Michigan State baseball 2B Ryan McKay named to second team All-Big Ten Michigan State baseball has seen its 2025 regular season come to an end, and the Spartans are taking home some postseason honors. First, Joseph Dzierwa was named as the Big Ten's Pitcher of the Year, while also earning first team All-Big Ten honors. Now, the Spartans have earned another postseason honor, this time infielder Ryan McKay was recognized. McKay was recognized as a second team All-Big Ten member, showcasing the high quality season that the Clarkston (Mich.) native had. The sophomore starting second baseman was the leadoff hitter for MSU most of the season, slashing a .320 batting average to go along with a .423 on base percentage and a .495 slugging percentage. Just two years into his collegiate career, the young Spartan is turning into a star in the college baseball world. Spartan infielder Ryan McKay named Co-Big Ten Player of the Week Michigan State baseball had a very solid weekend, going on the road to Penn State and winning a series against the Nittany Lions, taking two of three games over the weekend. The Spartans also took a win over Oakland during a midweek game this past Wednesday. A big part of the Spartans series victory over the Nittany Lions was the bat of Ryan McKay, a sophomore from Clarkston, Michigan. McKay went 9-for-14 over the weekend, while going 4-for-4 against Oakland on Wednesday night. A total of 13-for-18 for the week, McKay slashed a nasty .722 / .762 / .833 for the week. For his efforts this week, McKay has been recognized by the Big Ten Conference as the conference's Co-Player of the Week, sharing the award with Reese Moore of Iowa. Michigan State has a big week ahead, going on the road to face Notre Dame, before coming home to faceoff with Illinois in another Big Ten series. Michigan State baseball traveled to State College, Pennsylvania this weekend for a three game Big Ten series against the Nittany Lions. On Friday afternoon, Michigan State opened the weekend with a win over Penn State, 4-0, behind an outstanding performance from their star pitcher Joseph Dzierwa and bullpen. To finish the weekend, the Spartans and Nittany Lions split, giving Michigan State the series win. While offense was at a premium on Friday, that changed over the weekend. Penn State defeated Michigan State on Saturday 11-5, but the Spartans were able to flush that down the toilet, gaining a massive 10-5 win on Sunday. It is the first series win on the road at Penn State since 2016. Ryan McKay starred for the Spartans this weekend, going 9-for-14 over the weekend, being a menace at the plate and causing a lot of problems for Penn State. Michigan State now improves to 16-7 (3-3 B1G) for the season, and will resume action on Wednesday when they travel for a massive mid week game at Notre Dame. MSU baseball defeats Texas A&M Corpus Christi, 8-3

Jake Boss Jr. has his Michigan State baseball team absolutely rolling to start the 2025 season. MSU is officially off to their best start since 2016, after improving to 6-0 on Saturday night. The Spartans are currently down in Corpus Christi (TX) for a three game invitational, the 2025 Kleberg Bank College Classic. After dominating Washington State on Friday, the Spartans returned on Saturday to face off with the host's of the invitational, Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Michigan State defeated the Islanders, 8-3. As has been the story to begin this year, MSU was led by Ryan McKay and Nick Williams, who in 10 combined at bats, reached base every time. Both players went 2-for-2, while McKay had two walks and a hit by pitch, and Williams had three walks. Zach Maxey picked up the win for Michigan State, while Nolan Higgins and Logan Pikur were strong on the mound.
