Nussmeier.

Trevon Diggs's recovery could trigger a shuffle at the position. Right now, DaRon Bland and Kaiir Elam stand to be the Week 1 starters, though rookie Shavon Revel, Jr. is making excellent progress and could push for a starting slot. Israel Mukuamu could also be a surprise name to monitor. Caelen Carson, Kemon Hall, Robert Rochell, Andrew Booth Jr. are all considered on the bubble.

The Eagles are still the division's best team. Washington and Dallas are, most would say, battling for second place. The Cowboys starting 2-0 and notching early tiebreakers versus Philadelphia and New York would be huge. They seem to have made offensive improvements on paper; whether the defense also got better could be the real key to the season.

Terence Steele's $86.8 million contract certainly sticks out as the fourth-largest on the team. Some might also wonder about Malik Hooker and Donovan Wilson, at Nos. 7 and 8, respectively. And newly-added linebacker Kenneth Murray, Jr. clocks in with a $15.5 million deal that puts him 10th on the list before even taking a snap with the team.

The network picks Dallas to take an edge rusher with the 13th pick next spring. Fine. But the reason they give is that the team needs "more on the edge after passing on the position in the 2025 draft." Only the Cowboys didn't pass on the position in the 2025 draft; they nabbed the guy many consider to be the steal of the second round in Donovan Ezeiruaku. Just two months ago, the mock author himself called Ezeiruaku the 14th-best pick of the entire draft.
