Ryan Kent's Rangers warning rings out as giddy Seattle Sounders fans go all in

Kent is starting to find his groove in the MLS with two assists against St Louis City as sharpness builds Ryan Kent felt like he had "two right feet" when he first joined Seattle Sounders. The former Rangers player has been out of action for a considerable time after his Fenerbahce switch turned sour. ‌ But now he's flying with the MLS franchise. After brief cameos off the bench in his first few games, Kent showed Sounders fans what he can really do with two assists in their win against St Louis. ‌ Head coach Brian Schmetzer has been building Kent up and has been trying to work how best to get him on the grass for as long as possible. 'He's a super talented player,' Schmetzer said. 'How do we get him on the field? How do we reward Paul for all his hard work? It's a competition.' The ex- Liverpool youngster may not be fit enough to bang out a full 90 minutes, but he's now very much in contention for a regular starting slot. And Kent admits he's come a long way since he first arrived at Lumen Field. 'My first couple of weeks, I felt like I had two right feet,' he said. 'But as the weeks have progressed, I'm starting to feel sharp again. I'm starting to feel good with the ball. 'I need to show them I can come on in games like this and make an impact, show them I'm ready to go from the start.' ‌ And as far as Sounders fans are concerned, Kent is doing just that. One posted: "Ryan Kent is the real deal, his European experience is showing big time, he will be important at the FIFA CWC for the team to have any chance for even a single point." Another added: "That's what you get with a player of some quality in this league," while one fellow fan took it to the extreme, declaring: "Thank you Ryan Kent for changing my life." However, Rangers fans were on hand to offer a note of caution, with one warning: "Great when he's running at defenders. Now watch the next 3 matches when he doesn't do it once. Same story with him all the time." But it looks like Ryan Kent will retain his legend status across the pond as he's already becoming a fan favourite in Seattle - just weeks after heading to the MLS. The former Rangers winger's contract was terminated by mutual consent after he fell out of favour under legendary manager Jose Mourinho. His sharp exit meant he wasn't involved in the Europa League last 16 tie between Fenerbahce and Rangers in March. But later that same month Kent returned to the football fold when he sealed his shock move to Seattle Sounders. And three weeks after that he made his stunning return to the pitch off the bench against Nasville. He only got six minutes that day and 19 minutes the following game as manager Brian Schmetzer decided to ease him in following his lengthy lay-off. It was then the following match against St. Louis where he officially introduced himself to his new fans. Despite not starting a game at that point, Kent was hailed by fans as their 'lord and saviour" as he came off the bench in the second half and provided two assists in the 4-1 victory. That heroic display left his gaffer with no other option than to give him the nod to make his first start against Houston. And the wide-man didn't disappoint. Rangers fans defiant banner after tifo criticism Kent sealed the deal for Seattle with an incredible assist in the second half which left Albert Rusnak with almost an open goal as opposition goalkeeper Jonathan Bond was left scrambling. The wide-man received the ball out wide and produced one of his trademark runs to rip apart the Houston backline. He cut inside and took several players on before drilling the ball across the face of goal in the box where Rusnak was waiting to pounce. It's a passage of play that Rangers fans watched a countless number of times before during Kent's stint at Ibrox. But Sounders fans are now only just seeing what he's capable of and many took to social media to react to his display, with some begging him to "stay forever". One fan wrote: "Ryan Kent is just a different breed. Please stay forever." A second said: "This is exactly what the Sounders have been needing. Ryan Kent has been such a great signing so far." A third buzzing fan added: "We got an absolute STEAL." Another commented: "Kent has made a huge difference in the last two matches." Ex-Rangers star Ryan Kent hailed as ‘our lord and saviour' as recent move to new club takes bizarre twist

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) EX-RANGERS star Ryan Kent seems to be enjoying a new lease of life out in the United States. So much so, that some of his new club's fans appear to think the winger might be DIVINE. Sign up for the Rangers newsletter Sign up 4 Ryan Kent is now with Seattle Sounders in the MLS Credit: Getty 4 He moved to the USA after a horror spell with Fenerbahce Credit: Getty 4 Kent enjoyed five years at Rangers Credit: Willie Vass Kent, 28, spent five years with Rangers between 2018 and 2023. After starring during a season-long loan from Liverpool initially, a bumper £7million deal saw him make the permanent switch to Ibrox. He played an integral role as the Gers won a first league title in a decade in 2021 and won the Scottish Cup the following year. Kent left the club when his contract expired at the end of the 2022/23 season. It certainly hasn't been plain sailing for him since, however. He was quickly snapped-up by Turkish giants Fenerbahce on a free transfer but it was a move that soured VERY fast. Despite scoring on his debut in European action, Kent was almost immediately frozen out of first team affairs. Just weeks into his time in Istanbul, there were already suggestions he could be moved on. In mid-season, Kent was axed from Fener's league squad and was restricted to just a handful of Conference League appearances. Jose Mourinho's appointment as manager didn't help things, either. Rangers boss Philippe Clement reveals he tried to sign Ryan Kent Kent didn't make a single league appearance under the legendary ex-Chelsea and Man Utd boss, who held showdown talks with the winger over his refusal to LEAVE the club. Kent reportedly turned down several chances to move on, making Mourinho irate. Then, in October last year, Kent's four-year contract was ripped up just 16 months into the deal, making him a free agent. And a free agent he remained for a staggering FIVE months. That was until MLS side Seattle Sounders swooped to sign him at the end of March. With the season already underway, Kent didn't have much time to get up to speed. But it was time he needed having not kicked a competitive ball since the previous July, eight months prior to his signing. He finally made his debut off the bench against Nashville on April 20, appearing again as a substitute the following week against Colorado Rapids. Kent once again appeared from the bench as Seattle faced St Louis City this past Sunday - and he truly arrived as a Sounders player. The ex-Gers man came on in the 57th minute with the score tied at 1-1. 4 He went on to provide two assists as Seattle ran out comfortable 4-1 winners in the end, earning plenty of plaudits for his performance. But now things have taken a rather odd turn, with the club highlighting a fan's bizarre comment across their social media. Sharing the supporter's post alongside Kent absolutely rinsing an opposition defender on Instagram, Sounders said the former Ibrox hero had: "Changed bro's life." But how exactly? Well, the Sounders fan had jokingly posted on Instagram: "Before Ryan Kent came on the pitch today, I was homeless, unemployed, my wife took the kids from me and I was a crippling alcoholic. "Since watching Ryan Kent play tonight, I was offered a job, I have reconciled with my family and we have just made a down payment on a brand new home. "Thank you for everything Mr. Kent." Sounders fans were absolutely loving it and many decided to have a bit of fun with it - with some enjoying the presence of their 'divine' new hero. Another fan commented: "Everyone gather round to hear the word of our lord and saviour Ryan Kent." A reply to that read: "Hallelujah!" A second post said: "Thank you @ryankenty_" A third simply said: "Blessings." A fourth post said: "Ryan Kent taught my pet fish how to swim." While another post hailed: "Admin I love you."
